Spring had not yet come to this corner of the Realm, and the landscape was dotted with bares trees that jutted from the ground like bleached bones.

The femme did not care who noticed her or how much noise she made. She found it almost gratifying when crows and squirrels fled in her wake. Alcyone was a fighter. She should intimidate little creatures, even if it wasn't in her heart to be cruel.

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.Sleeping underneath the protective branches of a thickly leafed deciduous tree he dreamed peacefully. Until he was rudely awaken by a racket, some one was walking through the trees in a rather noisy fashion reluctant to open his cyan eyes he stayed in the shade of the trees and hoped the other would just simply go away. He had come here for some peace and quiet... now that looked rather unlikely.

Finally giving into the racket that woke him he opened his eyes and sat upright slowly. He yawned and stretched as it was customary to do so when one woke. Finished he silently strode toward the noise maker. His ears were far better than most kistu so the amount of noise created by this one was... well hellish.

"Who’s there?" he inquire both cool & calm. Stepping into the other's path he observed who it was that was making this disastrous racket and disturbing his sleep, it was just simply another kitsu regardless of her appearance. He had seen scarier thing when he was younger and still sees things worse than what she looked like. Besides he didn't get a bad feeling from her at all. He could tell when something meant ill.

"What business is it of yers, honey?"

Alcyone cocked her head to the side. That was the only outward sign of her curiosity. She had a powerful build for a femme. Long days of labor had made her a creature ragged fur and rippling muscle. With the smiling porcelain mask covering her features, it was nearly impossible to tell what she was thinking from her body language.

"You can run along if you gotta problem," she drawled, not unkindly. Alcyone wasn't one for smug smirks and veiled threats. She left those affectations to Lord Knives. They suited him better. "I'm no threat t'you. M'here to wake the dead, not the living."

The male was obviously drowsy, but he the strength of his frame told her wasn't one of those frail-a** kitsu that spent all their days lounging around and drinking tea. He might even have a couple of decent moves.

"You're noisy and I was sleeping," he said simply. She did have a strong muscular build but it didn't bother Hakyoku any, often those with such builds like that were still no match for him.

"And why would I honestly run?" he inquired fully awake he glanced at his surroundings. He had heard this was a haunted mountain for creatures of death, a perfect place for some one like him. So few kitsu around since they were all afraid of the other creatures that may lurk about and it was a place he could rest peacefully as the other monsters on this mountain left the half demon alone.

"No I don't take it as a threat." he said truthfully they had to come flying at him with teeth and claws for him to consider it a threat.

Alcyone strode over to a strange, moss-covered gate. It was made entirely of stones stacked atop one another, with no cement or masonry or to be found. Only kitsu could have made a structure like this. Humans, with their thumbs and their science and their terrible machines, would have created something much more complex.

"If you don't wanna run, you c'n walk," the femme shrugged.

Then she sprung up, and knocked down the top part of the gate down with one powerful swipe of her left forepaw. A cloud of shale exploded outwards at her touch. Alcyone had no magic or genius, but as a daughter of the Crow, she was heir to a monstrous strength.

When she landed she was covered in tiny cuts caused by the shards of rock. They did not seem to bother her.

"But the nap's gonna have to go elsewhere. Yer not likely t'get much sleep around here tonight."

He might as well come along, as he had nothing better to do now that he was awake.

"Fine I'll follow," He paused "Might I ask what you are looking for? Or going up against." he guess she was doing the latter as her build suggested it. The moss-covered gate had been rather uninteresting, as he had passed it before on his way up. Flicking his ears back he sighed, she sure was showy.

He avoided effortlessly any of the excess remains that were created by her flashy breaking of the gate.

"No I don't think I will," he agreed "At least not anymore." He said walking up to the remains of the gate. "What's your name?" he inquired finally It wouldn't be proper to go on with an unknown.

"My name's Hakyoku."

"Invitin' yerself along? Who said I wanted company? I'm no Miss Manners, but I gotta say, that's pretty bold, stranger." Alcyone didn't sound offended. The femme was amused in her own gruff way.

She turned to give Hakyoku a long, evaluating look, not bothering to hide her intentions. Prettyboy with a feather boa, hunh? He was easy enough on the eyes, but that didn't mean he could fight.

"I'm Alcyone. As you can see, I got some skills when it comes to battin' things down. If you can't handle yourself, you oughtta stay here for your own safety."

"Are you not being the bold one yourself?" he replied calmly "Charging onto a haunted mountain?" his statement was partially a question. What was she doing here anyway? Either way it didn't matter now. She probably didn't think to much of him. He had an elegant shape but hidden beneath that was an able demon.

