Abedari had left the pridelands only a few hours earlier. The shock had not worn off entirely and his nerves were still shaken. Stopping only in order to gasp for breath and take a short rest, the male looked around for some source of water. He had burned a sweat and was not as young as he once was. Spotting a stream not so far off, the male began to slowly pad towards it. The site of the cool, rippling water was inspiration enough to continue moving.

Once he reached the water's edge, the male knelt down and began to lap up the water vigorously. Who was the cub with Memetuka? Had she moved on so far without him? Abedari shook his head. So many years had passed between them, who was he to think that she might have been as foolish as he? It was clear by her look of absolute fear that nothing was left within her heart. Who was he to care for her any longer?

The day was warm enough without high doses of shock to help, and another traveler was finding the idea of a drink refreshing. And so, into view came a rather colorful lioness, her coat the color of the sunset, her hair streaked shades of blue. Her green eyes watched her surroundings, constantly moving. She seemed as if she was observing everything at once, and having a conversation with an amusing voice in her head. A necklace hung around her neck, the various charms tapping each other slightly as she walked. The tapping ceased as she reached the water's edge. She noted the other lion's presence with a smile. "Hello there," she said politely. Her manners sufficed, she dipped her head and took a long drink of the cool water.

It was the lioness' jingling necklace that gave her away as she approached the water. Lifting his head, the male almost jumped at the site of a golden colored female. He was not a great fan of the pridelands as they had been the home of the lioness that he once loved dearly and he almost mistook this new female as one of them. Upon getting a better look, it seemed as though she was just as much rogue as he was. With a smile, Abedari took a breath and lowered his head respectfully. He wasn't quite himself just yet, but perhaps the beautiful lioness could clear his mind. "Afternoon," Abedari said calmly, pointing out that the sun was not as high as in the morning.

Tariki smiled, her thirst quenched. She then waded into the stream, the water washing the dried dirt and grass from her paws, as well as soothing the muscles. She closed her eyes and sighed contentedly. She loved to travel, but one's paws did get sore from constant use, and she had been on the move all morning, stopping only for a large breakfast. She observed the male as he drank, her look casual. Her eyes seemed to pick up a lot, however. The lion looked as if he'd had a rough day. Perhaps she could help cheer him. "A lovely day, isn't it?" She wanted to at least make sure the male was in the mood for a conversation.

Returning to the water, Abedari took one more deep drink before he was entirely satisfied. As the female began to enter the stream, the male took a few paces back in order to get a better look at her. She was not as golden as he had originally though, in fact, her fur was a bright, bold orange color. The brightness of her fur reminded him of stories he had heard of the firekin, though he knew that they were red in color. In addition to her orange, she also had interesting blue striped fur atop her head and tail. It was gorgeous and something that he had not seen on other females he had met in the past. Clearing his throat, he prepared to respond to her. Her voice was something soothing to hear after the awful conversation with Memetuka. "A day well enough for traveling. I will be more pleased once the sun settles farther down." Abedari spoke from experience and with a charming grin. "The name is Abedari, may you be so kind as to offer your own name?"

Tariki grinned. Oh, this one was a charmer. But he was polite, too, so Riki decided not to tease him. "It was indeed very pleasant for traveling. I found I was able to see quite a bit today." Her green eyes danced in the afternoon light, catching the reflection from the water. She waded out and sat on the shore. "I'm Tariki'Jamaa, though most call me Riki. It's a pleasure to meet you, Abedari."

When the lioness finally offered her name, the male smiled. Tariki'Jamaa, he thought to himself. He did not think much as to the meanings of names, but whatever her name meant, it sounded lovely. "Well, I am glad to meet you, Tariki," Abedari would not be so quick to use a nickname of someone he did not know very well. And to keep the conversation going, he lowered his body to the ground to become comfortable and asked her a few questions, "What type of sites caught your fancy? I wish I could say that I saw as much as you. Sadly, the most excitement I got today was a long run.." The male's voice trailed off lightly, as though there was more to his story.

Tariki waited for a moment to see if he would continue. He did not, however, so she replied. "Well, nothing extraordinary, really. I just managed to travel a pretty great distance by my calculations. I enjoy visiting the prides when they let me. It's great to be able to meet so many new people." She settled herself comfortably. "And you? Are there places that you enjoy visiting?"

"There are so many places that I enjoy that it is difficult to name them all. The Bahari'mtoto stands out to me as I only recently passed by their great beaches and observed the interactions between the lions. I find it fascinating how relaxed their culture is, not to mention how diverse the land. Did you know that in addition to the ocean, they also have a small jungle area farther off?" Abedari spoke easily, feeling relaxed in the presence of this female. But before she could answer, the male quickly added. "And how do you mean, 'by your calculations?'" Abedari asked curiously. He had never heard of any traveler doing such a thing, or how it would help them.

Tariki chuckled, but answered quickly, not wanting to offend. "No real calculations. I just watch to see how long I travel in a day, and the pace at which I travel, and I can roughly estimate how far I've walked in that day." She stretched, her leg muscles grateful for the movement. "You see, I like to travel rather far, so I can see different places. I also am willing to .... be hired out in a way. If someone needs an escort getting to a certain place, or a cub is missing or the like, I'm happy to help out."

