Make her regret
Hurt her
Maim her Kill her
Make those pussies regret it.
Especially him
As tall as his father. As strong as his father. As cunning as his mother. As cruel as his mother. His loyalty bound to the Alpha, living his life to please and honor her. He would do anything for her, his heart has been locked on her and if this was a way for him to get him closer to her, then he will do it. After all, a male can go on living without mating, right?
The large, bulking, tawny-white hyena boldly walked up the hill of the Pride Lands, it was the area where Leji, the steel-blue wild dog, and his idiot jackal lacky, Pam, hung out. Looking around with brown eyes, neither of those canines were here to face him. Ever since they were little, those two always opposed Zeki as being their group's leader, Ophos was the one to force them to follow. One would imagine how far brute strength went. If he had the chance now, he would really show them what he was capable of and not being limited to by Zeki's commands.
The large male moved around the Pride Lands in plain view for all to see, but who would dare challenge a species of the african savanna that make even the lions fear? Unlike lions, hyenas had strong jaws that could break bones and kill, not to mention they could even eat bones. A slight smirk crossed his maw when he saw Pride Rock came into view. The home of his target.
"Come on, little Princess, time to meet your worst nightmare."

Safuma was hanging about her best friend's den, bored and waiting for his return. He had gone out hunting, or that was her best guess, as he had left while she had been taken a nap. Her dreams were peaceful, content with her adventures with Ezekiel and basically playing house with him off and on through the past few weeks. It was fun to be away from home for extended hours, leaving at dawn and returning at dusk. Her siblings jested she had a secret beau, but Safuma merely snorted and went about her business as if their words meant nothing. In truth, they meant plenty. They sent little thrills down her spine, excited at the idea that perhaps Ezekiel felt as she did - that they were just a tad more than friends.
She had napped for an hour or so, perhaps, and had been shocked by the apparent disappearance of her friend. The sun was no longer high and unbearable in the sky, but she had plenty of time before it was time to head home. She had hours to wait for Zeki to return, so she spent them exploring the area around his den. Perhaps there would be a pretty stone he could put in his doorway (how girly of her, she's have to keep that thought to herself) or a secret waterhole they could play in.
It was while she was wandering that she heard a twig snap not too far off. Her ears swivelling forward as her head rose, crimson eyes searching the grass as she listened for more pawsteps (as she assumed the sound had been caused by). Her tail flicked her sides impatiently, wondering if it was Ezekiel meaning to surprise her with a tackle. Flicking an ear, a soft smile spread over her features as she called, "Zex, too late. Game's up. You know I'd win, anyway."

He took the time to follow a very faint scent of that stupid lion friend of his. Ex-friend. It really ticked the male off that his scent was absolutely everywhere! The various waterholes. Some trees. Almost every single hill. What the hell was this lion, some crazed, land loving, pansy? If Ophos remembered right, he had spent a night with the lion looking up at the stars close to the border where he could quickly get back to the den before anyone noticed. However, following the most fresh scent he could find, he nailed the jackpot... and more.
Safuma was here at, to be assumed, Ezekiel's den. Her scent was strong here. Looking at the dirt at the entrance, many of species have came through here. Jackals. Pam... Wild dogs. Leji. And even more, two other lions, a small one and an older one. So that means he had more friends that mattered to him or they were he before to help him make this thing. No lion could make something like this, only hyenas could.
"Mental note; destroy the den later."
As he moved away from the entrance, something crunched under his paw. Moving it aside, it was just a twig. However, the sound gave a response. A sound of a female... A devious smirk crossed his maw as he looked over his shoulder, in the direction of the voice.
"(Oh, such a pathetic female... she would not last a day in our lives. I guess I should put an end to this one then...)" Ophos whispered. Without the need to hide himself, the scavenger made a mad dash toward the lioness. Once in view, he snarled, lunging at her. His target, her legs. Once disabled, perhaps he could... persuade her to listen.

Of all the things that Safuma had been expecting, it had not been a stranger. A hyena, no less. In the seconds that followed her cry for Ezekiel to show himself, she had been bemused by his apparant insistence at remaining hidden. He must really want to enjoy the game, she had thought, and not being a soresport, she had remained stationary so that he might have a better chance at performing a solid pounce. She'd aimed to help a friend, not an enemy.
She hadn't time to recognize the beast pummeling towards her as a friend, once upon a time. Her only thought of recognition was that it was a hyena, it was barreling straight towards her and with an undeniably malicious intent. His snarling teeth were the definite clarification that the canine was not here for a scholarly discussion. Nevertheless, it was too late for her to dart out of the way as surprise had kept her solidly in place.
With a yelp of surprise, she was tackled off her feet by the unknown hyena, limbs scrambling for purchase against the ground or to heave him off her so that she might stand once again. He was heavy and likely an adult, whereas Safuma was an adolescence with absolutely no experience in fending for herself. Lashing out with a paw, claws extended, she hoped to slash the beast across the face to free herself if only for a moment.

