Wakia's blood boiled as he raced across the dunes in long giant strides as if he were hoping from one place to the next, his black form bounding towards the last location he saw the dark red female, or at least he thought he saw her. The black, red, and orange bodies mashing together forced the dark male to double take, unsure of what side people were on. What side was she on? She was the only lion he approached outside of the family, and he was concerned for her, at least enough to search her out.
"Lilo! where are you?! Umlilo!" He called thinking that he saw her and then he stopped his running and turned to look in the other direction. She was here, she had to be I saw her, his mind burned unable to focus on the last place he saw her.
"Liilo!" He shouted again his eyes watering in the mid day son.

Against the wishes of her parents (well, her father anyway) and her own better judgment, Lilo had wandered away from the safety of the den during the fight and was watching from what she assumed would be a safe distance. Something was going on, and she could hardly claim to know exactly what it was as she had not been around to know exactly what it was. She assumed she was missing something from all of this, and she was curious but of course she was very, very intent on keeping herself out of the fighting. She was small, she was young and she was considerably weaker than even those of the lions fighting that were close to her size. It'd just be foolish to get involved now.
Suddenly her ears perked up as she thought she heard a voice calling out her name, and she couldn't help but roll her eyes wondering if a family member had found her- but a look around revealed a familiar face that was not a sister or parent. No, it was Wakia!
"Wakia!" she called out, getting to her feet and watching him rushing around.

The nearly pure black slave limped across the dunes, heart pounding in her chest and her feet feeling as if they've never moved before. This fight, this war she did not completely understand was the perfect time to run, get the hell out and never come back. She did not know about the rebellion, did not know about where they stand, and didn't care too. She moved as quickly as possible with her healing wounds. Being caught by a traditionalist at that moment would have meant death, seeing as she could never fight back or at all.
She stopped in her sandy tracks and eyed the large black firekin, this was it death. She turned to move and caught sight of the other lioness as they called what Sumu assumed was one another's names.

Wakia whiped arouned at the sound of his friend's voice, she was alright, she was safe...who was the female coming towards them? She looked about their age, but she looked injured, was she a fighter? What side? He tensed and would rush forward if needed to protect his friend.
"Umlilo! Are you alright?" he called and started to walk swiftly towards her one black paw after the other, "do you know her?" He lifted his chin towards Sumu. He closed the ground quickly between them. What side are you on? That's my real question, where do your loyalities lie so that I may help you or walk away.
Teenage hormones did a number on him especially since the start of this battle, the tension pulled apart his ideas and thoughts am I loyal like my mother? Of course, but could he shun another? No..what am I going to do?

Umlilo jogged forward to meet up with Wakia that much quicker, and she couldn't help but smile a little bit- it didn't even occur to her that the only times she really smiled was when he was around.
"Looks like the story is going to have to wait, huh?" she commented, a clear indication that she was perfectly fine but nevertheless she answered more directly, "I'm fine, I'm not stupid enough to go into the middle of all of this- I don't even know what it's about, really." She blinked as he nodded over to Sumu, and she squinted.
"No," she shook her head, though she was somewhat reminded of Waka only because Sumu looked mostly black, like Lilo's sister.

The small female hearing the two talk stepped forward slowly, one of her hind legs dragging. "I'm...I'm S-" It had been a long time since she used her actual name, "Sumu." She felt it was obvious she was a slave, her scars and healing wounds were tell tale signs, but decided it was best just to say it.
"I'm a slave," she said bluntly as she walked towards them.

Wakia tensed and slipped closer to Umlilo's body as the slave approached. His mind was unaware of where to store this information, he had no mental 'file' associated with this type of encounter or interaction.
Jerkily he turned his head away from her and back to Lilo, "The story will wait, but I've got more of it and soon you will be amazed." He boasted his chest puffing out. He looked at Sumu from the corner of his eye and decided it was best to speak to her.
"Slave, escaping?" He questioned wearily, not sure if that was the 'protocol' in this situation. Turning to Lilo he whispered, "What do we do?" in her ear.

Lilo snorted a laugh at Wakia's proud puffing up at the idea of continuing his fantastic story. It was odd if you were around her more, to see her actually smiling and laughing- but Wakia was her only friend, and she was feeling a little less apathetic with all the fighting going on and this was her only real outlet. She blinked at Sumu as the foolish small lioness decided to tell them straight out that she was a slave, and when Wakia asked what they should do, she only shrugged.
"Where're you going?" she asked the slave, stepping closer and eying the poor thing with narrowed blue eyes. She looked like a Firekin in her colors, but she was small. Very small.

"I'm going away, that's all on an errand for my master and her children, perhaps you know them?" Sumu lied easily, it had been along time since the truth ever really spilled forth or any words at all, "Not escaping, no not I." Her red eyes looked between the two, he was older than the little one, but already bigger than her.
"Perhaps...no never mind it is best we don't speak, it is a secret mission," her eyes twinkled mischievously, roping them in would probably not be easy, but she needed help finding her way around, finding a place to hide."

