Because I saw a connection.

When Bruce kneels on the road praying and he gets run over, he appears in this blank white space. So does Harry, when Voldemort "kills" him.

Weird, huh?

Does that mean... Harry is filling in for God?

Maybe he is Officer Charlie Baileygates and Hank Evans and he is in all actuality in love with Irene.

Because my mother was a dictionary, I am genetically destined to say this. Forgive me if it is not amusing or sociable.

The reference to a 'white light' in a place of divinity or beyond death is a very broad one which stretches across many cultures. Especially relevant is the 'white light' people are said to see when they have near-death experiences (although, fascinatingly others have reported other things. One man woke up during surgery screaming, "Don't let me die, don't let me die," reporting a feeling of agonizing sadness, loneliness and despair in his near-death account. A child reporting going through a 'giant noodle, but I don't think it was a noodle, because noodles don't have rainbows in them.') However, most people see the light.

The light is heavily associated with divinity, god, and purity. Supposedly it has a number of functions, although it depends on which tradition you're asking.

Some say it's the path to heaven, and that this is a healing light, one which smooths over the wounds our soul takes in its trek on earth. We can see that this isn't the case for Voldy, as the remnant of his soul is still very sick. It might be said that that version of the light is a blankness of purity, suitable for receiving souls comfortingly and without too much stimulation, as dying was probably exciting enough.

Others say that the light is representative of the god-conciousness of which we are all a part. (Light is, after all, the means by which we see, so some attribute it to awareness of any kind.) Bruce's experience would reflect this, as his journey into the light is part of his communication with god (if my memory serves me.)

So yes, they are connected - the ideas come from the same source.

Stop making sense, Selete! Obviously, God and Dumbledore are homeboys, so when Dumbledore died and didn't have a crib to hang in, God stepped up to the plate and let him live at his place! That's why Bruce and Harry both go to the same place to visit their respective Old Guy Mentors. ;3

No, I think that Dumbledore was filling in for God. Harry was Bruce.

Hee hee I'm actually watching the movie right now.

But yeah That's funny.

And the thing that Selete said is right. It's one of those universal things. White light is associated with the gateway to heaven. People who have near-death experiences often talk about being trapped in a white place filled with blinding light. When they come back, they generally say that they were pulled from this place by the voices of those around them asking them to return. It's pretty much limbo.

Or maybe it's just a padded white room. XD
