So the Airforce announced it would discontinue use of the F-117 and focus on the F-22 for the new stealth tactical attack aircraft.
So... When do you think Israel will get their first F-117s? And will it distablize anything or perhaps help certain situations.

Well you know my hippie opinion on that jibber jabber already. However, I wonder what's so much better about this F-22, and if they really think it will solve anything...

The F-22 is the supreme air supremacy craft. It's hard to see visually, barely shows up on radar, and I believe it has vertical lift capabilities similar to what you'd see in a helicopter, sans roters and blades. In other words, it allows aerial operations to be performed with minimal risk to the pilot, and with absolute versatility.

Dis Domnu The F-22 is the supreme air supremacy craft. It's hard to see visually, barely shows up on radar, and I believe it has vertical lift capabilities similar to what you'd see in a helicopter,. Your mistaking that for the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter, you know the one that was built for the Marines, Airforce, and the Navy, (screw the army, they don't get one blaugh ) Anyrate, the Joint Strike Fighter is a single engine with verticle thrust deflection designed for air to air intercept and ground strike. It will replace the F-16, F-14s Harriers and anything with an A designation in our military. The F-22 Raptor on the other hand is an Stealth Air Superiority Interceptor, with vertical thrust vectoring. Means the engines pivot up or down when it's in flight. It can basically turn on a dime, Which is specifically designed to shoot down other air targets before the air targets locate the Fighter. It's going to replace my beloved F-15, as well as all F designated. And since it's replacing the F-117, it's going to have ground attack capabilites as well. This will aslo spell out the end for the F-100 series, which originally was designed as dual purpose ground strike/interceptors. After vietnam all F-100s (F-111s F-105s F-117s etc) were tactical bombers with no air to air missions.

I heard Israel has remote control type planes. I don't know if they use them for violence and stuff, but it sounds like they're on top of things. I know they can only develop that stuff because of our "money", but it seems like they are always one step ahead.

UAV-Predator aka RQ-1 It's an unmanned aerial vehicle which carries a pair of hellfire laser-guided missiles. It's video recording system sends real time images back to the command post, usually a few hundred miles away, if command sees a valid target, it fires it's 2 missiles at it. Either destroying it, or making a big enough blast for the nearby strike aircraft to look down and say, "I see what you did there!" and attack the same place. Made American, Tested Afghanistan, Sold to Israel.

They're useful for recon, launching missiles at single targets, and gunning down infantry in the open. Combine UAV and SWORDS assaults, and you've got the ultimate mechanized assault. <____< It's like a wet dream come true. sweatdrop

While that is entirely bad a**, I'd prefer to see 'em on UAVs and SWORDS.
On topic: If Israel gets stealth tech, bye bye Iranian military.

Dis Domnu If Israel gets stealth tech, bye bye Iranian military. I dunno about that. However in the unlikely event that Israel bombs Iran nuclear refinery in a first strike. They wouldn't use stealth planes, as then the world would know they had them. They're most likely going to be used for air raids over Lebanon to knock out rocket trucks.

Iran is more sophisticated than we give them credit for. I think people believe that because it's in the middle east and isn't Israel, that Iran is just another Iraq. I mean, it's only one letter difference!
