Garrett practically leaps out of his chair at the breakfast table at the sound of the doorbell hitting his sensitive ears. He stuffs his toast into his mouth and dashes to the door, only to bump straight into his mother's hip. How, pray tell, does she continue to beat him?

"Speak to me!" she croons into the shoddy mic, giving her adoptive son a grin before messing up his fluffy hair.

"He'll be right down, hon!" Alaina responds, thumbing the door unlock button in case the boy didn't want to wait out on the street. She turns, her lips parted as she's about to say something, only the one she wished to talk to is now only a ball of feathers running to gather his things. Her lips spread into a smile instead.

Garrett does a mental one over on the things he has packed, making sure all the stuff he needs is in there: cookies, kiddie digital camera, his watch, and a little notepad with a pencil attached by a string. His mother, of course, made sure the night before to put in the things he REALLY needed, like a travel pillow and his toothbrush and sleeping bag, unbeknown to him, but surely to his later relief.

"Bye mum!" he calls, shutting his and Elly's bedroom door with a hasty crack. He races toward the door, his backpack banging on one shoulder because of the wild whims of his wings and the speed at which the boy is going to meet up with his friend.

"Don't do anything I wouldn't approve of!" Alaina yells in her best motherly before the apartment door shuts as fast as it opens.

Garrett begins his venture down the stairwell at record speed, an impatient grin across his face. The elevator was far too slow to respond, and he can't wait any longer to get out there and adventure! One two, one two, down the stairs he goes, breathless, but singleminded.

A magical garden?! If possible, Garrett brightens up even more, his smile broad across his newly child face.

"I got a bike," he responds with a slight nod, and he produces a bicycle lock key out of the depths of his pockets. He approaches a crimson bicycle that looks to be in decent shape and is rather on the big side for the boy, and begins to unhook it from its locked position against a rail. It wasn't actually his; he had begged and pleaded with his mum to take it, and only after he'd promised profusely to do extra chores and take reeeeally good care of it had she agreed he could take it.

He tucks the lock away and pushes the bicycle out beside Nahuel before attempting to mount it. He wobbles a little, and a wing shoots out for balance, but in his determination he gets seated on his second try. He smiles contentedly at his friend, waiting silently for instructions.

Garrett tilts his head, having made the same assessment, and decides to trust in his friend's judgment without a further thought. He wobbles a little more, but any riding uncertainty is quelled as he peddles with more concentration, and with the aid of his wings interjecting their help whenever necessary.

"How.." Garrett peddles a little harder to match Nahuel enough to be heard, "How'd you find a magic garden?"

Garrett comes to a stop in a less-than-easy way, finding that his breaks - indeed, the back-pedal ones - weren't too immediate, and instead he opts to crush his heels into the grass and stop that way instead. He manages to stop.. right before the wall, thankfully. Following his friend's lead, he pushes the bike ahead of him and ducks into the hole, his right wing scraping along the crack as a reward for its disobedience.

He lets out an impressed whistle once through, stopping to look around and take in the sight. "How'd you find this place?" he asks breathlessly, golden eyes examining as many details as they can as quickly as possible, to capture the memory properly.

Garrett taps the kickstand out with the toe of his boot and leans the bike in its natural resting position, only having to keep it from toppling over once before walking away. He also peels off a single layer, his outmost vest, and leaves it on the handlebars, then re-shoulders his backpack.

He just manages to see the last of Nahuel ducking into.. or under.. the tree.

Completely baffled, Garrett stops in his tracks and tilts his head. Uhm..? Well, his friend had said it was magic just moments ago, but really, he thought he'd meant the make-believe kind. A smile finally forms on his lips, and he bolts forward toward the tree, following Nah's lead. This is MUCH better than the make-believe kind of magic!

Garrett has never been so speechless in his life.

And although that doesn't say much, because the boy likes to observe rather than to speak his mind, his gape-mouthed expression and slow pace prove his absolute wonder with this place, something that has since worn off of his friend, having been here before.

Now inside this cavern, dragging a hand lightly across the wall, Garrett barely moves, besides turning his upper body to look every which way. His feet are determined to stay planted, and, especially now with the lack of open air, his wings become antsy.
