Introduction

This roleplay will take place across both worlds, as it does in the game, but will occur in the same exact time frame as the game does, as if the game didn't happen or, rather, as if it were alternate circumstances.

Disclaimer

I do not have permission to use, I should not be using, and I morally shouldn't allow myself to use the material in this roleplay. It all belongs to Namco and those small companies that developed Tales of Symphonia, which is property of Namco, the name of which I shouldn't even mention without their permission. This is not my idea, save for the erasure of the characters and a different storyline, and I do not have permission to use the material here that belongs to Namco. Feel free to turn me in if you wish but if you do you'll miss out on a really good roleplay. ninja

Progress

The Chosen of Slyvarant is currently living within Iselia, safe from the Desians due to Iselia's non-agression treaty. Today is the day of the Oracle. Today, the Chosen of Sylvarant will make a small journey to the Martel Chapel, and receive a blessing from an angel of Cruxis, and given the journey of regeneration. There will be those that wish to aid the Chosen, and those who wish for the Chosen to fail...

Maps

Sylvarant

http://shadesofsilence.com/sylvarantmap.gif

Ignore the numbers. They mean nothing. NOTHING I SAY! scream

Places of Interest

Iselia is called the Town of Oracles. The Chosen, if born outside this village, will be moved here either early or later in life, until the Oracle is recieved. When the Oracle is recieved, which is when the Cruxis Crystal placed within the Martel Church outside of Iselia glows violently, the Chosen is taken to the Martel Church to begin the journey of regeneration. Iselia has a non-agression treaty with the Desians, primarily to protect the Chosen.

Triet is an oasis town in the middle of the Triet Desert. It is thought that the Desert is so hot because a nearby ruin leads to Efreet.

Izlood is a small fishing village, relatively unoppressed by the Desians, due to the fact that it is small and insignificant. It is the only port town, however, on its continent, and the only way to Palmacosta.

Palmacosta is the largest town in Sylvarant, it is led by a Governor-General who violently opposes the Desian rule. It is a port town as well, and lies on a different continent from Izlood, meaning that a primary mode of travel between the two continents is between Palmacosta and Izlood.

Asgard is known as the city of ruins. It has high historical value, but the standard of living is extremely low in this area. Most people live in almost ancient looking homes, made out of what seems to be mud bricks, with no slanted rooves. Think giant white cubes for houses.

Luin is one of the few prosperous towns, next to Palmacosta in quality but much much smaller due to the area of the island it is built upon.

Hima is a town built in the mountains, in one of the tallest ones, actually. The tallest peak in Hima is actually a plateau, one that can see the Tower of Salvation rise above and into the clouds.

Tethe'alla

(Shazz, I think I got it covered...)

http://shadesofsilence.com/tetheallamap.gif

Once again, ignore the numbers.

Places of Interest

Meltokio is the capital city of Tethe'alla. It is divided between the slums and the upper-class district very harshly, with an elite group living in luxury and many people scrimping to survive. The king of Tethe'alla resides here, as do the pope and the Chosen. There is also a coliseum here, where people can fight for gold or prestige.

Sybak is the university town, connected by a giant drawbridge to Meltokio. It is centered around students, the smartest (or most hardworking) people in Tethe'alla who can afford to go. It is a very clean town.

Mizuho is located in a hidden part of the world with a mountain range behind it and the Gaoracchia Forest in front of it. Its inhabitants all have dark hair and eyes; they tend to be secretive and rarely make contact with others. It is much like feudal Japan, steeped in tradition.

Gaoracchia Forest is a deep wood whose twists and turns can easily confuse even the best navigators. Most of it never sees the light of day, and it's almost impossible to get to Mizuho from here if you don't already know the way.

Flanoir is a rather isolated town upon a snowy island which is a giant bowl, surrounded by mountains and a ring of small islands around it. Flanoir is noted for being home to a rather skilled doctor, among other things.

