Taka padded forward, as she had been doing since yesterday. She had little to no idea where to go, she just knew she was... somewhere. "It figures..." Taka said to herself as she padded forward, shells clicking together making the slightest tune for her. Normally she'd forget her worries and make up a tune with them, but right now, she was really concerned. Taka'd never been lost before, she'd always known where she was... She just had to tell herself to go on a really long drum quest. "Oh, just a little farther, it'll be fine," she said to herself unhappily, mocking herself the previous day. She sat down moodily and snapping a rock out of the way.Taka took off the strap for her drum and sat it down in front of her, tapping it distractedly.

"I'll never get home..." She said even more unhappily. She had wandered so far that it seemed like she'd never get back home. She sighed and looked up at the partly-cloudy sky. She was almost never sad, except for when she was scared like this, which wasn't often. Taka decided to take a break from walking and try to think. She grabbed her drum by the strap and sat herself under a nearby tree, tail flicking as her mind raced. How would she ever get home?

Today, Raiden was being normal. For a while. No wings, were visible, and unlike in Asherah's case, neither were his horns. He did, after all, want to practice his changing ability. He looked like a normal black cub. His ears, however, did seem to hear even that half-hearted tapping of Taka's drum, and part of him was.. curious.

He felt mimicked, actually. It didn't sound too much like Thunder, but similar enough, like a low, low rumble of it. Was someone trying to mimic him? If so, they were doing a lousy job! With a huff, the boy began to trot in the direction of the sound, ears perked forward, tail twitching behind him.

It wasn't long before he found the yellow juvenile, and that.. odd object with her. Curiosity got the best of him; and not only that, he could have a ittle fun with this mortal.

"Hey! " He said loudly, walking over to her. "You, whats that? "

Taka's ear flicked at the sound of someone's voice. She pulled herself out of her thoughts and looked up to see a black-and-white cub. His voice seemed really strong, so much so that she noted it, though it was quickly disregarded. She rose back up to her paws. "This is a drum," she said simply, lifting a brown-toed paw and giving it a good, whole-hearted beat. Only one, she let it resonate and gave a happy little smile. She so loved the sound of the drum- she guessed it was in her blood.

"It's made of a gourd and some animal's hide. I think mom said mine was a gazelle..." She said, voice trailing off. "You've never seen one? They're pretty cool. You can give it a beat if you promise you won't break it," Taka said, pushing it forward a little. The stranger seemed a bit gruff, but Taka didn't really mind. She'd found that gruff lions weren't always bad.

"My name's Jua Na-Taka, by the way, but everyone just calls me Taka. Who're you?" She wasn't going to let someone play her drum and not ever learn their name. She'd wait to see if the stranger was around these parts. If he was... maybe he could help her get home?

Hm. A gourd.. odd name. The cub ruffled his unseen wings, tightening them against his body for a moment. The boy lifted a paw, tapping the gourd as she indicated him to, and couldn't help but feel slightly smug at how much louder he could do this stuff.

"I'm Raiden, I live somehwere around here." He said, tilting his head. "Play something on that, " He said, sitting down and looking up at her, ears perked. Maybe she had some trick with this thing.. or maybe he could have some fun.

"Nice to meet you Raiden!" Taka said as he tapped it. She smiled, she took great pride in her drum.

"A song, huh? Hm...." She sat and considered it for a little while. What song to play? She didn't have her mother's wide repertoire yet, and she didn't have her own song all worked out, but she was certainly developing it.

She'd admit it. "I'm working on a song. Where I come from, one's song is like... a window to their soul. It tells something about them, it's really important. We all leave around my age to find our song, or at least come up with a beginning for it. I'll play what I've got, but remember, it's not done yet!" She warned him as she sat proudly. She flexed both paws before starting in on an upbeat song with lots of syncopation. Her drum gave off an almost tinny sound, but something about it was still strong. She had it get a little louder and faster before she stopped rather abruptly.

"That's all the more I've got worked out right now." It was a good minute's-worth of music, but it still was obvious that there was more to add. "I can play you something else on it, if you'd like..." She said, hoping her song wasn't too disappointing. She really liked it thus far.

He watched her, ears perked following the movements of her paw as they beat on the skin. Hm. He knew exactly what to do now. "Thats pretty cool, " He said, though still a cub, he hadn't bothered much about the song being part of her soul sort of thing just yet. Though he did get how it felt; thunder had its own song, he was Raiden, the song of the storms.

"I bet I can do that! " Of course a first-timer could do something similar.

"Alright then," Taka said smugly as she nudged the drum back over to the confident cub. Something in her doubted that he could repeat her song exactly, but she was sure he could come up with something of his own. If only she knew what he was capable of... She'd have a very easy time breaking down her own pride and admitting defeat- that he was better at rhythm. For the time being, though, she still had it in the back of her mind that she was better. After all, Taka was older, and probably better trained than this cub. She completely forgot that she was lost, caught up in the moment and the unannounced challenge.

Perhaps he was mean for being this smug. He was so smug right now, though good enough not to let it show. "I don't need that, " He said, gently nudging the drum back towards the juvenile. Though he did look at her for a moment, through half closed eyes, if only to see her expression, Raiden sat on his haunches, raising his front paws and holding them as if he did in fact have a drum in front of him. Except he didn't, just air. This would be fun.

