What is everyone's favorite anime? And why do you like it--is it plot, characters, animation, or something else?
I have several favorites myself. First and foremost is Fullmetal Alchemist; I adore each of the characters, and the philosophical aspect of the story really draws me in. Kino's Journey is another favorite, also because of its philosophical nature.
In the past year I've really fallen for Princess Tutu. Pretty much every character in this series is endearing, and I feel attached to each one of the main characters. The plot idea is really interesting as well.
So? How about you guys?

I'm just gonna go ahead and list my top five, okay?
1. Slayers- I really enjoy slapstick humor and the fantasy genre, so of course I love Slayers to death! Plus....Lina Inverse is totally my idol!
2. Revolutionary Girl Utena- Has what I consider the best use of imagery in any anime. It also has a psychological aspect and at the same time it manages to stay very funny for the most part.
3. Princess Tutu- I have a thing for fairy tales and the like, and so Princess Tutu really seemed to fit that.
4. One Piece- Love everything about One Piece. Especially the characters and art style...there's also just something inherently fun about One Piece.
5. Full Metal Panic!- The series just has a good mix of nearly everything I enjoy about anime...Its got good action, romance, comedy, drama, AND giant robots...really, whats not to like?
Though this past year I've really fallen in love with the Beck anime as well...
Anyways...I'll probably update this post later since its really too late at night for me to think coherently or explain my reasonings for liking those shows.

I almost bought Utena DVDs at AB this year since they had boxets for $30-$40 each, but I was already so pressed for cash... It sounds like an amazing show, though.
And hooray for Tutu love.

Well, Calica already knows what I like, but I love Case Closed for characters (despite the stupid American names like "Serena Sebastian") and for the fact that it's a murder mystery!
I love Princess Tutu because it's interesting, the characters are amazing, there's a touch of class to it while still being silly... and, as Calica knows all too well, it's the only anime that makes me cry...... HYSTERICALLY. Every time. I cry THINKING about it. =_= yeah. it's that good.
I love Lupin the III because there is NO anime more fun and more exciting at the same time than Lupin. He's an icon and he's amazing in every way xD and the best part? He can do ridiculous things and still survive.. you don't need to worry about physics xD just sit back and enjoy~
And.. well.. Death Note *looks as if this should be new to everyone.. even though it's obvious from the signature* The characters, complexity of the show, the overall theme... the fact that I can have a heated argument about it with someone for 4 HOURS and still have the outcome be "we should cosplay as L and Light!" and not want to kill anyone *thumbs through personal Death Note.. yes... the one the college thought I was going to use in real life somehow* I'm tired so I'm not gonna like. Get into it. BUT! I love it and it's pretty much the best.