Ozette is located in a part of the world similar to Mizuho, near the Gaoracchia Forest. However, the route to Ozette is less difficult and less of a labyrinth than the route to Mizuho. Ozette is a small town considered by many to be out in the boondocks.

Altamira is less of a town and more of an amusement park. Part of the area is actually an amusement park, another part is a rather ritzy inn, and the third part is the home of the Lazereno company's president, and their central office. The Lazereno company is a massive business, the only noted one in Tethe'alla, for that matter, and handles almost everything one can imagine.

Heimdall is a village that few are actually aware of. It is surrounded by the Ymir forest, has only one entrance, and is shrouded in mystery. It is home to nothing but elves. Humans, half-elves and dwarves are not permitted entry, although with a letter from Meltokio's king, humans and dwarves can gain entry. Half-elves are once again left out in this area. Also, speaking the name of the ancient hero Mithos is strictly taboo in Heimdall.

Chosens

A Chosen is an individual born, supposedly, with a Cruxis Crystal in their hands (Cruxis Crystals are a special kind of Exsphere, explained later), and their task is to regenerate the world they live in. Of course, since there are two worlds, there are two Chosens, which are parallel to one-another and bound by the Tower of Salvation and the Holy Ground where the hero Mithos ended an ancient war.

Cruxis

The organization of Cruxis is mysterious. They exist, it seems for the moment, at least, only on Sylvarant, and operate primarily upon the waning world where the journey of regeneration will take place. They are an organization of angels and grant angelic powers to the Chosen as they progress on their regeneration journey and break seals.

Seals

Seals are in certain temples, and they correspond to a certain element. There are five seals per world. The seals' purpose is to regenerate the world by replenishing the world's Mana. Seals can only be used by the Chosen One of Mana, of which there are two, one in each world. Each world has Seals, but the Flourishing World's (of which is currently Tethe'alla) Seals do not function... but both can be used by Summoners to acquire a certain Summon Spirit.

The Bipolar Worlds

The two worlds are known as Tethe'alla and Sylvarant. The two exist as if on separate sides of a coin. The two are are not aware of each other, and cannot see each other, but they effect each other. One world is known as the flourishing world, while the other is known as the waning world; this is because mana flows continually from the waning world to the flourishing one. It's an hourglass effect.

Currently, the flourishing world is Tethe'alla. Magitechnology is very advanced there, and the class divisions are strong. They have large cities and universities, sprawling forests, a king, and a pope (for the Church of Martel). The Chosen's family is very rich, even though he or she is not expected to go on any grand quests. Half-elves are persecuted here.

Sylvarant is now the waning world. Though the few residents may not notice, the mana there is thin. Crops are slowly dying; few people have enough money to do more than simply survive, and most towns are fairly small. The class divisions are almost nonexistant, and there is no form of formal, global government (Kings or Queens or Royalty). In this world, the Desians, a sect of (mostly) half-elves terrorize the human population; therefore, half-elves are often looked down upon, Desian or not. As elves seem to require mana to live, there are very few on this world to the point that many believe they're extinct. Here, the Chosens continually quest to awaken the seal and transcend into an angel.

PLEASE NOTE: Only Tethe'allans know the existence of Sylvarant. Sylvarant has no idea that Tethe'alla exists, save for the Desians, who don't reveal it anyways. Therefore, Sylvarant only believes that mana comes from the Seals, and that breaking the Seals allows more mana to flow, and seals the Desians away.

Mana

Mana is the life force of the world, the very foundation of life. Elves and half-elves can sense Mana, whereas humans and dwarves cannot. Mana is harnessed by some technology and some depletes it greatly. There are various myths, legends, and theories as to what Mana is and where it comes from, but there is one truth behind it all...

Summon Spirits

Summon Spirits are elemental beasts, which could, actually, be associated with elemental deities. They can also be created but usually are much weaker than their natural counterparts, and Summon Spirits are only truly understood in Tethe'alla. In Sylvarant, Summon Spirits are regarded as mythical beasts, and while they know they could once be summoned at will, Summoning is a lost art in Sylvarant.