Ophos scoffed as he effortlessly pulled his face away, only having her claws graze across his nose. Nothing major. What a pathetic lioness, she was incapable of smelling him? Surely the scent of death and dirt was easy to pick at from the pleasant smell of the Pride Lands. Now, the smell sickened him like no other. Even carrion smelt better than this filthy place. Looking at the lioness, it was exactly as he had imagined. It was that stupid female with longer legs and body. Nothing different, she was as stupid as ever. How could he had ever been able to call her his friend, he would never know.
"Well, well, I came to find Ezekiel before I found you. Oh well, I guess I wouldn't mind killing you first and then aim for the others. You are the weakest after all," He mocked as he looked her over. A lot has changed since the last they met and things change over time. How far did the relationship between Ezekiel and Safuma go? Did it just end at friends? Deep down, he hoped it didn't. He wanted them to have a better liaison. That way, killing her would kill him to, in a sense.
Crouching low, he smirked.
"Are you regreting it yet? Regret meeting me?"
He did not need to wait for an answer, he was going to force it out of her anyways. Ophos snarled again and lunged. First he will get a grip on her, jerk his head to try and tear her apart before pinning her down.

Oh, she smelled him alright. The awful stench of death and decay was an imposter to her nose. She had smelled carrion before, and the kills of her pride, but never was anything like this. Enabled by fear, the scent swept over her like a plague and drove shudders of disgust down her spine. He was of the graveyard, she could guess that much even though she had only met one another from there before. A cub ... Ophos. It was with that thought that realization dawned over her pretty crimson eyes, confused by the recognition of who it was that attacked her - was still attacking her.
"Ophos?" But the accusation that she was weak, or worse yet the weakest, angered her and she snarled a return, "An insult from someone who has to surprise his victims to get the upperhand?" She was all talk, sure, but at least she put forth an effort.
"Regret or not, you'd - " Any retort was cut off by his sudden, second attack. The feeling of bone crushing jaws closing in on her shoulder was enough to make her gasp in pain. She had a brief recollection that this must be how prey felt before it was brought down before she cried out as he attempted to tear her apart with his grip. Slashing out with teeth and claw, she did everything she could to shake him off her even after she was pinned. What was going on?
"Ophos! What is your problem?" She ground out between swipes and gasps of pain, beneath him through the entirety of the attack as she couldn't quite get her feet under her. One foreleg was almost completely rendered unusable by his bite, but she did her best with the remaining three. Her best was hardly enough, given the inaccuracies of her movements, but such is life. She had had no reason to practice true fighting before.

"So you do remember me! Oh, I'm flattered! A filthy thing like you remembered the name of something like me! Well, I must be truly honored to be remembered by a female who has taken my friend from me!"
He snarled as he stood above her. In his mind, since he went back to the graveyard, he still returned to the Pride Lands to play with his best friend, Ezekiel. To find out that he wasn't here he is whenever they played alerted him that something was wrong. Did Safuma rat him out? Did he ditch him for Leji and Pam? Where'd he go? As days passed and he made the effort to come back again and again to find that he wasn't coming that ticked him off. He must have left. He was his friend, right? Zeki always preached about friendship and never leaving anyone behind. So what happened? What about him? Was he not a friend? One not worthy of talking to anymore? The more he thought about that male just ticked him off even more and the only thing to release his anger on was this female. Safuma was still friends with him, she took Zeki from him...
Before he could say anything else, he was hit hard by her paw causing him to jerk away with a snarl. In retaliation, he reached down to her hind paws to grab on and drag her into a more open area rather than the edges of the tall grass. He wasn't gonna let her go that easily.

