I know unit preference have been discussed before, but what about the weapons? Out of the triangle, which do you prefer: swords, axes, or lances? And why?
For me, I'd take the axes for being both the cheapest weapon and the strongest weapon, and the fact that Hector uses them (as Hector rules). Lances are a close second though. Perhaps it's because I've never had issues with axes missing, which tends to be most people's main complaint about them (and that's usually a character's fault due to a lack of skill, which isn't the case for all axe users). It's not as if hitting enemies is difficult.
Lances are really great too! And there are some awesome lance users out there! To me, swords are just meh: they're the weakest of the three, yet the most common (although swordmasters are awesome!).

Lances. They are fast, powerful, and better that swords, which is the most you find out of GOOD units, not crappy Brigands. They equal out Axe's hit when put against each other, and they best swords completely.

I love lances. Strong, dependable, and accurate, they're by far my favorite weapons. <3
'Course, this lead to a problem in Path of Radiance when more than half my team ended up using them...
Swords aren't strong enough for me, and most units can't handle the weight of Axes. :/

Yes. I made it into the Weapon SQUARE.
I like lances. But I also like swords.
I can only wield swords.
But lances are long and pointy.
Hmm
But magic triangle?
Anima/Lightning. ... is indeed better than living for yourself.

I prefer swords because they have the speed I love in my units. Axes, while they pack a punch, are still very reliable if with the right units, like Nolan. Lances are all around good. But, I still say swords because they are cool and fast. Bows = smile too.
For Magic, I'd say Wind is my favorite because Soren pwns. But, Light and Dark are fun to look at. Fire is just bleh and Thunder is sometimes hard to manage with a low-level Ilyana.
So, Swords, Bows, Wind, Light and Dark are my favorites.

Oh, yeah. Forgot to add a note- probably the only exception to my above post.
In FE4, my favorite weapons are swords. One sword, rather. Nothing kicks a** more than a Berserked Hero's Sword. >D
...Which I always had on either Ira or Lakche. Go figure. sweatdrop
But hey, if you had what was essentially a repairable Brave Sword that had a Critical quality exceeding that of the post FE6's Killing Edges, you'd like it, too. x3
Especially when it's on a character that can already attack multiple (Translation: At least 4, with Pursuit and Continue. Meteor Blow adds another 5 hits.) times per turn with an insane Critical hit rate. x3
Swordmasters need to go back to their roots. D< Bring back the Berserked swords!

So, 5 hits straight up, plus a high enough critical rate to make 4 of those hits critical? Only one thing can stand up to that. And that's defense. A good defense is hard to find, though.
I'd love to play FE4, if they had a fabulous translation of it. All the ones that I tried were crap. I won't be able to play something if the main character is Ž8;üSbšy{Ø.

Zelpher: And I though I was having translation problems when I couldn't get the damn FE6 patch to work (thats why they have the script written so it doesn't matter!)

Pursuit makes you hit twice if you're faster than your opponent. If you don't have it, you can't double-attack unless you have...
Continue: Attack like a Brave weapon. Unfortunately, Hero weapons cancel that out- but Pursuit will still activate. biggrin
Meaning 4 attacks.
Each attack has a chance (Skill = %) of activating Meteor Blow, which is 5 attacks instead of one.
Each one of those attacks can Critical. >D Now, remember that it's with this weapon, which can be repaired!
Hero Sword Max # of uses: 50 Weapon rank: B Accuracy: 100 Might: 12 Range: 1~1 Weight: 3 Cost: 160G/use

So, a possibility of 20 Crits in a row, in a game that guarantees at least one damage per hit. >3 Provided you're extremely lucky, that's 60HP you can drop off of someone with insane defense with one series of attacks!

I mostly rely on my swordsmans, but i also like my lance units too. I personally dont like axe users at all.

It's a difficult decision. Although sometimes they're not the best for landing a hit, I've gotta say axes. They've got a nice chop to them too. To me, at least, the hit feels very..final? Even though most of them molest the pixels out of the enemy.

I like swords in the beginning when my units are weak. And axes and lances a the end when I have strong units. I think I'd mostly go with swords and lances. I love a good axe-wielder though. The fact is, I believe a strong percentage of enemy units use swords. Usually at least. But people like Hector, Haar, every Hero. It just works.