Lilo didn't look particularly like she cared a great deal, but she was awfully amused when Sumu made it very clear that she was not escaping. Raising an eyebrow, she spoke without a second glance back to Wakia for whatever he might think of the situation.
"We never accused you of trying to escape," she pointed out smartly, then she looked back at Wakia, "Did we?"

"I said perhaps she was, but I did not accuse her, I was merely raising an eyebrow," he smiled, she made a good team with him, that's for sure, both smart, or at least he thought so. "I think that it's best you get a move on Sumu, you wouldn't want your master to catch you, would you?" He questioned, for the first time he was completely blind to the traditional ways, his had been given odd news and this made it all the worse. His brother was kept as a slave, and that did not feel right in the black furred lion's soul.
"Keep moving, you look like a firekin, don't speak of your being a slave on this mission," he looked to Lilo hoping that she would not tell anyone of his words to the slave, "I don't care if she's escaping," Wakia said to Lilo his yellow glancing between the two, "I would only care if she tried to attack someone I cared for, and you're one of those someone's."
Sumu gasped at the smartness of the two young firekin and looked between them startled as the male spoke to her, he wanted her to continue on her way, even though he knew she was trying to flee from these lands? How unlike them, perhaps they were rebels in this cause and did not side with the traditionalist king
"I will make sure to do so, thank you," she looked at the female hoping she would not make this a bigger deal, and that the red lioness would allow her to flee.

(( lol, I'd assumed the comment wasn't directly to Sumu XD Oopsies.))
Lilo flicked an ear back at the mention of how he did bring it up, but she didn't react to it- only continued to look at Sumu, never taking her blue eyes off of her. Wakia was right about one thing, Sumu looked very much like a firekin- more so, in fact, than Lilo herself (as she would later learn).
She was surprised, though, when he spoke up and pretty much gave the slave permission to go about her business. Accused or not, Lilo was almost certain that she was actually trying to escape. Her surprise was evident as she looked over to Wakia in confusion when he finished speaking, enough to get an explanation. Wrinkling her nose, she didn't know how she should react. She didn't really care whether the slave got away or not, but she knew it was almost.. expected of her not to be so lenient with them. However, Wakia mentioning he cared was almost as startling.
Her only obvious choice was to do exactly what she often did, and that was nothing. She glanced at Sumu with a slight shrug, not about to argue the point verbally or actually comment yet. She didn't see a point in saying anything yet.

The small lioness decided the snug was as much of a promise not to tell as she was going to get an she started to move on her body aching and her heart racing. This was as close as the firekin like slave was going to get to true freedom, but she would hopefully be given a chance among the new lions, the ones that invaded, she would not get far before meeting someone on the opposing side. She glanced back at the odd pair and then quickened her pace the best she could with so many wounds healing, pulling and tugging apart and back together as she moved.
Wakia watched the female go before speaking to Lilo, "I met someone today..my brother.." he whispered, "he lives among the slaves, can you believe that?!" he exclaimed his voice rising to a normal level as Sumu got out of ear shot.
"I am at a loss for words, and that is quite, rare, I say, forget this horrible fight, forget these lands, and our stupid customs." He growled angrily and startled himself, he did have a stance on the war after all, he did not like it not one bit.
"Have your parents chosen a side?" He questioned, hoping she said traditionalists, if not he would need to flee from her as not to break his promise, but why should he uphold a promise to a liar?

Lilo's blue eyes followed Sumu go, watching as she headed away- part of her wondered if the slave would actually get away from the pride or not. She wasn't much bigger than the pair of youths, and if she went around announcing she was escaping.. no, she wouldn't get far at all, it'd be funny if she did, really. If no one noticed, she deserved to get away and they deserved to lose her. She didn't even glance back as Wakia spoke, until he mentioned his brother lived among the slave.
Blinking and flicking her ears back, she looked over at him curiously. That explained his actions, maybe. She knew Wakia was much closer to his family than she was to his, certainly he was taking it with some difficulty- else he wouldn't bring it up like this.
She was even more surprised when he said traitorous things, it making very clear his opinion on the war, his brother and everything in between almost. Lilo was lost for words on this topic, though her mouth opened as if she might speak, only to close again shortly afterward. Her parents, she hadn't exactly been following along with them- she was free to form her own opinion, wasn't she?
"Mother is sided with the pride, I believe," she answered with a small shrug, "Her father is the king, so why not? Father though.. I don't know exactly about him but then, I don't stick with them longer than necessary these days." She was big enough to not need to be at home 24/7 now, so she rarely did.

Wakia did not watch the female as she left his eyes were locked on the female beside him, her blue eyes and dark red fur. She was the only friend he had, a sad truth that one day he hoped to remedy but that was that. No matter how dull she thought her color he enjoyed it, it was not the blinding reds that many firekin had, and it slightly reminded him of the orange red of his mother's pelt. Even if his growing spite towards his mother was there, still in it's infancy, he loved her, and for the most part enjoyed associating things to her.
"No matter what side they take, I..I hope that you stay safe, this whole time I've worried about you, you're my only friend, and that makes me scared. If you're with the rebellion, I don't care either."
His warm yellow eyes locked on her face he spoke, she needed to stay safe, if he had to he'd make friends with the enemy to ensure such a thing.