He was right... she was judging him on his outward appearance. He found this slightly amusing. "You know looks might be very deceiving." he said with a slight smirk.

"Oh I can handle a lot Alcyone..." he said simply.

Alcyone raised her forepaws in a vulpine sort of shrug. Her feather-scales puffed up, and her bony spines clacked together.

"You like stickin' yer nose in other people's business, then it's on you. But don't say I didn't warn ya." Her statement was blunt, but not unkind. "When the chips fall, I ain't here t'babysit yer pretty face."

With that, Alcyone turned and started heading up the slope.
PostPosted: Sun Mar 30, 2008 5:44 pm

"I no longer have anything better to do and what you seem to be doing seems interesting" he responded. Yes she warned him but he needed no warning, not at all. "Of course." he added needing no protection. He effortlessly he caught up to Alcyone and kept pace walking up the slope.

The rough terrain didn't seem to bother him he walked on it like it was soft grass; such an environment seemed to suit the half demon more.

Alcyone wasn't a big talker. She was the kinda femme who was comfortable in her own silence, and could spend days at a time wandering the frontiers all by her lonesome. Sometimes she missed the happy noise of the Place, all full up with family, but she didn't feel the need to fill the voice with useless chatter.

The path narrowed as the pair headed up the hill. Though it was spring-time, the trees were bare of foliage, and the grass was a dull, dead brown.

Alcyone did not bother to say anything until they were well on the way to their destination. The path forked. She turned left.

"D'you think," Alcyone asked Hakyouku, without stopping to look at him. "That there are some things the world would be better off without?"
PostPosted: Sat Apr 26, 2008 12:51 pm

Hakyoku watched, as the trees seemed to wither the further the passed into the depths of the mountain. The presence of death continued to assert itself. it was beginning to get cold, in the middle of spring too cold and dark...

He himself wasn't too disturbed a normal kitsu it would have sent running back to the base of the mountain for fear of their life. He continued walking beside Alcyone as she asked a question. Hakyoku went left with her.

"Sometimes." he answered, sometimes the things the world would be better off without were a necessity to the world, as unfortunate as it was.

There was something sinister nearby... the half demon could feel it.

"Yeah, exactly."

The femme nodded. She was mildly impressed with how well Hakyouku was handling himself. A guy with his looks- well. She'd halfway expected him to turn tail and run. But nothing in his body language indicated that he felt any fear.

Alcyone wasn't afraid either.

"There's lotsa things that don't belong in this world. Cruel people. Injustice. And worse, unnatural things. Like zombies."

The pair approached an elaborate gravestone that looked almost like an altar. It was worn and pitted with age, and the base was covered over with moss. There was no way to tell who or what had once lived within the lonely tomb.

"Crimes against nature- those are some of the worst of 'em all. They give femmes with my kinda bloodline a bad name. I got the looks but no so much of the evil, you know?"

She smirked.

"This I yer last chance to run if you want. Me, I'm here to take out the trash."
PostPosted: Tue May 20, 2008 12:58 pm

There wasn't anything to be afraid of.

Hakyoku listened to the femme, well he could be considered unnatural by her standards. Although he just kept quiet about that. Demons to most were unnatural and half demons were crimes against nature. Or so he heard. He hadn't paid to much attention to those rumors but they kept circulating in the back of his mind every so often. But he gave a quiet nod.

Gazing at the alter curiously for a moment before the half demon sniffed the air. The air reeked of decay; there were defiantly zombies about just as Alcyone had said. Well at least he'd have some fun slashing heads before heading home.

"Yeah, I know..." he said. He looked like a pretty boy but inside held a monster that he kept under control.

He smirked back.

"You wish," he replied "I'm not going anywhere."

Most kitsu would have called Alcyone the unnatural one. Hakyoku presented a pretty face to the world, while Alcy was all spines and horns and scales and feathers, like a flightless bird. More than one kitsu had called for her exorcism.

But Alcyone was learning not to care about that. To her, the world was very simple. There was good and evil, natural and unnatural. Her father had returned to life from the grave, and her mother was an aggregate of perished souls. They came back to protect life. Trash who abused their second chance on the living plane could never be forgiven.

"Yer call," she shrugged.

The zombies were restless. Alcyone could feel them, drawn to her otherworldly bloodline.

Stiff, rotten kitsu-forms rustled in the leaves beyond.

"My father guided spirits from the land of the living t'the land of the dead. An' my mother brings the will of dead spirits to the living world. But yer not spirits- yer nothing but empty, rotting shells. In the memory of Zanarkand, I'll send you back to hell!"

With that, Alcyone charged forwards, roaring out a joyous, wordless battle-cry.