The Summon Spirits are listed below with their world of residence. They are adjacent to their polar opposites. Click on their names to see them (but not too often, as Shazzer tends to be against leeching while at the same time having low bandwidth. Okay? Okay).

Volt, the Summon Spirit of Electricty from Tethe'alla.
Undine, the Summon Spirit of water from Sylvarant.

Celsius, the Summon Spirit of ice from Tethe'alla.
Efreet, the Summon Spirit of fire from Sylvarant.

Gnome, the Summon Spirit of earth from Tethe'alla
The Sylph, the Summon Spirits of wind from Sylvarant.

Shadow, the Summon Spirit of darkness from Tethe'alla.
Luna & Aska, the Summon Spirits of light from Sylvarant

There is also rumored to be two additional Summon Spirits.

Summoners

(note that only myself and Shazzer will have summoner characters. More than one is stretching it enough)

Summoners are few and far between, and their art is delicate, requiring a pact to be made with (most) Summon Spirits, meaning a Summoner can almost never hold a Summon Spirit forever, unless the Spirit is indebted to the Summoner. Most Summon Spirits require a battle with the Summoner to prove their worth, as well. In this case, it helps for the Summoner to have the aid of a group, as Summon Spirits are powerful, but are great aid to the team.

Also, Summon Spirits can be used out of battle to aid in travel, aid in reaching something, but usually only allow themselves to be used in a time of need unless the Summon Spirit owes the Summoner something.

Races of the Bipolar Worlds

Humans -- Typical humans, only cosmetic differences apply. They can have different hair colors, styles, etc. than possible in the world we know.

Elves -- Rare and secretive, Elves have even more exotic hair colors and styles than humans. Only those with elven blood (but even the tiniest trace) can use magic or summon. They live for up to one thousand years.

Half-Elves -- Looked down upon in Tethe'alla, they rule with an iron fist in Sylvarant, running Human Ranches and regarding humans as lesser beings and performing experiments on them. Not all half-elves are evil, however.

Dwarves -- Rare as elves, dwarves are excellent craftsmen. They are typical of other kinds of dwarves in other roleplays (short, stocky, and bearing the love of facial hair).

Human Ranches and Exspheres

Human ranches, found only in Sylvarant, are run by a group of (mostly) half-elves called Desians, in which they cultivate humans. What goes on in there is unknown, but it is believed that the humans are forced to make things called Exspheres there.

Exspheres are generally all the same colour, which is red. Nobody is in possession of any 'special' Exspheres, though some Desian leaders have stronger, special Exspheres. The exception of this, of course, are Cruxis Crystals, which are possessed by the Chosen of each world. They are more powerful than a regular Exsphere, and are handed down by Cruxis, the angels.

Exspheres tap into a person's hidden abilities. For some this is physical ability, mental ability, or a mix of the two. Get creative, but don't go overboard. Everyone has their weaknesses.

There are Exspheres in Tethe'alla, but few knew how they got there and most are being used in Magitechnology or being studied in Sybak.

Exspheres are dangerous if attatched to the skin. However, they are useless unless they are attatched directly to the skin, so those who have Exspheres utilize the dwarven technology of Key Crests, which serve as a mount. If an Exsphere has already been planted onto the skin without a Key Crest, the best thing to do is make a charm out of the Inhibitor Ore and then engrave a Key Crest on it. Inhibitor Ore is rare, but there is a mine in Tethe'alla that produces Inhibitor Ore, which is then processed and used to make Key Crests. Strangely, there is no plentiful source of Inhibitor Ore known to the majority in Sylvarant. It is possible, however, that Desians know such a source, due to the fact that a good portion Desians use Exspheres.

