The sand flew by under her paws, taking her far from the battle. When all had been said and done... She couldn't face it all. What the old Firekin had said settled into her mind.
A shift in the sand and she slid down a dune. As she reached the bottom, she sat, catching her breath. Where was she going? Where would she stay? A look at the cloudless sky and she knew... She wasn't leaving this desert.

He had no destination, only mobility. Ears down, the orange lion continued to think on his adopted sister's words. He'd done a horrible thing, hadn't he? He'd gotten so wrapped up in being Makaa'kali, he'd turned on other lions. But then, was it fate? Was he supposed to do that? Considering the circumstances... He sighed, tail flicking.
Movement caught his eye, even in the burning sand. White amid the tan and gold, the sign of another in the lands. He wasn't alon out here, was he? Ignoring the heat, the rising temperatures, he moved across to see who it was.
And felt like his heart had nearly stopped, for there was Kimiko, one of the daughters of Nyekundu. The very lioness he'd hauled into the desert as a slave.

As the granules coated her pelt, she pondered shaking them out. But no, she would leave them. Gold eyes looked up from the equally golden sand, spotting orange amid the sand. Had somebody come to get her? As she started towards the other lion, she had to stop. She recognised him now... He was the lion that had brought her here, to this land of dunes and no water. She frowned, starting to back up.

His ears went back before he moved closer. Each paw step was heavy, weighed by the thoughts of 'I'm why she's like this'. He also thought of, how like his father was he, really? He wasn't like Tiah, with dreams of ruling, nor any of his nieces and nephews that he knew of to have such dreams. Most of them weren't even in the pride anymore, anyway. "Wait, don't go..."

She stopped, looking back at him. What did he want? What could he POSSIBLY want? A basic instinct-driven thought came to mind, but she quashed it. No, he didn't look like he wanted THAT. Gold eyes searched green, wondering just what he wanted. "Why?" It was a simple question, interpreted many ways. Why anything?

Indeed, why? Why did he come here, why did he seek comfort in the desert? Because he'd been born in a desert far away. Why did he approach this lion? Because he had done wrong. "There are many reasons why... I want to appologise... For what I did... It was wrong of me, I was a real monster.." He took another step closer, ears lifting slightly amid the mass of black mane. "Please... Let me help you, get you far away from here."

He was offering her... Freedom? Escape? The chance to get away, and never return to the life of a slave? She started to move forward, then stopped, ears going back. "No. I will not leave." She looked back, listening to the distant fighting. She was quiet before looking back. "This is my punishment for the sins I commited. I must serve Finar-si now, as Kiunguza's slave. This is the place I belong, and it is nowhere else I will go."

Ears pressing back, green eyes seemed to blaze. "How is that right? You're living your life taking orders from another. You're not a piece of property to be bartered over." He moved forward, suddenly realising... She'd grown. A lot. This was no longer the adolescent he'd taken to Bodaway, but an adult. Power was under the skin, rippling in the muscles. It made him take a small step back, realising that if something started... He'd be the one finished.

"Because I have done things in my life, that I have to pay for. And this is the perfect way to pay. I have treated others as though I were far better, and I am now being treated in such a way. They may not really be better than me, but there is ONE of me, and MANY of them. I am NOT arguing." With a flick of her tail, she turned back, heading for the battle grounds again. She paused, though, glancing back. "Don't regret bringing me here. I deserved it. You have nothing to be sorry about, you were merely the vesel to deliver my punishment." She then turned, leaving the orange lion behind.

Danzi could only watch as the lioness left, thinking on her words. After a moment, he let out a heavy sigh. How was he going to deal with this...? Troubles still weighing on his mind, he turned and headed aimlessly away from the sands. Where his paws would take him, he knew not. But right now... He wanted some alone time, to think to himself. To figure out where he truly DID belong.