His demeanor was utterly confusing her. What was he talking about? How had she stolen Zeki away? Where was Ezekiel? She didn't understand what she had done wrong, but something must have happened between Ophos and Ezekiel. Had Zex not told his friend he was going away? He had told Safuma, most assuredly, but had he not let Ophos in on the warning?
Any triump she might have felt when her paw made contact with his pelt was short lived as she was suddenly being dragged into a more open arena. Scrambling at the ground with her forepaws, she attempted to kick with her free hindleg as her claws dug into the dirt in an attempt to stop the movement. What was he planning to do now? Growling under her breath, she tried to reason with him, despite what a complete a*****e he was being.
"Ophos, I didn't do anything! Zeki went away, I didn't take him anywhere." Her ears were pinned against her head, starting to become honestly afraid of what the hyena might do to her if she couldn't get away from him. If she were any smaller, she was almost positive she would already be dead. It was an insanely amusing thought that all the times Ezekiel had made fun of her for being smaller and younger, she could show him now that she was big enough, at least. If she survived.

"Don't you dare lie to me! I can smell him all over you, your little boyfriend. Your stupid, ******** mate! That's it, isn't it? After all this time, you two were in love from the damn beginning. You love him, he loved you, and I would wager you two already have a family together. Where is he then, huh, Princess? Where is your boy? Is he off playing with his cubs? Is that it?"
He snarled before darting away from her a bit. He was quite sure that even if he let there be space between them, he could easily take her down again and perhaps make sure she can't get up and run. She could run as far as she wanted, but he will catch her. Thinking that these two were mates, lovers, and had a family ticked him off even further. Not only did Zeki not tell him that he was going away, he didn't have the heart to tell him that he loved one of their friends, mated, and had a family. Wonderful day to be told all of this in a single day after so many moon cycles without word from the fake noble lion.
"How many were there, Safuma? One? Six? I am sure you damned lions could produce so much since your pride keeps you all safe like a... a... I dunno what! You lions... think you are so much better than us. Think you're the owners of our pack lands, that we are under your paw. I'll make sure that all lions know that we hyenas are the ones to be feared here. We are teh ones you have to watch out for. And I will do it by killing their princess!"
Ophos lunged at her once more. Whatever he did, he just hoped she would regret ever meeting him. Knowing him. Seeing him.

She doubted she ever hated that title more than hearing it from the lips of a hyena. A crazed one, at that. Ears pinned back and eyes wide as she tried to keep an eye on his movements, Safuma balked for a moment as she tried to come up with a retort. Of course she couldn't deny loving him; that's what it was. All this while, she'd loved him and now she wouldn't be able to tell him because this crazy a** hyena had decided to take out his revenge on her. She would never get to have the cubs he accused her of bearing, accused Ezekiel of playing with. Nevertheless, she was irritated and afraid which made her eyes glassy, which only irritated her more. She hated being afraid, and she hated pain. She'd never been in pain and now there seemed to be an abundance of it between her wounded shoulder, paw and heart. How could she have been so stupid? Of course it had felt great to play house, all along she had wanted it to be real.
Raising a paw when he started to dart about, she tried to be ready for when he did lunge again. Claws extended as she swatted at the air, lips pulled back in a warning growl, she snapped, "I'm not his babysitter, I don't know where he is!" Tail lashing her sides, low so she could keep her balance on injured legs, she hissed, "I didn't do a thing to you, Ophos, and Ezekiel is going to kill you when he gets back." She didn't have the heart to add, 'whether I'm alive or not' as she wasn't all that ready to throw in the towel just yet. Instinct drove her forward, pain or no, hopeless or not.
When he lunged, she flattened herself to the ground in the hopes that he would sail over her.