Profiles

PLEASE NOTE: In true game style, the characters should start off with BASIC WEAPONS. Some people can even start off with wooden swords, sticks, or whatever. It depends entirely upon your situation. Eventually you will get better weapons, elemental weapons, and more spells and such. Keep in mind that towards the beginning your character won't have as great of skills as they would later on, so please, don't make yourself overpowered in the beginning. You'll get a chance to do so later on. Good things come to those who wait. Those who rush wind up dead. twisted

Accepted Profiles

ValenarrDeMirro
Username: ValenarrDeMirro
Character Name: Daisuke (real name known only to himself and his parents) pronounced Die-skay
Gender: Male
Age: 19
Race: Human
Hometown & World: Mizuho, Tethe'alla
Appearance: Black spiky hair tops Daisuke's head, and he wears a red headband under his bangs to keep it out of his eyes, which are crimson. His clothes are mostly red and black as well, and he prefers baggy shirts and baggy pants, as well as soft-soled, red and black shoes used for sneaking and running on the tips of one's toes for maximum speed and agility.
Personality: Laid back and unusually lackadaisical for someone from his village, Daisuke generally doesn't care about much, with the exception of any noteworthy ladies around, and anyone else that is a summoner, being as that in Mizuho, the only place where summoners are found, there is but one other summoner. Daisuke is usually in a jovial mood and doesn't linger on stuff for too long unless he deems it necessary.
Class: Summoner
Weapon(s): Nunchaku and Paper Seals
Profession: Summoner and spy for the Mizuho intelligence network
Other: Daisuke has his own summon spirit, one created in Sybak's laboratories. His name is Sunatskei (Soo-nat-skay) and he is a talking white, grey and black ferret. Sunatskei is the embodiment, one could say, of mischief, which is probably why the two get along so well. Daisuke adopted Sunatskei from the Elemental Research Laboratory after Sunatskei was branded as a failed experiment. Daisuke can summon up Sunatskei whenever he wishes, but Sunatskei is hardly something to worry about unless you have something shiny on your person.

ValenarrDeMirro
Username: ValenarrDeMirro
Character Name: Arkin Dellinger
Gender: Male
Age: 31
Race: Elf
Hometown & World: Unknown, Sylvarant
Appearance: Tall and thin, Arkin wears his hair down to his back, hiding his ears. His hair gives his race away, as it is pure platinum, brighter than silver. He wears colours that seem to make it stand out, though perhaps this is not on purpose. He normally wears dark tones, preferring black but also wearing, on occasion grey or dark blue. His eyes shimmering blue and generally empty and devoid of emotion.
Personality: Detatched, factual, and a good bit of a scholar, Arkin is very capable of hiding his heritage when need be. He doesn't use his magic often, as an account of this. Quite the scholar, Arkin would jump at the opportunity to study anything of interest, and has found Exspheres to be quite interesting. Due to this, he has stolen one from a Desian, along with the Key Crest, but has not attatched it yet. He finds the Seals of Sylvarant interesting as well, and hopes to one day witness the World Regeneration.
Class: Wizard, utilizes elemental magics.
Weapon(s): Besides his magic, Arkin carries a cane, which is used as his focus for some of his spells. This can be used as a weapon (although a highly ineffectual one) in a pinch.
Profession: He was an archaeologist and scholar until he was displaced by some unknown reason.
Other: He might not be all he seems.

Quote:
Username: Shazzer
Character Name: Tetsu Kayama (Her first name is a pseudonym. According to Mizuho tradition, her real name is kept hidden.)
Gender: Female
Age: 18
Race: Human
Hometown & World: Mizuho, Tethe'alla
Appearance: Tetsu is an elegant-looking woman of average height with the typical dark hair and slanted, brown eyes of the Mizuho. She keeps her long raven locks tied up with a white bow at nearly all times, and often sports a traditional dark dress-like garment: it's slitted up to her mid-thigh on both sides and sleeveless. It has pale pink embroiderment of cherry blossoms near the collar. She ties a matching silk band tightly around her waist.
Personality: Tetsu is a very driven young woman who knows her goals and how to acheive them. She is highly competitive and hard to shake from her course once she has chosen it. Most of the time, she's very serious and secretive, but she's not shy by any means... she simply prefers to think before she speaks. If she has something important to say, she'll up and say it.
Class: Summoner
Weapon(s): Sais and Paper Seals.
Profession: She devotes almost all of her time to training, but is being recruited to the Mizuho defense.
Other: Tetsu is always competing with Daisuke, whether or not he knows it. She wants to be the best summoner of the village without question, and has recently, with much persuasion, managed to get her hands on her own Summon Spirit from Sybak. This Spirit, dubbed as Kaemon, takes on a large, serpentine form with four pairs of red, batlike wings running down the length of its spine. He is completely green and possesses scarlet eyes.

