Based on the story "The Three Kingdoms" koei made a game on the novel (its also a little historical with slight diffrences). The game has been around for a long time, and a while back the 6th game was released for the PS3 and the X-box 360. Basically its a fighting game and you can have up to 2 played (co-op as well!). Theres a story mode version where you get to choose from various characters seperated by the kingdoms they're a part of and fight for rule over china for your lord. The characters are creative and interesting stories and are people pulled out of history. Now with the 6th version there are fighting animals added in such as elephants, tigers, and wolves. The AI is enhanced as the enemies can now sometimes catch on to the combos and attempt to counter or block. Theres duel matches again but this time generlas can jump in and hlep out as well. The bad: The characters have been changed dramaticly! Some of these are nice changed but others just are horrible since they always looked the same just a tiny bit diffrent in all the series, suddenly they could be diffrent people. Some characters that have been in the older series and played quite a part were taken out and don't appear as generals at all! These are Jiang Wei, Xing Cai, Pang De, Da Qiao, Zuo Ci, Meng Huo and Zhu Rong. (DA Qiao!! But the kept her twin sister Xiao Qiao?! And Jiang Wei played a huge part as a stratagest so that was a shock too!) Another bad part would be character weapons. Once again it never changed in all the series but just got enhanced. Sima Yi doesn't even have a fan anymore!!! He has these claw things that stretch. Surely cool and diffrent but the fans were a nice weapon too. I have to admit the one to shock me the most would be Zhang He. he was cool, fast, awesome, and deadly! His weapons were claws that he could do his stuants and flps taking out many generals....now they got rid of those claws and gave him a spear. Almost all the characters have spears. THe worst as well is that most the characters fight the same also. I heard that SunShangXiang and Xiao Qiao both have bows and fight the same. (Xiao Qiao had awesome fans like her sister and SunShangXuang had these chakrams). Also, SunShang looks younger now. o_O' As for storymode....wiki says that our of 41 characters now only 17 have a storymode....A huge change indeed. Rating: 4/10 I know I would pick it up since I always get the DW series (if I had a console for it) but with so many disappointments it wouldn't be as wonderful as it could have been.... crying

This game was probably the biggest dissapointment I've seen in the past 5 years of gaming history.
The Good: Character's designs have been totally revamped, most for the better. Weapons have also been changed, and the designs for those are great as well. The graphics are stunning, the Renbu system allows for infinite combos, and now characters have specialty attacks. You can now swim, but it's been proven that it's more or less a nuisance and serves no real purpose. Stages are MUCH bigger now.
And unfortunately, I think that's it.
The Bad: Removed several characters, and nearly every character that remained has a cloned moveset of another. VERY few stages. DW5 had around 50, DW6 only has 12. Weapons did not come in levels this time, rather, they came in types. That system removed the concept of "unique weapons", which severely limited replay value. Essentially, once you've played one character, you've played them all. Though the Renbu allows a continuous flow of attacks, it is said to be extremely difficult to use, and looks more like the character simply flailing the weapon about rather than using any distinct fighting style. Very few characters actually have a story mode, where as in DW5, EVERY character had a story, and a unique moveset, and a unique weapon.
All in all, DW6 is a picture perfect example of a rushed production. It is obvious that they ran out of time, perhaps focusing too much on the design of the game, and in turn, forgetting about the gameplay itself. But don't fret, those of you with a PS2 can get your hands on an upcoming version of DW6 which will give several characters different weapons, and story modes! Ma Chao now has a zantetsuken ((a BIG sword)). Taishi Ci has his twin rods back. Zhang He has his claws back. Cao Pi still has a longsword, but this time, MUCH longer. Ling Tong has a setsuken ((a large nunchaku with three parts rather than two)) And Yue Ying is returning with a new weapon, though it is unknown at this point exactly what it is. I hope she gets her scythe back, but this time, make it a little more scythe-ish rather than a stick like it was in the past.
They should've given justice to far more characters than that in my opinion, but Koei's been on a steady downhill with this series for a while now. I have faith that they've realized the error in their ways, and when they release DW7 ((which will probably come out in 09)), we'll have, possibly, the greatest Dynasty Warriors game ever made.

Wow Goldman!! Great info!
I have to admit DW6 is a huge disappointment to many fans so I'm surprised the price is still so high. With all the complaints I'm looking forward to DW 7. I'm sure they will fix these mistakes. If not...I'll be shocked. ^_^'
They always seem to just get better and better so hopefully......

They've released Yue Ying's weapon info. She doesn't have her scythe back, she does have an arm-mounted crossbow.

I was very disappointed with Yue Ying. crying What made her cool was the scyth!! I told my sister how Ma chou doesn't have a spear anymore (we thought he did). We're definantly not getting the game until its way cheaper. It's not worth 60.00 at all. ^_^'
I heard Yue and SunShang are basically the same thing in the game. Only SunShang has a annoying voice (?) so some would prefer Yue.

