Alyna hadn't wanted to have a foalsitter. She had fought her mother, protesting loudly. She was too old for a foalsitter, after all. According to Alyna, the only foals that needed foalsitting were the ones still in baskets. And she was much too old for that.
But now she followed at her foalsitter's heels, having been promptly dropped off by her mother. Alyna couldn't understand why her parents wanted to spend time alone together. She thought it was more fun when the whole family was together, but then again her parents were kind of weird.
For a while it looked like she wouldn't have to have a foalsitter. When her mom found out that the village nearby had burned, she had stopped talking about it. Alyna had been hopeful, but alas, it was not to be. Her mother had brought it back up, and this time nothing interfered with those plans...even though Alyna had wanted to somehow escape it entirely.

Although undoubtedly sorrowful about the loss of her village, Seralin did not let it show. With a bright smile, Sera looked to the foal left in her care. "Y'know, just becausse I'm your foalsitter doesn't mean you can't have fun!" She said, happy and upbeat as she could, with a little bounce to her step. "Tell me -- what do you find fun?" Those pale blue eyes leveled with little Alyna's with a youthful sparkle.

Alyna pouted a bit. "Are you sure about that?" she asked, her sky blue eyes speaking distrust. "Aren't foalsitters supposed to be mean? You're not really doing your job then..." Alyna remarked, beginning to warm up towards Sera. "As far as what I find fun...I like almost everything. Tag...hide and seek...well, those are the only two games I know, but I like them!" Alyna said, a shy little smile lifting the corners of her mouth.

"Maybe the old grouchy sitters-" She giggled, "-But now me. Now, lesse,..hide and seek? Well, that would defeat the purpose of watching you, wouldn't it? Hnhn. anything else?"
Getting to watch little Alyna did well to take the young mare's mind off of what she had lost. It reminded her of what she still had -- friends.

Alyna smiled sweetly. "But hide and seek would be so much fun!" she laughed. "I don't know any more games...but I do like to explore! Mom doesn't like it when I do that, though. I wonder why?" Alyna frowned. She didn't understand that it wasn't a good idea for little foals to wander off by themselves.

"Well," Sera began, "It's not good for young foals to go out on thier own. There arou mountain lions, and all sorts of beasts! Even twoleggers that would love to take a pretty little foal home with them!" She said as if telling a scarey story. "BUT! Exploring with a friend just might work! Maybe I can scare off the mountain lions, eh? Tehehe!" With a wink, Sera kicked at the air with a hoof, as if kicking at a mountain lion.

Alyna grinned. "Nothing has happened yet. I've met a lot of new Soquili...but I haven't been eaten by a mountain lion...and I haven't ever met a two legger. What are they like?" she asked, suddenly serious.
Shaking her head to clear it, she continued. "No, I suppose that's not important. What is important is that we go off for our walk. I wanna go exploring!" Alyna's ears pricked up happily, anticipating the walk.