Shazzer
Username: Shazzer
Character Name: Cyrene Teramor
Gender: Female
Age: 28
Race: Elf
Hometown & World: Unknown.
Appearance: Cyrene is tall and long-limbed, with silver hair that falls to just past her shoulders in a thick mane of loose curls. It contrasts her skin, which, naturally very fair, has tanned and darkened slightly from living in the desert regions of Triet. A pair of bright, almost otherworldly blue eyes adds an exclaimation point to her face, belying knowledge and wisdom beyond her apparent years.

She usually wears a conservative hybrid of a preistess' gown and desert attire, a long, flowing white hooded robe embroidered with black and violet patterns.
Personality: Sensitive, sympathetic, and compassionate, Cyrene will never hesitate to give up her bed for a stranger if they're in need. She's generally a pacifist, but holds in her a quiet passion for the things she believes in -- namely, her religion and her charity work. She is fairly intelligent, having gone through schooling in order to refine the healing arts that she was gifted with, but she will often let her emotions overtake her logic. She is sincere and honest, but polite about it.
Class: Primarily a healer, but she has an affinity for Light magic.
Weapon(s): She uses a small, white pendant at her neck through which to focus mana. She could probably hit someone pretty hard with a frying pan or something, though.
Profession: She works and lives at a House of Salvation near Triet, as a general caretaker.
Other: She's an excellent cook, and a devout follower of the Church of Martel.

(Alrighty, here goes...)

He stretched lazily in the tree he sat in, bored, as usual, in the Gaoracchia forest. His jaws parted in a massive yawn, communicating again at how bored he was.

Resting on his shoulders, which were clad in black fabric, lay his somewhat prized weapon, his nunchaku. Black lacquered wood and a chain that had withstood a few years without rusting, the weapon was a useful tool, although most thought it was a waste of time. After all, he could summon.

But, in comparison to the other summoner of Mizuho, he had gotten, he admitted, the short end of the stick.

This was now apparent to him as the man-made Summon Spirit that he possessed was certainly not powerful, as his rival's was, and that the Summon Spirit he had, while he was good company, was certainly not all there in the head, nor was he great to have around other people.

The aforementioned Summon Spirit was displaying that quality at this very moment, hugging, while sitting on the branch before the summoner, a gold coin that was neither his nor the Summoner's.

"Where did you get that?" The summoner asked, almost boredly, and knowing the answer.

"I found it." The ferret answered in a voice that could only be described as goofy.

"Sure. Who'd you steal it from?" The summoner inquired, once again as if this was a bit of a chore.

"Nobody!" The ferret Summon Spirit defended itself, tucking the coin behind him and letting his tail coil around it.

"... Right." The summoner said after a long pause, finally giving up.

"Say, Daisuke." The ferret began, hopping up onto the summoner's shoulder and perching there. "Didn't the Chief wanna speak to you?" He dropped the coin into Daisuke's palm, and the summoner pocketed it. The ferret was at least useful for collecting money...

"Yeah." Daisuke yawned, stretching his arms and displacing the ferret somewhat, who hopped down to the branch in between Daisuke's dangling legs as the summoner leaned against the trunk.

"Then why haven't you gone to see him yet?" The ferret persisted.

