So. Kashi had really screwed up. A kid? It nearly made her lose her mind. But that was what she was stuck with. At least it was only one, because any more would have forced her to dump them on her mother and she probably would have left.

The purple lioness was lying in the dry grass, watching her son. The whole idea of it felt so strange, and she didn't hold any strong attachment to him. It was probably because she never even wanted a kid. The male didn't even need to trick her, really. She was a growing female, and curiosity had always gotten the better of her. What she was left to remember that experience could look at her with eyes just a bit bluer than her own.

What would she do? Whenever she looked at him, she was a bit repulsed, but she didn't think she could just dump him somewhere. She didn't like him, but she didn't want to leave him to die anywhere, either.

So she merely watched him, trying to decide what her future would be like.

The tuft of his tail was far too fascinating. When he tilted his head at just the right angle he could watch it twitch closer and closer... But every time he tried to pounce on it all it did was pull away leaving him lying on his back (or on his side and even once on his head) staring, watching it twitch again. One of these days he would catch it and when he did...

He blinked eventually, rolling back onto his paws so that he could try to straighten himself out. Not far from him he saw another tuft at the end of a tail; black, this one was. It belonged to a lioness who kept watching him as if she were waiting for him to do something spectacular... At least, that's how he felt about it. Was there something that she was looking for in him or was she just waiting?

He lowered himself to the ground, striking a sort of prowl-like stance as he made his way towards her, eying the tip of her tail much as he had his own. Maybe that's what she was waiting for... Maybe.

Kashi watched her little son closely. Did she do silly things like that as a kid? She probably did, but sheer stubbornness didn't let her remember them. It had been a long time since she had seen her brother and father; would they ever come back home? She doubted it, even if she secretly hoped for it. The horror on her father's face that she herself already had a kid, it would of been priceless! Or just the ability to harass her brother again. She missed that.

Lost in her thoughts, she didn't notice that Izimbali was eyeing her tail. It kept up with it's swishing, back and forth. Kashi's eyes were locked into a certain spot on the grasses, still thinking about her stupid male members of her family, and how she hadn't really talked with her sisters lately, either. Did they even realize that this cub was hers? The stripes totally gave it away, even if the pink didn't.

He crept a bit closer, backside giving a little wiggle as he continued to watch her tail before launching himself at it, determined to pin the swishing tuft to the ground... And maybe gnaw on it a bit to see what it tasted like since he hadn't been able to catch his own. If this one didn't have a good taste he could give up on catching his own tail and focus on other more interesting things.

That shook Kashi from her daydream.

She felt the small jab of pressure on her tail, though there was not much pain yet. She peered over her shoulder to see that her mischevious little runt had decided that her tail was a play toy now. She snorted, but didn't yell at him. What was the point? He'd probably get scared, and Kashi's mother would give her a lecture on how to be a mother. She really didn't want that from her, and so she merely let him do what he wanted until her patience ran out.

If he started chewing on her tail, though, then she'd definately do something.

Aha! Victory! He eyed his prize while still keeping it pinned beneath his paws. Tails were tricky things, of course, and they always seemed to get away right when you least expected them to. He wasn't about to let this one go... Not before he had a chance to taste it.

He leaned closer to the tuft of fluff at the tip of the tail, eyes nearly crossing for a moment before he snapped lightly at it, nose scrunching as the hair tickled his tongue. He pulled his head back, giving it a light shake before trying again.

Kashi's ears glued themselves to her head as she shot a glare at the cub. What was he doing? She remembered doing stuff like that when she was a cub but...it was weird when it was happening to you. She liked her tail, thank you!

She shifted her body around so she was a bit more curled up, trying to let her tail not move too much. For some reason, she couldn't help but feel a bit fond for him.

It was a weird feeling, since he was chewing on the hair part, and not where it might actually hurt. If he got a little too close, though, she'd give him a warning with a bop on his head.

"Does that taste good?" she asked. She couldn't help it anymore, especially when he started tugging on her tail more.

Hearing the sound of a voice his eyes went wide and he immediately released the tail, skittering back a step or two. He kept low to the ground, eying the black tuft before glancing up, bright blue eyes meeting pale ones. His tail never talked to him when he tried to catch it...

He continued to eye the lioness for a moment before creeping closer to her again. This time instead of pouncing on her tail he flopped down beside her, clearly 'worn out' from his amazing 'adventure'. Hunting was something he would have to get a better grasp of later.

Kashi couldn't help but giggle at bit as he seemed to be spooked with her speaking to him. Well, he obviously wasn't expecting that! She let her tail flop around a bit, noticing that the tip of it was damp from the chomping. Well, it would dry soon enough, she guessed.

"Tired, now?" It was amazing how quickly cubs would get tired. One moment they would be running around everywhere, acting crazy, and the next moment they'd be sleeping like a rock. Now, she knew she never did that, but she didn't waste all her energy like that, either. She gave him a little nudge with her nose for no real reason except to give him a poke.

He shook his head slightly, nose wrinkling as he turned to eye the great lion creature that had nosed him. He let out a little huff, batting at her halfheartedly with a paw before flopping back down. He'd won. He'd defeated the great tail monster and given it a good gnawing before deciding that the hair wasn't tasty... And being spooked by the thunderous voice... Now it was nap time. Wasn't that the way things worked?

He rolled onto his back so that he could be ready for the next poke with all four paws, batting lightly at the sky with his front ones while kicking with his hind paws only to fall still again. The ground was comfy here; nice and warm.

Kashi watched the little cub flail around. Curious, she kept her face close to him, watching him carefully. Was he tired, or not? She didn't really get what he was doing, but tried to play along with it so he'd be happy. Is this what a mom was supposed to do?

"You're weird," she said, though more softly this time. She really needed to ask her mom about all this...parenty stuff. Everything the cub did baffled her.

She sighed, letting herself settle in a curve around the cub so he wouldn't wander off too much. "Whatever am I going to do now?" It was a question that had no answer, one that Kashi knew was impossible to know. Time would tell her what she'd do with the little cub. He was too cute to give up!

Sighing softly he rolled onto his side so that he could nestle against her. It was nice and warm and a soft cushion on top of that. Even if he wasn't all that tired he could at least rest a bit... And get a bit of energy added up for the next hunt, whatever it might be that he had to hunt for or pounce on or...

As she continued to talk to him he opened his eyes, peering up at her. He liked the sound of her voice when she wasn't yelling. Was that the way things were supposed to be? Nice and quiet... Weird.

Akasha draw a paw out from her side to nudge her cub closer to her body, an instinctal move on her part. It was weird, the things that your body just seemed to do without you even really thinking about it. Was that why she couldn't help but like her son? He was pretty damn cute, and she wouldn't let anyone tell her otherwise.

"I guess we won't know 'til you get bigger, huh?" she said to him, though she didn't know if he'd understand at this point or not. Someday, though, he would. Kashi didn't know how she'd feel about him then, when he'd talk back to her.

He let out a soft yawn as he nestled closer to his mother, giving her a light nuzzle before falling still. There were so many things out there to still be explored... But they would all have to wait until he'd recharged himself again, then he could resume being a curious cub learning the ins and outs of everything under his mother's watchful gaze.
