Oh man. I have it reserved. It comes out on the eighth here. <__<

Sad thing is that I can't get my hands on a Wii. Everyone is sold out. xD So I'll have a wonderful game but nothing to play it on.
PostPosted: Wed Mar 05, 2008 12:56 pm

I could get it yeah. But someone else will probably get it first so I'll just play it with them.

if it were to come out onto the ps2, I might get it. But the chances of that happening aren't even to be dreamed of because that dream would be in vein!

My brother will be getting the game, but I am not expecting much. Best Smash Bro's was the first one, and the second one was at least decent, but not only is the wii system inferior to the gamecube, but it also has that annoying wireless lag...a lot of it.

And when I say the wii system is inferior I am talking about the hardware capabilities...not the 'innovation' that wii fans love so much, so don't try to tell me about it. lol

The first one was the best? Sorry, but I own the first and went back and played it and I just couldn't do it for more than an hour. Melee was a HUGE improvement over the first and I'm hoping Brawl will do the same with melee.

What about the gamecube is superior to the wii. wii graphics are better. wii controls are better (cept when it comes to smash, I'll be using the gamecube pad for that). wii games are better (mario galaxy vs mario sunshine? cmon, no contest.) the internet play, for the most part, is lag free.

Brawl will be simply awesome those who don't think so are either just jealous or simply mad. Check out IGN's review of Brawl, they'll be more than happy to disagree with you.

I say the first is the best cause in my opinion it requires more skill and less button mashing. Being competitive I prefer to win with skill, and not by chance of who is pressing what button the fastest. Even when I do play melee I find I enjoy the slower characters more because you need to use timing a lot more in your fighting.

Let me repeat: "And when I say the wii system is inferior I am talking about the hardware capabilities." In other words...the gamecube has better hardware. The Wii is the first of nintendo's game systems to make a profit in quite some time. The reason for this is that they put crap hardware in it. What they have done with that hardware is nothing short of amazing, but that does not change the fact that the hardware is crap.

When I said 'wireless lag' I was not talking about the internet. I was talking about that small amount of lag you get when using the wii-mote. Very annoying imo.

As for IGN's review? I could honestly care less. Their opinion isn't going to make me enjoy the game more.

*sigh* oh Krego.

if anything, melee is a game that caters to the hardcore. melee features very advanced techniques such as side and roll dodges, parrys, wall jumping, and quick recovery. the first had none of this and was, in fact, basically a slower version of melee without all the advanced techniques and moves.

The only thing the first had that the second did not was slower gameplay. why wasn't the first game used in official tournaments while melee was? because melee takes more skill. sorry, but to the rest of the world, slower takes less skill.

and what about the wii has inferior hardware?! hardware means graphics, processing power, and cooling systems. In all three of these areas the wii is superior. Not as much as, say, PS3, but it's still better than the cubes.

The reason they're making a profit off of a system superior to the cube is because technology advances and things become cheaper to make over time.

The second game was probably used in official tournaments because those were becoming much more common at the time. And more moves does not mean more skill is involved. Faster game play is the cause of much of the button mashing I mentioned. There is skill involved obviously, but it didn't have the same effect as in the first game. People probably felt that they were better at the game for this very reason, which is probably why they liked it more. Not a very good reason imo. And seriously? Hardcore? I would not say that any of the supersmash bro.'s games catered to the hardcore gamer.

I was incorrect that the hardware in the wii was worse than that in the gamecube. The RAM is about the same, but the CPU power in the wii is about twice that of the gamecube. However, this doesn't mean the wii is not complete crap. It only has 64MB of RAM, and the CPU power is a ridiculous 729 MHz. It's really pretty amazing that Nintendo products even run. In some cases it doesn't really run. They take a great pc game and tear it apart just so the wii can run it. This is why I am not expecting much from the games coming out on the wii. While other game systems keep getting better, Nintendo hardly even changes. The only thing they can claim now is 'innovation', and that can only last so long.

It looks fun, wish I have an a wii so I can get it. A character I would like to use is Ike(since Marth and Roy are gone). Still don't know why they couldn't have 3 fire emblem swordsmen though. sad