"Listen, Sunatskei." Daisuke began. It got the ferret to shut up, at least. "If the dried up geezer wants to speak to me, he'll send someone to get me." Daisuke reasoned. "And besides, he probably has some fool's errand for me to run off on."

Daisuke didn't know how right he was.

A kunai landed in the tree bark, embedding itself in the trunk, near Daisuke's head, with a message tied to it. Daisuke didn't need to bother reading it. It was almost certainly from one of the Chief's agents. If it wasn't, that was okay. Daisuke didn't want to bother with anyone but the Chief at the moment anyways.

Letting out another yawn, Daisuke dropped from the tree, as did the ferret, which landed on the summoner's shoulder, clinging to it with a wide grin on its lips, as much as a ferret could muster. Ambling along easily, treading quietly and softly with his black, soft-soled shoes, Daisuke was in the village within a matter of minutes, sliding open the Chief's door and stepping within.

"Daisuke." The Chief's baritone could be heard in the small hall that led to the Chief's audience room. Daisuke sighed, expecting a lecture.

He didn't get it.

"You may enter."

Daisuke raised a black-haired eyebrow, and then went in, sitting cross-legged on a red mat in front of the Chief, who sat in a similiar pose across from him. The Chief certainly was not as old as Daisuke made him out to be. The man was obviously aging, probably in his forties, but certainly not what Daisuke had called him.

Daisuke didn't even bother asking what this was all about. He'd find out soon enough.

"I'll get to the point." The Chief said, reading Daisuke's dark crimson eyes. "We need you to accomplish something for us..." He began. "Sylvarant. You know of it, correct? If their Chosen completes the journey of regeneration, Tethe'alla, our home, will soon be laid to waste just as their world is now..."

Daisuke didn't really hold any love for Tethe'alla, but then again, he didn't want the Gaoracchia forest turning into nothing but a husk of its former self.

"So in short--" The Chief was cut off.

"You want me to kill the Chosen." Daisuke finished for him.

The Chief blinked a few times, and then closed his eyes. "Yes."

"Well." Daisuke stood. "You can forget it. If the Chosen's like ours, then I won't be able to get near him. Or her. There'll be bodyguards. Priests. And then the Chosen himself. They aren't something to sneeze at."

"Dammit, Daisuke, neither are you!" The Chief said, almost outraged. "We've given you our finest training! You and Tetsu! Neither of you deserve to be pushed aside like rubbish! You're our best! Now, either you'll do it, or Tetsu will."

"Why not both of us?" Daisuke asked.

"What if we need a summoner back at the village?" The Chief returned.

"Neither of us would be of any immediate use then, because neither of us have formed pacts with any of the Summon Spirits of Tethe'alla!" Daisuke said, exasperated.

"But we can clear the temples quickly and get the summoner to the altar!" The Chief reasoned.

Daisuke almost gave up. "But if a situation where a summoner was needed arose, there wouldn't be enough people to clear the temple quickly, or there could even be a shortage of people to do so. Think, old man!"

The Chief almost noticeably winced at this insult, and had to stop himself from inflicting bodily harm on Daisuke. He stood, to meet the youngster face-to-face.

"I've already sent for Tetsu." He said, almost unnervingly calm, though his voice had a hidden razor's edge of anger beneath it. "We'll talk about it when she arrives."

Daisuke's dark crimson eyes narrowed, and he brushed some of the stray ebony spikes of his hair aside, exposing his crimson headband a bit. With his other hand, he brushed off his black pants and his shirt a bit.

"There's nothing to talk about." Daisuke said. "If you send either of us, we risk failing. If you send both of us... well, let's just say if Mizuho gets placed in danger while we're away, it'll be nothing compared to what will happen if the Chosen of Sylvarant succeeds."
PostPosted: Mon Nov 07, 2005 6:55 pm

"Daisuke." Tetsu, who had been standing nearby long enough to get the gist of what was happening, was not a happy camper. Daisuke! What was he doing here? For once, just once, she would like to be the one with responsibility on her shoulders and hers alone; she wanted to be the hero, the best, the one-and-only. But, no. Daisuke, a year older and with just as much invested in him, was always there. His very existance made her mad at him; how he squandered away hours doing nothing, how he seemed to always be defiant, how he talked, walked, ate.. every little thing drove her up the wall, and she didn't know why.

