She'd wandered off from her group of friends for a bit following a whim. Something told her that getting away would be a good idea. She didn't know why, couldn't think of why since she loved all her friends, but she did. Something was out there and she needed to find it, whatever it was.
Humming to herself she wandered out toward the pond that was nearby. The one she'd found Gala in, near, whatever. The one Gala was at when they met, yes that was better. She liked the little pond since it stayed clear and there usually wasn't anyone else around. There wasn't anyone else around at all but occasionally some really big loud hoofed things came by. She couldn't hear anything like that yet so thankfully they weren't around now.
It was just her, the grass, and the knowledge that something else would be by eventually.

Slowly but surely he was beginning to develop a small adventurous streak. It wasn't all that big yet but it was just enough to take him short distances from his mother's watchful gaze from time to time. This would have been one of those times, of course.
He had chased a small rodent out this far in an attempt to practice his pouncing skills. He had just managed to catch the little thing, peering under his paw only to have it squeak and skitter off into the tall grass. "Hey! Hey...." He whined, pouting. "No fair."

She jumped when a mouse ran over her paws as if it was running for her life. Grinning she pounced and caught the poor creature before it could get too far away from her. "Ha!"
That couldn't have been what she was waiting on, she alway saw the mice and rabits and other food things, but it was good anyway. She hadn't eaten breakfast that morning yet and here was breakfast, or at least a snack, just when she needed it.

Hearing a very loud 'Ha!' that didn't belong to any voice that he knew he simply had to investigate. His nose wrinkled into a 'mean face' as he tried to stay low to the ground, practicing his 'prowl'. He wasn't all that good at it, all things considered, but he was certainly getting better. By the time he got bigger he'd be the bestest prowler and hunter ever.
He froze just within the grass's cover, tail swishing slowly back and forth as he watched. It was... Another cub. Weird. Why hadn't he ever seen her before?
He pushed himself up onto all fours as he pounced out of the grass. "Hey. Hey, you. What're you doin' here? Why aren't you with you mama?"

She'd managed to stuff the mouse in her mouth once she'd made sure it stopped squirming for good before she heard someone behind her. That wasn't anyone she knew, certainly wasn't Kef's voice and it was too low to be any of the girls.
Turning around, tail hanging out of her mouth, she looked at the cub that had joined her. Oh! Someone new!
Swallowing the mouse quickly she grinned at the other cub. "I don't have a mama so i wouldn't be with her"

"What d'ya mean y'don't have a momma? Everyone's got a momma... That's how we're here an' all..." Or something like that, at least. It made sense when one thought about mamas being the ones to take care of you and all. His nose wrinkled, little brow furrowing slightly as he looked at the other cub. "How can you not have a momma?"

She tilted her head as she sat back on her haunches. "Cause my mama's not hear anymore?" Her mama was gone so she didn't really like to think about it anymore. She had her friends and they were living fine so what use did she have for a mama anyway?
"I have my friends." She nodded and grinned at him. "Instead of mama."

"Oh..." He frowned as he plopped down, tail swishing back and forth in the dirt behind him. That... Didn't seem all that right; not having a mama... But she didn't seem to be all that bothered by it so why should he be?
His brow furrowed a bit further as he thought a bit longer. "What... Are friends? How can friends replace a mama?"

"Friends are .... my friends. There's Kef and Gala and Shiket and Jude." She didn't know how else to explain it otherwise. "Don't you have friends?" He might not, she hadn't had any friends until she met Kef.

"I... Don't think so..." His ears flattened slightly as he lowered his head. This girl had four friends and he... Well, he only had one mama. Was that anywhere near being equal?
Deciding that he wasn't going to let it bother him anymore he straightened himself out, giving his head a toss that tousled his short excuse for a mane. "My name's Izimbali, what's yours?"

He didn't have any friends? That just wouldn't do! "My name's Rangi .... want to be my friend? It's not good to not have friends."
She hopped up and padded closer to him. "I can even introduce you to the others. Everyone likes new friends." She tipped her head and turned her focus from him for a moment as if she was watching something go running past them. She turned back to the other cub quickly enough though.

"Why... Isn't it good to not have friends?" He tilted his head to the side, watching her. He never wanted to be bad... Not when he'd much rather be good. Being good kept him out of trouble. "I... I'd like that." He smiled brightly as she approached him, blinking only when she seemed to wander off for a moment. "Rangi... What'cha watchin'?" He turned his gaze to try and see if he could see what she was seeing.

"Cause i said so." She grinned as she looked back at him. "Friends are fun, it just wouldn't be the same without my friends." She didn't know if she'd have enough food if she hadn't met them. With more of them it was a lot easier to get meals than just herself.
"There was a .. a ... i don't know what they're called. They're little, but bigger than me, and the color of the grass and i bet they taste really good but we've never been able to catch one." Only she hadn't been able to smell it this time, just like Shikets stupid rabbits, but she'd seen it.

He glanced over his shoulder to see if he could see what she saw, brow furrowing when he didn't see anything. "I don't know if I've ever seen something like that. Think it'd be hard to catch? Mice aren't hard to catch... But they're hard to keep."

"They're hard to catch ... even worse when they don't smell like anything." She scrunched her nose and her ears fell for a moment. Shaking it off she grinned again. "Mice are easy to catch! You just have to not let them go ... like the one i just ate a minuet ago"
