Jiona had never felt this way before. There were so many emotions coursing through her, she couldn't pick just one to feel. Love. Sadness. Loneliness. Happiness. They all mixed together as she watched the five cubs sleeping in the small den she had found. She knew they were Djakovo's babies, there was no doubt about it. Once she had seen Kisuri there had been no doubt left in her mind. She didn't know what to tell them about their father, perhaps she could make up some story that turned him into a great hero? But she didn't want to lie to them, either. She sighed and just hoped they wouldn't ask for a while.

Jahazi had been dreaming, and his golden eyes opened to see his mother standing over him and his siblings. He smiled up at her warmly. "Good morning, momma." He said as he untnagled himself from the others, trotting over to her and rubbing against her legs.
Suddenly a grin broke out across his face; this was the day momma was gonna take them outside! He strted pouncing on his siblings, yelling to make them wake up. Jiona laughed softly, glancing outside. A perfect day. The breeze was cool, the sun warm, hardly a cloud in the sky.

Rolling over, Kisuri had also awaken from her slumber, and peered her eyes wide open as she looked at her brother. "Morning mommy, Jahazi." She smiled happily, and then got up and came over to her brother's side. Purring lightly, she was very content at the moment. It wouldn't be long before everyone was awake, and the silence would cease.
"What are we going to do today?" She beamed up at mother with a grin.

Mapinduzi's sleeping form rested silently beside Kisuri. He wasn't dreaming, he wasn't snoring. He wasn't doing so much as breathe. As his sister awoke, his brow furrowed lightly in his half sleep. "Hush, Kisuri..." He mumbled, only barely listening or paying attention. "It's early."
Yet when the black cub left her spot, he did nothing but simply lay there and fall silent again, and it was difficult to tell whether he had drifted off to sleep again or was in fact listening to every word they said.
Though the speckled cub could easily pick up his pace wherever and whenever he so wanted, he had an innate ability to simply be able to sit or crouch without moving a muscle for the longest time. It seemed that though he had the attention span of any average cub, he could pay far more than that little bit of attention to his own imagination. It was a rather common sight to see him simply sitting somewhere, staring off into space. Nobody ever really knew what he thought or where he went in his mind when he did this. He had never found the need to tell anybody, and should anyone ask, he would simply pull a little half-smile, shockingly like his father's, and shrug.

Jahazi's paw crushed into her face. "Ugh..." She didn't wish to wake but something, excitement maybe, bubbled inside her causing her to blink her eyes and shake her dusty pelt out. "Oh momma! I had a dream!" Nadanjia grinned, wiggling her little ears and swaying her tail. "But I forgot what it was." She pulled out from the warmth of the rest of the litter and pawed to her mother, purring softly. Nadanjia was excited to be able to see the outside world for the first time, she was so excited she began to shake. "Remember Kisuri! Momma promised to show us outside!" Nadanjia grinned and rolled onto her back, scratching an itch.

Uvumilivu began to hear the voices of his siblings and mother, which caused him to reluctantly pull himself from his slumber. The young cub was a firm believer in the idea of sleeping until you woke up on your own. He let out a groan, and looked around in semi-conscious daze. With a hint of bitterness in his voice he greeted his family, "Good morning to you all, too." Now that he was fully awake, and not happy about being up this early he examined the area. "Well, if we're up this early, then there must be some special occaison? If there's not I'm going to go back to sleep, and you better hope I can fall asleep, or else I'm not going to be in a very good mood." He looked to his mother, or one of his siblings for a response.