Or, if she did, she didn't want to admit it.

"I can't believe you, Daisuke," she sighed, shaking her head disapprovingly as she walked past him.

Tetsu marched into the room and bowed respectfully at the chief, dark eyes flickering once to who she assumed would ber her partner. She said, straightening: "With all due respect, chief, if the Chosen of Sylvarant survives and completes his or her journey, Mizuho will die alongside the rest or Tethe'alla. You may choose to send both of us--"if you really, really have to, she added inwardly-- "but I will do anything you ask of me, and I will succeed."

Her reply was so forceful and earnest, it sounded like she would have been willing to take on all of Sylvarant in order to save Tethe'alla, like she would devote every fibre of her being to her mission. If something was going to be done, it had to be done right--especially an assassination.

Truthfully, though, Tetsu had only ever killed one on occasion: many soldiers in self-defense, and she was quietly sick for weeks afterwards. The notion of murdering--no, not murdering, not--someone who she had no personal grudge against almost made her queasy once more, but she showed no signs of weakness.

In the village of Oracles, far away and on a different plain of exsistance than the two Summoners, in a remote corner of the map and yet perhaps not as remote as one would think, a girl, not yet of age so to speak, laughed much like a child would and chased after a butterfly that she had especially grown fond of while seeing it rest lazily on one of the flowers in the village. Not armed with any particular net, she knew she was likely to fail and drive the poor thing off and out of the village, but her intent wasn't so much to catch it so much as it was for the simple fun of chasing it. The villagers seemed to watch her, this Kistre, as she ran on by, and simply by looking at her one wouldn't be hard put to understand why.

Clad in clothes that were slightly higher in class than the common villager, Kistre had almost been raised by the elders of the village her whole life. She knew, and took rather seriously, her role in life, and after a couple years of trying to get over the rather huge concept of it all, had grown to accept what it would all mean. If she could accomplish what it was needed of her for her people, then it would all be worth it.

Her laughter was innocent, untainted, a rare quality that she didn't know she should cherish. Her life being spent her, she was something of the village darling not only for that but for her simple mission in life. She didn't want to see the face of a few people when she would inevitably have to leave them. Leave...

Running past the temple of which the Elders stayed, she was quite surprised when she saw the eldest of them all coming towards her. Stopping abruptly in her tracks, forgetting about the butterfly, her breath stopped as well. If the eldest of elders was coming out of the temple, then something seriously important must be up.

"Kistre!"
"Yes, Elder?" She was nervous. What was going on?
"Follow me."

The lack of knowledge was even more unnerving then the Elders actual presence. She could only assume that....

Pfft. It couldn't be so soon, could it?

Following the Elder, the young woman didn't dare ask any questions. The presence of an Elder was usually enough to ensure silence equivalent to that of a tomb. The eldest of them? Well...one can imagine the sheer presence.

The Elder, clad in deep maroon robes, motioned for her to wait at the outside door of the temple, and it was only when the sound of a carriage arriving could be heard that Kistre knew her days here were over. How whimsical, she had thought to herself, that she thought she'd be able to get a chance to say goodbye to everybody. Of course they would slip her off with no special regard. It made parting easier.

Looking downwards for a moment, she tried to search within herself what it was that she was feeling at this moment. When the Elder came back and presented Kistre with a small pack of who knew what, suddenly her body seemed a lot heavier than it should have. The immense weight of how real it all was suddenly catching up to her, she just hoped, with all her heart, that she would be enough.