Tariki's chuckle caused Abedari to smile warmly. He was glad that the female appeared to enjoy his company. He was worried for awhile that he had entirely lost his charm. Before the lioness spoke, it occurred to the male how nice it would be to have company during his travels. While he was unable to dedicate himself to any individual pride, he could see no harm in enjoying the company of another for a short period of time. With a laugh, the male was about ready to toss the idea when Tariki proposed to be hired. Hired? Abedari thought curiously. It was not entirely what he wished for, but was close enough. He couldn't expect some type of friendship to blossom so quickly. "That's an interesting offer. I can't say that I need direction, but-" Abedari paused. Would she be interested in simply acompanying him, or would she need some goal? Deciding to take a chance, Abedari threw out his offer, "Perhaps you might simply acompany me during a portion of my travels? Leave when you care to?"

Tariki lifted her head at his words, surprised. She had simply been explaining her little job, she hadn't expected an offer. She grinned.

"I should love to travel with you for a while. Is there anywhere in particular you are headed?"

She spoke in a manner that indicated that she didn't see this as being 'hired'. This was even nicer, being asked just to travel with someone for a while. Tariki loved making new friends. It was why the rogue life was perfect for her.

She toyed absentmindedly with one of the charms on her necklace, a polished stone. She envisioned the mental map she had drawn up in her head. It wasn't anywhere near exact, but she knew about where she was and which way she had to go to get somewhere.

((I was thinking that for their travels, we can either post in the roguelands, near the Kzingo'zaa after their long journey, or visit each pride along the way with them getting to know one another better? We can speak with pride member owners and get to know the prides a little better?))

Abedari thought deeply on the lioness' question. He had visited most prides at least once, though his trips were often cut short when feelings grew stronger for those who lived within the prides. Attachment made traveling so much more difficult. In the past Abedari had let himself care for another, only to be entirely hurt and cast aside. The rejection was more than the male would bear and was something he would never care to feel again.

Glancing far from the pridelands, Abedari smiled and then returned his gaze to her. "How about the Kizingo'zaa?" Abedari did not intentionally request a pride such a great traveling distance away, but simply hoped to put the pridelands as far behind him as possible. Realising that his request was much to ask for, the male let out a light chuckle and corrected himself, "It is a long journey and if you feel that there are other things that you must attend to, I will fully understand."

As he waited for an answer, the male watched as Tariki toyed with the polished stone about her necklace. He found the item interesting to say the least, but was more curious about the story that could be told about it. As a wanderer, she certainly didn't seem the type to wear something without meaning to her.

((Well, I still don't know exactly what I'm going to do with her yet, plot-wise. But I'd love a few RPs along the way of the two of them meeting some others. I can have her travel with him until I figure her future out. =3 ))

Tariki smiled lightly, her eyes taking on a far-away look as she tried to picture where the Kizingo-zaa resided. She has a general idea of which direction, but couldn't recall how far it was, save that it was indeed a long trip.

"Well, I should love to accompany you, at least for a while," she stated finally.

She saw his glance at her necklace and smiled.

"These are gifts given to me by some that I have met in my travels."

She held the polished stone up and gazed fondly at it.

"This was given to me by a small cub I found out wandering. He had gotten lost, and managed to get rather far from home. Luckily, I had seen his parents and their pride earlier and helped him get back home."

Abedari would not have expected any other answer from the lioness, though he was thankful for any company at all. It had been so long since he'd conversed with someone so similar to himself. While he enjoyed visiting the various prides, it was different. No one understood the life of a rogue, until they lived the life themselves.

When Tariki explained the necklace, the male nodded and smiled. It was interesting that so many lions had offered shining stones in friendship, but the lion thought nothing of it. He had been offered gifts before, but could never accept. To carry something of his companions would only be another thing to slow him down. "They're beautiful" he said quietly, mind in thought.

As Tariki continued, the male looked up and focused his attention back on her. He enjoyed her story and could tell that she enjoyed it as well. Perhaps she felt she earned each of those stones doing positive deeds? Surely Abedari did not help anyone that much before. He simply traveled and enjoyed himself.

A part of him suddenly felt selfish for feeling that he had something in common with this generous female.

Looking into the distance, Abedari quickly said, "Perhaps we should begin our trek now?"

Tariki grinned and stretched out her sun-colored limbs.

"Sounds good to me!"

She felt her pulse quicken slightly as she grew excited. She always felt this way before traveling. She lived for that quick rush of adrenaline, knowing that there would be lots to see, and not knowing what she might encounter. It was part of the reason she kept traveling. She was simply born for this.

"So, would you care to lead the way?"

Abedari could sense Tariki's excitement, which made him glad of his choice. He had visited the ocean prides before, but they were always lovely sites. Certainly, if the lioness enjoyed small trinkets to remember her visits, she would be entirely amused by the various shells and their meanings that went along with them.

Jumping into the lead and beginning at a quick pace, Abedari smirked and glanced behind him only long enough to answer, "Certainly! I hope you'll enjoy the journey as much as the destination!"

Returning his gaze to the front, Abedari led the way to the Kzingo'zaa, glad to be in the company of a new friend.
