Her heart was beating fast as she ran, and a familiar smile crept on her face as she darted across the landscape. The day was finally warm, and Tina knew it was a good sign that spring was coming back. It had been awhile since she had felt such a fresh day of warmth, and it seemed that green grass was finally appearing again, and the familiar buds and flowers were making their way upon the land. Tina just loved all the bright colors, and she enjoyed herself in a particular patch of grass while stopping and catching her breath. Her run was a successful one, and she was glad she decided to wake up early to exercise herself! It was always hard to be motivated when it was cold, but now that it was finally nice again she was thrilled to be up anyhow.
At the moment though, it seemed as if she was the only one awake so early, and the mare grunted a bit at that realization. It'd be nice if she had company at least, since the day was going to be perfect it seemed! Once she was rested from her run, she started walking along the grass with a hopeful expression, wondering if any other soul would be as crazy as her to be awake at such a moment.

Haggai was still trying to perfect his flying, well it wasn't really his flying it was more his landing. He thought it was always a good idea to land where no one could see because that way he wouldn't make as much of a fool of himself as if he had an audience that would then laugh at him.
As he flew down he didn't notice the young mare and so he just allowed himself to land, falling over his front legs and landing in something of a rather awkward pile. Not the most attractive thing to look at!
He had feathers poking out all over the place and his mane and tail, well they looked as if they had been brushed through thorn bushes a few times. He had clearly picked up some leaves in his mane on the way down. One day he would get this landing thing right, at least he hoped so.

Tina was not expecting what she saw, and she stopped her tracks as she watched the stallion dreadfully land from the air! She had to admit, she hadn't noticed he was there above her. That must of meant he was a good flier, she could barely hear him! But see him.. now she seemed to have seen plenty! Was he ok?! Tina couldn't tell at all!
Since she was a few paces away from the male, she rushed over to where he landed and stood over him, noticing that he looked very bird-like at first glance. Heh, he was sort of like her, wasn't he? That is, by means of pretty coloring! "Excuse me, do you need help?" she then asked, while lowering her head slightly. She couldn't find the stallion's head.. all she could see was a long mane, and wings!
When she watched him move a bit, she backed up to give him room, and then smiled happily. "Goodness, that was quite a fall! I must admit.. I've never seen my brother do that, but maybe that's something that makes you special?" She giggled lightly at her own comment while curiously glancing for the stallion's face.

Haggai heard someones voice and that made him not want to move. It was a female voice, what if it was a pretty girl? He knew his mother would laugh at him and he knew he had a sister somewhere though he hadn't met her. His father had taken her and mother had kept him. It was apparently a good arrangement.
He did however decide he would look more stupid if he didn't move so he tried to get up. First though he managed to put one of his hooves on his mane, so when he tried to move it suddenly hurt a lot.
"OWWWW"
He moved his hoof and managed to get up, his mane covering his face. Oh what a sight. He had become the most unattractive soquili in the whole world with in a matter of minutes.
"Special? Makes me stupid."
He finally managed to get his now matted mane out of his eyes and looked at the female. She was quite pretty but it was her wing markings that had him curious. He hadn't seen anything like it before.
"I am Haggai by the way, the guy who can't land to save his life." He smiled a little, just forget that you look stupid. Must be the thing to do.

Tina felt awful, since there was nothing she could do to help the stallion! He looked as though he was in terrible pain, and she cringed for a moment while staring sympathetically. It also didn't help that he was completely down on himself, there was nothing WRONG with what he did. Maybe he was just very judgmental of himself? She would have to find out! "Oh please, it doesn't make you stupid! It looked as though it was a simple mistake, Haggai. So no need to worry so much, alright?" she lowered her head so that she could see under the stallion's mane, and moved her own mane in a cheerful nod.
"But anyway, I'm Tina and its a pleasure to meet you." And although their conditions of meeting were strange, the mare was glad to run into the stallion. He seemed incredibly friendly, and that was nice at least. Hopefully she could get to know him better!
"So how was your flight before the.. landing?" she then asked, with an amused grin on her face. "Flying must be great! I remember the first day my brother flew, I was very proud of him actually. I always assumed it was really hard." Tina had horrible balance anyhow, so it was good she wasn't blessed with wings.