Jiona laughed heartily as her children woke. All do different. She watched them with a loving gaze for a few moments, before standing up and giving each a lick on the head. "We're going outside today, remember?" She said, looking at each adorable face in turn.
Her voice grew a little more stern as she spoke again, "But you must stay beside me. Don't run off too far." Her smile, which was normally always on her face, was replaced by a firm frown. "Make sure you don't wander." She repeated.
Jahazi grinned at his siblings, pouncing upon Nadanjia when she rolled onto her back. He perked up and listened to his mother when she spoke though, and nodded enthusiastically at her, rolling off his sister.
He darted to the mouth of the den, tail twitching in excitement. He had grown a tick in his small amount of time in the world, and his left eye sometimes blinked rapidly of it's own accord. His tail did the same, and the skin on his shoulder blade did as well. His tail was the worst though, it was almost always moving uncontrollably.
Jiona smiled at Jahazi, walking over to the den entrance as well. "Now, wait here." She said to her babies firmly, and Jahazi sat obediantly. Jiona walked outside, scanning the savannah briefly. She made sure there was nothing to threaten her children, then she turned to them with a grin. "Come on out."

Nadanjia wheezed as Jahazi jumped onto her open belly. She tried to push her paws back into his chest, but he had rolled off and was tailing behind mother. Nadanjia smiled, shaking the dust off her pelt. She didn't like the feeling of the little rocks and dry dust in her fur, it made her scratchy and somewhat irritable. "I won't wander!" Nodding softly she rolled around on the ground before leaping on to her paws, and shaking herself again. She bounded forward, ahead of her mother's paws to the mouth of the den awaiting her mother's nudge to proceed forward.

The speckled cub lay there a moment more. The only thing giving his conciousness away was the subtle movement of his ears as they followed the sounds of his siblings, as one by one they woke and left their spot in the den.
Going outside? What did it really matter. As far as Duzi was concerned, the inside of this den was all that mattered in the world. But still, rather than spoil the joyous mood of the occasion, the dark cub blinked open his piercing amber eyes. He rose, almost lethargically, and ducked into a stretch, as he watched his siblings crowd around their mother at the den entrance.
"What's so good about the outside," He muttered to himself as he padded across to join them. From what he had seen in the past days, of the sun slanting into the den, the only difference between out there and in here, was that there was light and a lot more space. But space was not something that Duzi felt he especially needed.

Uvumilivu groaned as he watched his siblings walk out of the den with their mother. He was so comfortable sleeping in the den, that he really didn't want to go anywhere. "Please, can I just stay here? I'm sure there's nothing exciting going on, so I won't miss anything. I promise I won't go anywhere if you do let me stay here alone." Ivu knew his pleading was useless, and he would end up going with his mother either way, but he couldn't help but to try to get out of it. In truth, Ivu was more afraid of change than anything. He had lived out his short life in this den, and he didn't want things to change. He didn't want his brothers and sisters to love the outside more than the inside. Even if he didn't show it, he still wanted his siblings around. He sighed, and stood up and reluctantly began walking to the entry of the den.

Duzi blinked. Well that was just not fair. Why should the rest of them have to go outside while Ivu got to stay where he was and sleep? He shouldn't, Duzi concluded.
He plastered a smile onto his face. Oh, how painfully obvious it was that he was trying hard to seem happy. It wasn't something the little cub did well, seem carefree and joyful. But at least, he mused, he was giving it a shot. It was better than nothing.
"You don't want to miss seeing the wonders of the outside world for the first time. How are you going to feel when we all come back in and chatter about what we saw and all you can do is sit here and feel sorry you didn't come with us?" If Duzi was going down, he was taking everyone else with him, and that was that.

"Now now, you two," Jiona said to the boys, "Both of you are coming. So let's go." She spoke sternly, but then a soft smile crossed her face. "You'll love it. It's wonderful and exciting." She said with a nod, turning and walking outside after the other cubs.
Jahazi had bounded into the open savannah, his eyes wide and his smile bright. He was excited and his twitching had never been so bad before. His tail was a blurry motion of flickering, and his eye was uncontrollably moving at rapid speeds. He didn't care or even notice really, and he looked up at his mother with a twitchy grin. "Momma! It's so bright and big!" He cried, looking around in awe.
Jiona smiled at her son, her concern for his twitching well hidden. She hoped it wouldn't be too much of a hinderance for the small leopon.
Turning to the other children she smiled brightly, "Come on! It's a beautiful day! I'll take you to the water hole." She said, referring to a small pond not far from their den.

