Today, I hit level 66 and JUST grinded up enough gold(with exalted level reputation with TB) to get my epic mount training. Thankfully, I hit up the AV a lot at 60 so that I could get the free mount.

Now, am I an oddity? What with not having epic mount training 'till 66?

Not really. A lot of people don't get their mounts right away. Some people are better at making gold or at keeping it than others.

I've seen a lot of people still running with their slow mount when they hit 70 so no, you're no oddity ^^

Nowadays I always make sure I have enough gold (gogo dailies) before leveling an alt beyond 40 or 60. Once you've gotten a fast mount, there's no turning back.

And congratz to your new mount, you wont regret it 4laugh

When I was leveling my horde alt on a completely different server, one of the biggest problems I had was that I couldnt give it money from my main. But I found with the nerfed epic mount prices I was able to purchase one after doing hellfire zone in outlands.

I have seen quite a few 60-70 chars running about on their 60% still, but I think in general you want to try and save as best as you can because after you get your 100% ground, you're still looking at getting a flying at 70 which is going to cost you a lot more, and having purchased your ground so late in the game, it might delay the purchase of a flying which limits you from doing some of the content (TK to be specific) at 70.

My advice is just save save save ^_^

Just depends on how you manage your money. When I was leveling, I knew I wanted to get my epic mount quickly because I ******** hate 60% mounts. So I horded all my money and by around level 61, I had enough for it.

Yeah, I agree. I've done the dailies (and alchy spam) to make sure that when I do level my druid to 70, I can essentially start the epic flight form training right away. My guild also is planning on helping me asap before I even start doing other things with her.
However, with the new quest gold uppage and all the vendor trash selling for a lot, it's not hard to make gold. If you keep track of what greens can be sold and what can be DE'd (bother that one enchanting mat friend) you essentially can get quest reward blues and greens (and drops), enchant it when you have mats and do incredibly well on your own and afford an epic land mount at 60. I already can afford the mount and riding at 55. And I remember having to work for months on my priest to get her epic land mount pre-BC.

Funny thing is that I ride my old mount until 68 then I bought my epic.

I literally farmed SFK for my epic mount before bc came out. XD

My advice is save whatever money you can from your professions. Once you hit 70, you'll have all the time in the world to level those, so there's no rush to make the push to 375. I've known many people who dropped tons of money into levelling their professions, and then griped because they couldn't afford a mount. Faster mount = getting places faster = making money back faster. Selling whatever you get from gathering professions = even more money still. wink
