"Fishing, fishing, fishing..."
Uziri tugged in the string that held her pilfered bobber, inspecting the hook.
"Hm. No fish."
Twirling it around her head like a bola, Uziri pitched the hook back into the water and waited with surprising patience. It was doubtful that she would catch anything, seeing as it was a fountain in the middle of the park, but one couldn't grudge her her efforts.
"Dooo de doo, I am fishing, I am fishing..."

The park was the perfect place to spend an afternoon, or it was more like Shu just wanted to show Jiang off...
Shu carried Jiang in a strange contraption against her chest. She wasn’t exactly sure what this thing was called, but it was keeping Jiang from cracking her head open on the pavement…and that’s all that really mattered.
Jiang clung to her guardian’s chest in sheer delight. She loved being able to explore new sites from a different angle than before. Her fragile tail blew ever so slightly in the breeze as her paper thin wings fluttered about. Jiang cooed along with the songbirds that flew overhead, what interesting sounds they made. Suddenly, a familiar sound rang in Jiang’s ears. Water. The trickle of water, the safe sound that Jiang could recognize from any angle, with her eyes closed or even from a mile away.
“WaWa!” Jiang hollered, beckoning her guardian to go in the direction of where the water was coming from.
Shu glanced down at Jiang in utter confusion. “Wa..” She thought for a second
“Waa-tar.” Jiang burbled.
“Oh! Water.” Shu now heard the trickling sound as well, and noticed the fountain that was placed conveniently right in front of them.
From a short distance Jiang could see a young girl fishing in there was completely amused. She wanted to get in on the action so badly and began to tug on her guardian’s hair.
“Ok! OK! Jiang.” Shu responded and approached the fountain.

Uziri eyed her new companions mildly, reeling in her fishing line again.
"Don't be loud," she said clearly. "You'll scare th' fish away."
She looked into the fountain, and her face scrunched up in dissatisfaction. The fish. There were none. Drat!
"Bah," she said, balling up her fishing line and throwing it over her shoulder. She walked boldly up to the new woman and her child and put her hands on her hips.
"My name is Uziri and you look like a fish and I was fishing earlier but I didn't catch anythin' so that's okay," she said in one long run-on sentence. "Who are you and what are you doin' here."

“Oh, I'm sorry.” Shu said in a hushed tone as a small smile crept upon her lips.
Jiang, who naturally had no clue what this girl was saying, giggled loudly. She was just enjoying the site of the water. “Wa-tar! Wa-tar!” The koi girl wriggled around in her carrier, suddenly having the urge to swim.
“This is Jiang.” Shu nodded as she pulled Jiang out of her carrier and settled the girl in her arms. “And I’m Shu.”
“It’s a nice day, so we decided to go for a walk.” Shu replied, trying to keep a soft voice because she assumed children like to be spoken in such a way…she was new at this whole motherly figure thing. "and Jiang likes water so we decided to come over."
“So Uziri, what type of fish are in this fountain?” Shu inquired with her usual smile.

"S'okay, you didn't mean it," Uziri said with a dismissive nod, retaking her seat on the lip of the fountain. She trailed her fingers in the water, eyeing her company again.
"Shu," she parroted. "Jiang. I'll 'member. I like names."
Looking for her fishing line and remembering she'd thrown it away, Uziri shrugged and splashed a little.
"Sharks," she said. "The kind that go 'arararararaaaar' and eat people. Like, like in that movie? With that guy? And that thing? Those. I'd like one. I'd name it Sherman."

“I’d say Sherman is a rather fine name for a shark.” Shu laughed lightly and situated herself on the edge of the fountain. “Do you come here often to fish?”
Jiang wriggled in her guardian’s arms, who cared about water now. Who was this strange character? “Yo-u!” She pointed her fingers towards Uziri with great curiosity. “You-!” Jiang repeated again, if only she could pull this "creature's" hair or even grab hold of her clothing or something…
Shu glanced down at Jiang hoping the baby wouldn’t send this girl off crying to her parents. “I think Jiang likes you.” …You could say that. Jiang was simply caught up in the idea of tugging on something, no matter what this something was attached to. She had grown quite tried of her own mother’s hair, the usual earrings and stray bra straps.

Looking pleased that Shu approved of her brilliant ideas, Uziri picked her teeth leisurely, considering.
"...sometimes," she said after a moment. "Sometimes Da takes me here. Sometimes Oliver too, but then he leaves like he did today wi'out me so I stayed."
Giving Jiang a surprised look, Uziri reached out with a tendril of her shadow-aura and beeped the baby's nose.
"She's cute," Zee said seriously. "Does she do tricks?"

Shu nodded as if she understood exactly what Uziri was talking about. She probably looked like a fool, bopping her head up and down with a crooked smile.
Jiang followed the limb of the shadow aura as if made it's way towards her. When it reached her nose, she became cross-eyed while desperately trying to see it up close. It touched her? It was silly. Jiang couldn't help but giggle. Now that was something she wanted to pull. "You!" Jiang wobbled a chubby finger towards the purple aura. "I-You!" How she craved to just touch it!
"Tricks?" Shu began to laugh than quickly pulled her hand over her mouth. "I-i mean, none that i know of yet. Does being cute count as a trick?"

Uziri grinned. Yeah, being cute was a decent trick. The aura-tendril wrapped around Jiang's hand loosely, wiggling a little.
"I'm not cute," she notified Shu proudly, wiping her nose on her sleeve. "Da says I'm his lil' monster."
She beamed up at Shu, waiting for more approval.

Jiang cooed at the site of the aura as it wrapped around her hand. She took her other hand and attempted to take a grab at it, but found that mobility in her mother's arms wasn't as easy as it looked. All she wanted was to tug it, was it so much to ask? But wait! Jiang started to violently shake her aura embraced hand violently. "Shac! Shac!" The baby giggled.
"What did you do?" Shu asked playfully. She could imagine that Uziri intruded on her father while he was going to the bathroom, or even worse, flushed the toilet was he was showering. "Well, I wouldn't say that you are a monster. I mean, you seem pretty friendly to me..." Shu nodded her head in a approval with a small laugh.

Grinning at the baby, Uziri looked up at Shu with an sly expression.
"I say dirty words," she said. "An' I steal sometimes. One time I punched a boy 'cause he was bein' mean to a doggy, an' I saved th' tooth I knocked out. You wanna see?"
And she dug said tooth out of her pocket. Granted, it was tiny and so a baby tooth that had probably been loose anyway, but it was the fact that Uziri had saved it at all that was rather strange. The skulls that she wore about her neck glowed a bit brighter as though in pride as she regarded her prize.