Bowing low to the Elder, she took the pack and felt her eyes shimmer with tears for just a moment before she turned away, walking with a certain weight on her shoulders that had never been there before, even just moments ago. Stepping into the carriage, and crying out as it immidiately took off, without her even able to peek out the window for one last look at her home, she set the package of unknown goods at her side, and cried silently for the loss of it all.

The Chief looked at Tetsu, and thought for a few moments.

"Fine, then, Tetsu. If you wish to go, you may." He concluded.

"What?!" Daisuke asked, outraged. "You can't send her alone! It's suicide! You're sending her to her death, and she's far too softhearted for this mission. What if she joins forces with the Chosen in order to save herself? What if she does so because she can't bring herself to kill the Chosen?"

The Chief looked at Daisuke. "Then the only way to make sure that doesn't happen is to go with her."

Daisuke looked over at Tetsu. Well, it wouldn't be that bad to follow her around... After all, maybe she could get over that little rivalry of hers and actually start with some actual friendship...

"Then maybe a little something more..." Daisuke thought with a grin.

But he shrugged externally. "Fine. You've backed me into a corner. I'll go with Tetsu."

The Chief nodded. "Then it is settled. Now, I want you to meet with a group that will supply you the method to break the dimensional barrier. Once you cross it, you'll have to find the Chosen on foot. They will only let you use their divice to travel the dimensions."

The Chief sat back down. "However, I cannot provide transportation to their base. You will have to go to Sybak and see if there is a way. We do know where their base is located, however. It is in the islands surrounding the Flanior region."

"Good." Daisuke said with a nod. He put his arms up behind his head. "That all?" He sounded bored. He hadn't even noticed that Sunatskei had poofed himself out of this realm for the moment... no wonder it was so quiet.

The Chief nodded. "Yes... that is all. You are both dismissed." He waved a dismissive hand.

Daisuke turned on his heel, not bothering to bow, and walked with his hands balled up behind his head, his elbows pointing out. He walked out the door (pushing it open with his foot) and continued on his path, knowing that Tetsu would shut the door behind him.

He was awaiting the earful he would probably get from her. He had been around her since she was born. He was only one year old at her time of birth, but he had known her since then, and of course knew her very well, but not well enough for his liking. She was always hiding things. Many things. Some things that were more interesting than others.

Once he was away from the Chief's house, he noted that Sunatskei had come back of his own free will. "Oh. Hey, Suna." Daisuke said boredly as the ferret appeared, walking beside him. "Hello..." The ferret Summon Spirit said with a wide smile, as always. "How'd it go?" The ferret dared to ask.

"See for yourself when Tetsu catches up. I'm sure I'll hear about it from her..."

Upon dissmissal, Tetsu bowed once more prior to leaving and stepped outside, fuming inwardly as she shut the door quietly behind her. Her almond eyes swept the area for Daisuke. She spotted him and caught up with a quickened gait, grabbing his unoccupied shoulder perhaps a little too tightly.

"Daisuke," she growled as she released him, commanding attention. "You don't think I can do this alone!? You disrespectful, lazy, imsolent-- Argh!" she ended the statement with a syllable of frustration, turning away from Daisuke suddenly and pinching the bridge of her nose between her closed eyes, as if she had a headache. "Kaemon!"

Upon mention of the creature's name, it seemed to slide out of nowhere and draped itselfaround Tetsu's shoulders like a boa: a long, thick snake with dark emerald scales and iredescent red eyes. Crimson, leathery wings were folded at along its back. When the tip of its tail was visible, it put its face towards Tetsu's, its tongue flicked out once and it said, in a deep and surprisingly clear male voice: "Yes?"

"Go ahead and tell my father to prepare lightly; I'm leaving as soon as possible." Tetsu opened her eyes and looked towards the reliable Summon Spirit, who blinked at her, looking a little concerned, and gave a silent nod before slithering off her body and onto the ground. It -- he -- darted out of sight with astounding quickness. "I trust you'll be ready very soon as well, Daisuke," she added, glancing over her shoulder.

I'll show him I can do this. Softhearted--hah.
