Hera felt lonely. It had been a few days since she had met Mezi, the leopard hybrid and since then she had been alone. She had even gone out of her way to move to more vulnerable, open land in the hopes that someone would spot her and come for a chat. But, alas, it had never happened and soon she found herself talking to nothing but thin air, hoping that she wasn't going mad.
"Maybe I should just give up and go home...wait for Mezi back at the jungle." She muttered, to herself. It wasn't often that Hera lost her bright smile but today it had slipped, leaving her looking slightly fatigued and extremely lonely.
This was all wrong! She had left the jungle to get away from the despair that lonliness brought. But this land was just as silent, just as empty. She craved another voice, craved to be close to someone. She needed company as one needs air to breathe.
She plopped down in the shade and sighed, watching her tail buffett dust clouds from the ground beneath her. The trees here were scraggly, horrible little trees. Nothing like the lush green ones of her homeland. Ugh...awful. She felt awful.

Naima looked out across the plains of these rogue lands, and spotted a red spot out in the distance. From what she could see it appeared to be a female leopardess. Wasting no time, Naima hurried out toward the other leopardess. The sun was in the middle of the sky, and beat down on Naima's bright orange coat as she ran.
As she approached she heard the other more melancholy female talk to herself. Naima wasn't a bubbling optimist, but she didn't like being around people who weren't happy. "Well, I certainly don't know who Mezi is, but I'm never one for giving up." Without properly introducing herself she blushed, embarrassed by her rash appearance.
"I'm sorry. I should have introduced myself. I'm Naima." She bowed her head, and flashed a charismatic smile at the other leopardess. "I shouldn't have barged in on your privacy like that, but I don't like seeing others upset."

Hera was startled but the fear faded in her eyes when she set eyes on a leopard. A leopard who was slightly smaller and younger than herself at that. Odd, Hera hadn't ever realised that she'd been growing all this time. Deep down she really felt like a cub still. Now, seeing this clearly grown-up leopard she realised that she herself was grown-up. The realisation of this made her heart feel slightly dull, though she wasn't sure why.
"H-hello." She paused, cleared her throat, it seemed to have dried up from the shock of the newcomer's arrival. "Don't worry about it. I'm glad you showed up." She smiled with earnest. "I don't much like being alone and meeting someone new is far more interesting than spending another day alone, right?" She smiled.
"Mezi? Oh, he's my friend. A brilliant purple leopard." She wouldn't mention that he was a hybrid. Mezi didn't seem too happy about that fact so she wasn't going to go blurting it out in front of people.
"And I'm Hera, a former leopard of the jungle, though I'll be going back there soon." Yes, she needed the trees.

Naima smiled, somewhat intimidated by the other leopardess's kindness. Recently, she wasn't entirely sure what was going on with herself and others, so she started to be skeptical about the intentions of others. However, this other leopardess certainly seemed innocent. "I don't like being alone, either." Naima did not only dislike being alone, she loathed it. The loneliness she had been experiencing lately was like jabbing a knife into her heart, and everyday she didn't get to talk to someone the knife went in further, causing more pain.
Trying to focus on her meeting with this other leopardess, and not her internal struggle, Naima sighed and put on a smile. "It certainly is great to meet another leopardess. I don't think I've seen many around lately." She listened, as the other female described her friend and suddenly was a bit jealous. Naima wished she had someone she could call a friend. "Oh, Mezi sounds great. Maybe I'll be able to meet him someday."
"It's a pleasure to meet you, Hera." Naima had never really experienced the jungle before. She had always lived in the savanna and wondered what it was like living out there. "The jungle? That sounds interesting. What's it like out there? I don't think I've ever been able to visit."