He was being hard on himself but it was only because someone had seen him. He was normally fine, just cursed a little, got back up and moved on but it was seriously embarrassing knowing that someone had seen him! Oh well he would get over it, after all she was being so nice.
"It's nice to meet you as well and yes I am sorry about the circumstances." He smiled a little finding that she was actually quite comfortable to be around, probably because she wasn't laughing at him and that was rather encouraging.
"The flight was awesome. I love to be in the sky. I get that from my mother, though she is a bit well snobby. She loves to be in the sky and thinks that those without wings aren't good enough to be blessed with wings. She is just like that but I love her, she is my mother." He suddenly stopped realising that he was rambling somewhat. Great.
"So how come your brother can fly but you can't?" He was sure his sister would be able to fly even though he couldn't really remember her. Maybe he should ask his mother about her.

Haggai's mother sounded very interesting, and Tina was sort of glad her father had never met her. Guilian would have had fun with that sort of personality, and judging by Haggai's looks, she was probably very attractive. "Ah, so do you think the same way as your mother does?" Since Tina didn't have wings, she wondered if his mother would have disliked her! "I wonder if I really wasn't good enough to be blessed with them.." with a quiet sigh, she quickly returned herself into a cheerful grin. "Either way, the reason I don't have them is because my mother doesn't have wings. My father does though, so that's why my brother has them. My sister and I do not.." she paused slightly, while considering her OTHER family members.
"Its the same with many of my other siblings, some of us have wings, and some of us don't. It just depends on the mothers.." with a shrug, it all made sense to Tina at least. But she was sure Haggai would be confused, since everyone else usually was. Her family situation was.. extensive!
"So what is your family situation? It sounds like you are very close with your mother, and that is nice! Do you have any siblings?" She tilted her head while looking at him in wonderment.

Haggai shook his head.
"No I don't believe that though sometimes I wish everyone could fly. Some seem to get very jealous of those who don't. I am sure there are some out there who have wings who don't deserve them." He smiled quickly trying to reassure her that she was good enough. He didn't like to see others be put down.
He listened to her family situation and it made sense to him, her father was clearly a bit of a whats the word, player? Something like that anyway. His mother was kind of like it, she might have been snobby but she was also a flirt and it was something he always found rather embarrassing. Who wants to see their mother flirting?
"I see. Sounds like an interesting family you have there. I have a sister but I don't remember her. She went off with father and I stayed with mother which is why I am so close to her. I don't know if my father has any other children." He smiled, trying not to think about his father and mother together, every time it did he started to get sickened at the thought. He knew they couldn't have known each other long and he and his sister existed... it just didn't want to be thought about.

It seemed as though Haggai had a much different family situation then Betina did, and she only nodded kindly as he spoke about his personal qualms. Her father and his mother would get along very well it seemed, and she only kept that thought to herself with a soft smile. "Hopefully you will get to see your sister sometime. We all have to travel on different paths, and even though I grew up with my siblings I rarely see them myself. We are all too busy." Hopefully she reaffirmed the normality of Haggai's situation, since it wasn't rare for siblings to separate after childhood. Tina could notice a constant stress to Haggai's words, and she wanted him to be comfortable in front of her, since she was hardly judgmental in personality!
"I didn't ask before, but what are you doing up this early today? I am not keeping you from somewhere, am I?" she tilted her head a bit while glancing at the stallion's bright eyes. "I have no plans myself.. I was actually looking for something to do!"
But, if the stallion was busy, she should leave him alone, right? Tina felt sort of girlish for asking so bluntly, but it had been awhile since she had met a good sign of company. Lately the land had been empty with snow filled days, and it seemed everyone would hide until spring arrived! But now Haggai had arrived, and she needed to enjoy his company a bit more before they could part. "Plus, I still want to learn things about you of course."