"Well, you two can stay in here if you don't wanna see outside so bad." Nadanjia huffed, lifted her chin and bounded through her mother's paws in to the new world. The new world was wickedly bright, but as her eyes adjusted to the light she saw colors she had never seen before. She saw her own color to. A dark, dark charcoal gray, and black spots. Danjia admired her spots, awing over them. And then her interests took else where as she bit at the swaying grass. She pounced on it. It stopped moving underneath her, so she waddled off it and looked for something else that moved. "What's water?" Danjia had heard of water. "And what's this?" She pawed at the grass. she has so many questions fluttering in her mind, coming and going like the breeze. She couldn't stop thinking of things to question. "Why are we here?" She blinked and looked at her mother.

Fully awake, and not able to go back to sleep Ivu figured he might as well go out just make sure he didn't miss anything. He followed out after Nadanjia, and took a look around. "Hmmph. It's kinda big out here, but I like it." Annoyed with his sister's persistent questions, he rolled his eyes and wandered towards his brothers. It was somewhat interesting outside, but it wasn't as fascinating or pleasing as a nap sounded right now. "So. What is this water hole you speak of?" Ivu was already somewhat bored with the hype surrounding their first journey outside. He appreciated going outside, but being with his other siblings took away from the grandeur of it all.
The tall grass sparked some curiosity in the grouchy cub, and he started wandering a little bit away from the rest of his family. It was so open, and it felt like he could walk forever. He wanted to go as far as his little legs would take him. The thought of being alone fascinated the little brown cub. Sure he loved his siblings, but it felt so nice to have his own air to breathe. Independence was something he had never felt before, always being around his other siblings, and his mother had provided for them.

Water hole? Duzi considered it for a moment. Well that didn't sound too bad. He had absolutely no idea what in the world a water hole was - he could only assume it was a hole made of water, or a hole with water, or something along those lines - but it sounded like it would be worth taking the venture out.
In reality, the speckled cub was actually more than excited to be headed out into the world for the first time. But he had his reservations about anything that he didn't yet know. And he just did not see how it was important that the whole world knew how he felt. So he kept it inside and felt content to simply pad up behind the rest of his siblings and his mother.
Then he was out.
It was too bright. It was too windy. It was too loud. It was too big.
He shut his eyes against the bright glare of the sun. Was this what he'd been forced to come out to see? Well it was horrible!
Slowly he opened his eyes, turning them away from the shining sun. He blinked, taking stock of his surroundings. Okay, it wasn't as bad as he had thought it was.

Jiona looked down at the children, smiling at her daughters many questions. "Water is what we drink to survive." he said, calmly answering the black cubs inquiries. "That is grass. The hooved animals eat it, and we eat them." The last question was more complicated, and Jiona wasn't sure how to answer it at first. "We're here... to live our lives, until the Gods decide it is our time to join them in eternal life." She hoped her answer was vague yet clear enough to get off the topic, and she herded the children towards the watering hole. "This way, kids. Stay near me."
Jahazi looked at his brothers as they made their way through the long grass. He loved the feeling of it on his paws, so smooth and cool. He even enjoyed how bright the sun was, how it warmed his white pelt quickly. He got his first good look at his siblings, and was in awe at how different they were, each so unique in their patterns. He briefly wondered who decided what creatures looked like, was it fate or did a higher being sit down and decide every detail? How patient that creature must be if one existed.
Jahazi bounded through the grass to his mothers side, a little nervous of being too far from her. His quick thinking mind pushed away his moment of philsophical thoughts, replacing them with thoughts of this mysterios water hole that got everyone so excited. As he thought of what it might be like, his tail and eye started twitching worse than ever.
