Dark grey clouds outside threatened either rain or snow it seemed the threat was no different inside then outside. Lunathiel pulled her head back into the teepee to give a closer look to the two young mares before her. The picture alone left her baffled and the actual situation was stranger yet.
Scarlet Wing, everyone’s little treasure was laying in the dirt her belly suggesting that those long nights out weren’t just walks by the river. It seemed unreal that Scarlet would be the pregnant one now. She had always been very kind and sweet not the kind to go out and have wild nights with stallions at random. Then, of course, there was the fact that she was easily controlled, not as much now as when she had first arrived. No, when she had first arrived you could easily tell her to drown herself and she would have. Now she at least gave some thought to what she was being asked to do.
Still, she would have rather seen even Amoena pregnant; her daughter could take care of herself, or even Thorn. At the thought of the dark maned mare Lunathiel’s crystal blue eyes drifted sideways to rest on the strange visitor watching the sleeping Scarlet. A long black mane hid the young mare’s eyes from view but judging by her shaking Thorn was either upset or enraged. The two emotions seemed to go hand in hand with the mountain goer though so it really didn’t matter which she was feeling at the moment.
Heaving a sigh Lunathiel ignored her better judgment to remove the mare from their home and approached her. The young soon-to-be mother didn’t seem to mind Thorn’s presence at the time so there was no reason to be acting rashly. That aside, the only real way to get the dark mare to leave was to make her want to go.
“What’s wrong Thorn?” She asked quietly to avoid disturbing the sleeping mother-to-be.

It had seemed she had chosen a rather wretched day to visit her blood red butterfly. She had intended to bring Scarlet back with her into the mountains, her little red markings were to pretty to leave in the low territories. What a shock to find that her beautiful butterfly had become fat sometime since they had last seen each other.
Her eyes narrowed at the sight of the sleeping mare and she began to shake in anger. Why did things never go smoothly down in the low lands? They almost always went the way she wanted in her home so why did a change of altitude change everything? It had been such a good idea too. Bring Scarlet up with her so she’d have someone to talk to, look at and send to do things she didn’t want to. It would have been perfect, so wonderful but now?
Pale ears flicked back as the old mares voice reached them. She rolled her eyes annoyed by the blue ones presence. Thorn already knew that Lunathiel was there. The old mare didn’t need to announce herself and she definitely didn’t need to pretend that she cared a thing about her. Thorn new better. The blue mare had never taken a liking to her it probably had something to do with their first meeting where Thorn declared she hated the mare’s coat. It was true though, the mare’s coat was ugly, that shade of blue was too dark and the swirls and spots too bold.
“You let her get fat.” She said finally putting her inner critique of Lunathiel’s looks to rest. “I can’t bring her with me now. Why would you let her get fat like that?!” She turned to look angrily at the twice over mother, not bothering to keep her voice down.

For a while she was certain that she was being ignored. It wouldn’t have surprised her in the least given how they fought like wolfs and cougars. She was moments from repeating the question when Thorn finally gave her answer. Her face arranged itself in an unhappy ‘you’re serious’ look at the young mares words. She knew that Thorn was young, two years at the most, but she had never really expected something so childish to come spewing out of her mouth.
She was blaming Luna for letting Scarlet get pregnant? She vaguely wondered if the dark maned mare even knew what she saying. She had thought that Thorn had pushed too many of her buttons before but this, this was the last straw.
“Look here missy!” She started rather loudly forgetting about Scarlet’s presence. “This isn’t my fault! I can’t exactly run around getting other mare’s pregnant! That’s not my fault and you weren’t going to be taking Scarlet back with you even if she wasn’t fat!”

Thorn was a bit taken a back by the blue mare’s sudden change of attitude. She had argued with her on a few occasions before but she’d never heard her so angry before. She blinked a few times to take in exactly what had just happened before snapping again to end up on top of this argument. “So you’re telling me that you could not stop her from running off with strange stallions? Some mother you are-” Her words were promptly cut off with a quick blow to her chest from the livid blue mare.
She staggered around a bit gasping in pain as she tried to catch her breath. She had never known Lunathiel to be a violent one and wanted dearly to return her blow. However that would leave a bruise. She glared at the mare for a moment before darting forward to take a large chunk of Luna’s mane in her mouth and pull.

She almost couldn’t believe what she had just done. Lowering her hoof she watched as the small mare stumbled about trying to recapture air in her lungs. It was one thing to insult Luna herself but no one got to say bad things about her parenting skills. She was proud of herself for raising her children so well and no mare with a delusional mind was going to question that.
“You. Out. Now.” She said her blue eyes darkening dangerously. She hadn’t expected Thorn to listen but she also hadn’t expected the sharp yank on her mane from the younger mare. “OW! Let go!” She shouted giving the pale mare another kick, this time to the leg.