Soon enough, he started a few motions, just practicing his paws, not sound came. If he had a drum, it'd simply be those quick rumbles, like a drum roll. But not a sound. Until suddenly, a loud, strong drumming sound erupted out of the air beneath his paws, repeating the beat Taka had played, only louder, stronger, as if thunder itself had decided it'd felt like playing a new tune.

And that was true; it crackled to the boy's tail, when he flicked it for a "new touch". He also added a bit of his own creation, improvising calmly and adding in a few extra beats; he was used to making stuff up as he went.

Soon enough, though, he stopped, the same way she had, and beat his two front paws on the ground like someone settling a deal would. "Top that. "

Taka watched as the cub pushed the drum back towards her with a confused look. She pulled it back a little closer to her and watched him intently. He was up to something, but what? She watched as he raised his paws, waiting for something to happen when he put them down, but they fell silently and drummed on air. Taka shook her head with a "That's not how you do it" look.

Then, out of nowhere, came the biggest sound she'd ever heard! Her eyes widened immediately and her jaw dropped. How the heck?!? Then his tail did some beats too!

When he had finished and given her a challenge, Taka couldn't help but stare for a moment. She finally managed to shut her mouth, rose to her paws, and took a swipe at the area under where his paws had been. No drum. "How... How did you do that!?" She kept glancing from under where his paws had been to his smug grin, and finally kept her pink eyes on his face. "That was amazing!!"

Ooh, that'd been soooo so good. He paused for a bit, shrugging his shoulders modestly, before smirking. "Oh, there's not much to it, " He waved a paw in the air, looking at the sky for a moment. When he looked back, he had wings and horns. They didn't leap out of no were, it was almsot like they'd always been there. Taka just wouldn't have been able to see them.

"I can tell you probably haven't met a god! " he grinned, he loved it when mortals hadn't seen a god! the expressions, ah the expressions. "I'm thunder. " He said it simply like that. He was thunder; it obeyed him.

Mostly. He was a cub and tumbled sometimes with it, but today it was behaving, which was good for his image.

"A god?" Taka said slowly, mulling over the word as she'd said it. She'd heard what they were, that they could do strange things that nobody else could do... She had one right in front of her eyes! And soon, he proved it even further as wings and horns slowly showed themselves.

"Wow!" Taka said, abandoning her drum behind her as she padded forward and prodded at one of his horns once just to see if it was real, solid. It was, she hopped back to a more typical distance. "You control thunder? That's how you made that song!" Taka turned her head. This cub was... a god!

"What's it like, how do you do it? Do you just think and BAM?" Taka said, on her paws again, tail flicking excitedly. This was so cool!!
PostPosted: Wed Mar 26, 2008 5:42 pm

"Ya better believe it! " This was quite a good ego stroke, and he was happy. Raiden loved attention, and even though his horn was being prodded by this stranger, he didn't really mind. Attention was attention!

"I don't just control it, " He corrected. "I AM thunder. We're one, " to a mortal, though, the bond with ones domain might be hard to understand. They were one; thunder was him and he was thunder.

"Yeah, basically. I can also mix it up and do fun stuff-- check this out. " He took in a deep breath, then simple as that, he roared. Now, as a cub, usually stuff like this ended out in a pathetic little "rawr", however, he sounded just like an adult male-- perhaps a little bit louder, clearer. Thunder wasn't the same as a roar, but it could sure as hell pass off as it sometime.

You needed a very good ear to catch that, though.

As Raiden didn't understand the bond between one and their song, Taka didn't fully understand the bond between a god and his domain, but she figured it was something along the lines of her song-- She was it, and it was her.

And then he roared. How could he possibly do that? He was... smaller than her, and he had a deeper roar than anything she could muster up. "That's really cool! You must be able to scare even adults! Do ya ever creep up on someone and then make a big thunderclap?" She asked with a wry grin on her muzzle. Oh, what would her mother think if she'd heard that question? Taka didn't normally cause trouble, but sometimes she'd have a little streak.

"Do I look like I don't? " Rai grinned, ruffling his wings slightly. "My sister doesn't like it. Actually, I don't think many of my siblings do. " He tapped his chins. "My siblings are gods too, by the way. Arrogance, Energy, Guilt aaaand Fireflies. My mom is lightning. " He nodded, feeling in a bit of a chatty mood.

"Mom adopted some kid before we were born-- I scare her all the time. "

"Wow!" It made sense that he'd have siblings that are gods too, but she hadn't really thought about it. Such awesome domains, too! "I'll bet your family is really cool!" Taka would've loved to visit them, but something told her she didn't have the time.

The gold lioness chuckled at the god cub's story. He did seem like a bit of a trouble-maker. She bet it would be fun to sneak up on someone and let out a thunder clap, though she could only imagine.

"Raiden," she said, changing the topic, "You should come to visit my pride when you're allowed to wander. I know a lot of people who would love to meet you! Besides, you'd be sooo cool to have around at a drum ceremony..." Simply this cub's roar rivaled the most exciting songs, it sent that rumble through one's body.