"How about I kill you right now!"
A loud roar split the air in two, more so than the snarls of the hyena. The lion dashed out from the grasses, lunged, wrapped his paws around his neck and bit down like he would with any prey he would hunt. The two males fell to the ground hard, the loud crack noise was proof of that. Luckily, it was the hyena who broke the fall. The grave yard beast flung a paw back, hitting the lion square in the jaw, causing him to back off.
Zeki was here just in the nick of time and he was fully prepared to defend Safuma, even against this hyena. He was close enough to catch word that it was indeed his old friend Ophos, but to see him like this... it was what caught him off guard. But it was Safuma's words what gave him the courage to come and do this; would have done it either way. With a full mane to protect his neck, his claws and fangs to scratch and puncture, he was ready for a good bout with this one. Never before had he won against Ophos in their play fights, but it seems the bars are gone here.
"I never thought it would come down to this, Ophos, but you pushed the line too far as is. I should have told you where I was going, but if I was caught by my elders, then you would have surely been killed and your pack would be to blame," he spoke, feeling up his jaw to make sure it was alright. "But attacking my friend, in my homeland, near my den, you must be more stupid than Leji that one time we found that snake. How about you just turn around and go home, we don't have to fight here."
"Why not? It's the best place! Right before your mate, right before her very eyes. I am sure your cubs are hiding somewhere, perhaps they will love to see me kill their parents. Then I'll make my way to them, one by one," he smirked. He seemed unphased by the sight of his old friend. His heart and mind was already set. He was ready to kill both, though his objective was to make sure the lions would forever regret messing with the Mava'Bunda.
"Cubs? Mate? What are you talking about? Safuma's my friend, we aren't mates. I take back what I said, you are the most stupid out of any of my friends. Just go ho-"
Zeki had no chance to finish his sentence because Ophos had already started his assult. First he tried to get his jaws around his neck, impossible do to his mane which gave the lion the best time to swipe and claw at him with point-blank range. Snarls and roars exchanged more and more. Blood dripped and splattered against the ground. The sounds of cracks came here and there. Ophos' maw could only spew accusations and vulgarity where Zeki could counter with reason and pleas. Safuma was a distraction. Was she safe? Was she alright? Was she far away enough to not get in the way of their quierrel?
Parted again, they let out the second wave of their assault. Ophos bit onto his maw, using his powerful jaws to throw him aside and lunging at him. Zeki retaliated with a swift kick to the gut and a powerful swat to his jaw to cause him tumbling. Luckily, it seemed to daze him.
Taking the time, the lion quickly rushed toward Safuma. He was bleeding all over, even his mane was soaked in blood in some places. His leg was bleeding teh worst of all. The trickle of blood over his face caused him to frequently close his eye; figured it was best to keep it closed. Nuzzling his friend, he tried his best to get her attention.
"Safuma, please, get out of here, get back to Pride Rock, tell Kam-"
Again he was interrupted, however, this time it felt like he was just hit by a rhino. Zeki flew to the side, landing roughly against a rocky area... this time, he wasn't gonna get up. All he could do was groan. Ophos could only laugh tiredly looking at his opponent. He, himself, was in a much worse condition.
"So... who's...." he coughed, hanging his head, but that did not stop his smirk. "killing who..."

At the sound of Ezekiel's voice, her ears pivotted forward and Safuma opened her eyes, though she had never even been aware that she had shut them so tight. If she weren't so scared still, she might've smiled with relief as she watched the red-maned lion go to work on the hyena. They were pretty evenly matched, but when Ezekiel insisted they were only friends, she felt her heart give a little flutter of disappointment. Like a caged bird having freedom flaunted infront of it's face and then stripped away. Her brow creased with some mix of sadness and fear, but her thoughts were interrupted when Ezekiel was suddenly attacked once again. She watched the scuffle, the flung blood as she tried to scramble out of the way when necessary.
She didn't know what to do, but she didn't want to leave her friend. When he stumbled towards her, covered in blood and smearing the liquid on her already bloody pelt when he nuzzled her, her eyes were still wide in fear and confusion. Her attempt at a warning was a sharp, wordless shout that was cut off when she realised she was too late. The sound echoed nevertheless and Safuma heaved herself back to her feet, torn beaten beating the snot out of Ophos now that he was weakened or seeing to Ezekiel. Casting the hyena a cautious glare, she pawed as quick as she could to her friend's side where she nuzzled an uninjured limb carefully. "Ezekiel?"
Her tail was low and she glanced over her injured shoulder at the hyena to be sure he wasn't come to attack her while she tried to get Ezekiel back up. She would defend him as best she could, until she died or passed out, whichever came first, if she had to.

"Teach you both... good guys... don't win... Ezekiel would have lost anyways..."
he spoke, but strange, as he did, his jaw would look a bit odd and he would constantly lick his lips. It was a bit broken. That will be fixed. But the blood loss was making him very light headed. It seemed that the lion was capable of making its prey bleed to death if the suffocation technique was not doable. What bothered the hyena most was that they were still lying to him. They weren't mates... chayeah right, then why would he defend her so loyally? It was as if he would have died before he allowed him to hurt her. Putting her safety before his own...
Very much like what he preached.
"Don't you lie to me, Zeki... You love this filthy lioness, just because you won't admit it doesn't mean it isn't true. I bet you dream about her, don't yo-"
Ophos gave another sputter, this time blood was trickling out from the side of his maw. If he passed out here, then he was definitely a goner. It was best to wrap things up.
"You lions ever mess with the Mava'bunda... I will come back and kill you both, that I will promise. If it is one thing I learned from bloody over there is that promises are always kept. I'll make you regret ever knowing a hyena..."
Without much need to say anymore, he spat on the ground and left.
Zeki laid silently by Safuma, his mind was out of it.
I must protect her...
She has to be alright... I'll never forgive myself...
I can't let her down...
I have to tell her...