Dark wings beat fiercely against the wind as the thief neared his home. He had been gone a bit longer then he expected. A week had slowly turned into a month and he was eager to get back to his friends. The second he landed, though, he could hear the angry shouts and cries of Lunathiel and an oddly familiar female voice.
He felt that it was wise to approach with caution so he slowed his steps catching a few words of what was being said inside. ‘Vile, horrible, not, fault, out, get out’ and finally a rather loud cry of pain stopped him in his tracks just as a rather ruffled Thorn was knocked out of his home.
All he found himself able to do was blink and stare. What exactly had happened while he was gone? As far as he knew she hated everyone he knew with the exception of Scarlet so why would she bother hanging around? He watched as she stood and shook her head to fix her mane before trying to get back into the teepee until to see a blue leg knock her down again as Luna came out.
“Did I miss something?” He asked feeling unbelievably confused.

Lunathiel jumped with a start hearing Dark’s voice so close. She hadn’t realized he was there but she turned to look at him the smile she normally used as a greeting wasn’t there. Instead there was a more serious look. It was a look of disappointment and fear. “We gotta talk after I deal with this little one.” She said before turning away from the wind to step up closer to Thorn. She bent her head down to speak quietly with the other mare that seemed to be having a mental fit.
“If you don’t leave quietly...right now Thorn...and quietly, I promise you you’ll be one great big ugly bruise.” She didn’t really mean it but she knew Thorn well enough to know she wouldn’t risk her beauty just to get a chance to make life difficult for others.
Without another word to the mare she stood and walked back to her home. She paused outside and gave a look to Dark telling him to follow and quickly. Inside she found Scarlet still lying with her eyes closed. Whether she was asleep or not was questionable but she was still resting and that was all that really mattered right now.

Dark olive eyes snapped to face the thief and if looks could kill Dark would have dropped to the ground just then. She hadn’t expected that the day could get any worse and then he had shown up. Like it wasn’t bad enough that she couldn’t take Scarlet and that she now had disgusting bruises forming on her chest and forelegs. She started shaking in anger again before preparing to stand to go give him a good kick on his hind quarters where the discoloration wouldn’t show through.
Lunathiel’s approach put a stop to this plan and Thorn sank back to the ground. She listened carefully to what was being said and couldn’t help but believe the old mare and she had no intention of turning into a walking bruise. She waited until Luna had gone inside to stand before slowly making her way over to the wind.
“Know this...” She said her icy voice a dangerous whisper. “I won’t forget about what I’ve seen and heard today and I will make you pay. You can be certain of that.” Without awaiting his sure to be stupid reply she left knowing what he was soon to learn. None of this seemed right to her. Scarlet was so beautiful and Dark was a fool who was certain to do her no good. Together, they ruined all her plans.

What was going on? He had never gotten a look like that from Lunathiel ever before and he had never seen her act so viciously to a fellow creature. Then there was Thorn. Her presence alone was enough to set off the alarms in Dark’s mind. For such a pretty package she was certainly dangerous. The last time he had tried chatting her up she had said she only wanted his wings and when he tried to make a joke of it she had lost her mind almost completely, called him hideous, told him he was lower then low for something about Scarlet, and then left. Needless to say he hadn’t tried joking or flirting with her since then. He couldn’t think of a single reason why she would anywhere near him and then her words bothered him more.
What exactly had she seen and heard that she needed to make him pay for? He didn’t bother to wait to see if Thorn really was leaving. He needed to know what was inside now! As he stepped into the shelter he saw Lunathiel standing on the opposite side of the teepee and below her was a very clearly pregnant Scarlet.
His face dropped and he looked back and forth at the two females several times before it finally clicked. “I didn’t do it!” He said quickly the heat of Lunathiel’s stare making him more then a little uncomfortable. Somewhere in him, though, he was pretty sure he had but there was no way he’d admit that. He got himself into enough trouble as it was. He didn’t want to add Scarlet to that particular list.

"That's not funny Dark." She said her face taking on a look like she was on the verge of tears. She was glad that Thorn had left, she didn't want her to see her as week. She knew Dark would try to make jokes but she hadn't expected him to just deny it right off the bat. She hadn't expected him to deny it at all. "I'm not stupid. She trusts you more then anyone and she seems very pleased with herself lately. We don't get pregnant from nowhere Dark."
She knew she was over reacting a bit but this was a serious issue. No time for joking. Babies were on their way and she wasn't going to have them fatherless.