Haggai listened and nodded his head. Yes it made sense that not all siblings would see each other though he did wonder how his sister was and what she looked like. He really couldn't remember.
"Oh no I have nowhere to be. I normally go flying in the mornings so I can practice landing, not normally anyone about ya see." He smiled sheepishly. He rarely had anywhere to be, he wasn't really one who you would see wandering about looking for company because even though he did love to meet new creatures, he always felt that he would bore them and knew he would have to return to his mother. He wondered if it was odd a stallion still living with his mother.
"Oh there isn't much to learn really, I am not that interesting! Tell me about yourself though, I am sure there must be something interesting to tell!" He smiled at her thoughtfully. It was only an assumption but he really couldn't think of anything interesting to tell her. She knew the only interesting thing about his lack of landing skills.

Betina continued to watch the stallion with a slight confusion in her eyes, since she didn't understand how he could talk so lowly of himself! "But I just said that I wanted to hear about you.. aren't I the one to decide who is interesting or not?" The mare then whispered her curls out of her eyes with a wink before settling herself down in a comforting sigh. "Myself, then? Honestly, a lot of the time I spend is for my family, and I pretty much already described that fiasco." Was she really that pathetic herself? She wasn't the type of mare to go off and do something for herself, she was always to worried about her many siblings. "I enjoy running.. and when it gets warm enough I will definitely go and play at the beach. I have been waiting for summer to arrive! I'm sure you feel the same way, since flying when its cold is dreadful I'm sure."
When she was quiet again, her mind still held confusions about the stallion's various words. Why was Haggai always assuming things before they happened? It reminded her of one of her siblings, and Tina tried to figure out the best method for dealing with that sort of thing! Maybe Haggai just needed the confidence boost?
"What do you like to do for fun, besides flying? I'm sure I would keep myself busy with flying if I could, but is there anything else you enjoy?" her question was light and simple, and she was only casually carrying on the conversation at this point. She wanted to see what reaction the stallion would have to more questions, so she was patient in trying to figure him out.
If there was one thing Tina was sort of obsessed with, it was analyzing others. She constantly did so with her own family, so when able she would go all out in thought with even a stranger!

Okay.... she was well interesting.
"Thats the same with me though! I spend most of my time with my mother, there isn't really much else to say..." He did continue to listen to her and nodded, running and flying in the sun was always a lovely thing to do.
Anything else he enjoyed? Er...
"I like running as well though my favourite thing is to fly over the sea, like really low so that you can feel the spray from the waves on your legs. It's such a lovely feeling on a cold day! Other then that, I just spend time with mother..."

The mare felt a bit conflicted, since she was in wonderment of this stallion. Did he do anything else besides stand by his mother? Maybe he never had the opportunity to do anything else? When she pieced it all together.. was this the first time he had ventured out on his own?! Maybe he didn't want to do anything else, some individuals were happy keeping life simple. Tina was rather simple when she thought about it.
"Well, I think you have specified how close you are with your mother, and that's nice." She then commented, while lowering her eyes to his hooves. "I'm sure flying over the water would be a wonderful thing, it would probably be more pleasant then rain water." Goodness, what was there to talk about now? All she kept thinking about was unknown facts about the male, and she was trying to decide if she should be blunt about it, or just not ask him anything personal.
Oh what the heck, why not ask?
"Have you ever considered not staying with your mother? I am just curious.. My own parents are rather personal, and I know some people have mothers or fathers who want them around. What about for you?" There, that was polite enough! And, hopefully his lifestyle could make more sense as well.

Haggai just looked at her, what was he suppose to say to that? Well of course he wanted to live away from his mother but he didn't want to live alone. There wasn't a chance he was about to tell a complete stranger how he was afraid to be alone!
"Of course, I just worry what trouble my mother would get in without me."
Yes, that was a perfect excuse and one that would work well. He just looked at her, trying to hide any possible chance of giving it away that he wasn't being completely honest. Then again at the same time maybe he was trying too hard and making it all too clear that he was hiding something?