Yue Ying and SSX were clones of eachother, moveset wise. Nearly every character had a clone. Zhen Ji is a clone of Diao Chan, Ma Chao was a clone of Sun Ce and Zhang He, Xu Zhu was a clone of Wei Yan and Xiahou Yuan, etc...
They put an absurdly limited amount of effort into the game, which was an awful path to go down for the first next-gen Dynasty Warrior game. They could have easily extended the release date. I've been losing faith in Koei lately. Samurai Warriors 3 is rumored however, and I'm anxious to see how it'll turn out.

Hm..wow so its not only those two girls. They had everyone already set with all their dynatsy warrior games. Each character was already unique and impressive they should have build on that. DW 6 was a weird outcome. Were they low on cash or something?
I bought another koei game lately for x-box. Called Blade storm. It's not so impressive so there's another disappointing koei game. I definantly agree with losing a little hope in koei. >_<' But samurai warriors...the one thats out so far. Do you know if that one is good? Me and my sister saw it in the store and we're planning on getting it whenever we can. Hopefully its good. ^_^

Samurai Warriors is SO much fun! I have SW1 and SW2. I suggest you get SW2, because there were some major flaws with SW1, such as the stronger you get, the stronger your opponents get. Problem with that though, is that your enemies get stronger faster than you do, so levelling up is in fact more of a handicap than it is a benefit.
Samurai Warriors 2 has a level-up system that provides for a major replay value. Every character is unique, every weapon is different, every stage has its own scenarios and strategies. It's just tons of fun. You earn gold for completing scenarios within a stage, which you can then spend in a shop to upgrade weapons, buy new skills, buy horses, and buy bodyguards. The moveset system is unique to this game, as it actually has its own level-up design. At first you start with your basic Square attacks, and one charge attack branching off from there. Overtime however, your attack chain will increase, and you'll have access to new charge attacks. You also have Special attacks, which are activated by holding L1 and pressing either Square or Triangle. These can also be levelled up, it all depends on the character's moveset style. There are three styles, Normal ((attack chain of 12 hits, 7 charge attacks which don't level up)), Charge ((attack chain of 6 hits, 4 charge attacks which level up two times each)), and Special ((attack chain of 6 hits, 4 charge attacks which level up once, but their Special Attacks level up to two times each)). It really is fun. I HIGHLY recommend you give it a try. I was thinking of doing a review on it sometime, so keep an eye open for it.

Hey andy! If you like the DW on PSP. If you have other consoles try the other DW's. Like number 4 and 5. They were amazing. ^_^
By the way goldman! I have SW 1 and I agree its fun! I couldn't get the 2nd one though b/c it came out only for the PS2 right? There was a smaurai warriors I saw for the x-box 360....I'm not sure what version it is though. I can't wait to see the review you make though. I think I might get SW whenever I can. SW is amazing and the characters are cool. I can't believe that....I can't remember his name...date I think? Date looks more grown up in SW2! crying I liked him small. He was cute. ^_^
I have a bunch of fav characters but the one i normally am when I play 2 player mode with my sister is Hanzo or Date. Occasionally the others. But most of the time its those two. She's always Magoichi (the gun guy. Is that his name?).

Magoichi Saika, yeah.
SW2 is definately out for 360. So is its Xtreme Legends expansion. 6 new characters, a couple new modes, a new unique weapon for every character, and two new stages.
SW2 doesn't have an Edit mode however. I was upset. =(
Hopefully SW3 brings back custom officers.

Oh!!! That's maybe the one I saw! I have to get it some time. ^_^ Not not though. I've been buying games one after another and have to finish what I have first. ^_^'
I've got:
DOA4 Enchanted arms The lost Oddssey Eternal Sonata Soul Calibur VI Assasin Creed Circle of Doom BladeStorm
I..think that is all. ^_^' But I haven't completed any! Out of all. Lost oddessey is fun and Jenkin (?) is hilarious! Enchanted arms...I'm hook on! And...then theres eternal sonata....funny and cute!! ^_^ The others are OK. ^_^' For soul calibur. It was fun but I didn't play for too long....I miss how soul calibur 2 had the special system where it was like....a world map? And you move from one place to another fighting enemies with this mini story and unlocking costumes and characters.

SC4. ^_^ They're both good games.
Hopefully you can get it soon! BY the way!! That reminded me....I think x-box lost my check...and now they might not give me the extra warrenty b/c they "never recieved it withen 10 days". >_<' I have to call them later today....its annoying....I might have to go without warrenty with that being the case sadly...only the 1 year warrenty....
When you buy it...it comes with this mail envelope and tells you to either use cash or write a check and place it in the envelope and mail it within 10 days. I did it 3 days after I got the x-box and waited since then.....then I called and they said that they're system was down for 50 hours for me to call back so I have to call back and complain.... You can't even pay for the extra warrenty online. I was afraid they might lose the money and so it was safer to send a check instead of cash (what if someone stole it and took the cash right?).
Now that its maybe 'lost' I'm relieved I sent a check and not cash....so no one can check it but x-box as well. But still....I get no extra warranty. crying
