Ah, back at the mansion so soon! It had not originally been Max's intent to bring little Brisby back to the mansion after such a short time, but after his last visit and meeting Miss Mignon it had got the former adventurer to thinking. She had said that there was almost always a Sin'aeis hanging around the mansion. yes, Max had gotten all his questions answered, but he had decided maybe it would be good to attempt to get Brisby a friend of his age and, er, species. He didn't know many people with families, and those he knew had children significantly older than Brisby. Yes, finding a friend of age with the pandababy would be good.

And so the return to the mansion. Max did not hesitate to enter this time, though naturally he made sure to leave the stroller by the door and carry the baby in. This was someone else's house, after all, and it would do no good to be rude about visiting.

Brisby, meanwhile, slept soundly as he was carted around by his adoptive father. The little baby had put up a huge fuss earlier at the notion of going outside in full baby clothes, and so he was happily snuggled up within one of Max's oversized old shirts. One of the excessively long sleeves seemed caught in his mouth, the damp fabric indicating that he'd been chewing/drooling on it for some while.

"Hm," Max said idly to Brisby as he moved further into the house. "I wonder if we'll run into anyone today..."

Deet on the other hand had been their since much earlier in the day. He wasn't sure who he was looking for other than some guy named Choco or Chuck or some thing. This place...Was freakin' enormous.

The young snake baby was also asleep, resting on his father's shoulder, the ear of his abused stuff rat in his mouth as he dreamed of a combination of Mignon and nonsensical baby stuff.

The large cat man turned around, greeted with the sight of a man in a similar situation. Well, at least I'm not the only person in the lobby any more... Deet said, pleasantly giving a small wave with his free hand to the stranger.

Max drew up short as he saw another man with a baby. Ah! It seemed today was to be Brisby's lucky day, after all. He offered a polite smile, barely taking in a second glance at the other's feline features. max was fast becoming adjusted to the wide breadth of races found within the Gaian community. Which was probably a good thing, really.

"'ello," Max greeted, really unsure of what to say beyond that. Hm. "Is that one yours?"

lame, yes, but at least it'd get things going. Right?

"Um...Yeah. He's a Sin Ace." Deet said, the large cat man still not able to pronounce it properly, "I was told by this white-dragon kid to come here but it seems kind of...empty. Or some thing." he explained, noticing the little green-haired creature on his shoulder begin to stir.

It took Nihilo a while to wake up finally, and he woke up very much like this father: in a complete and utter stupor. He blinked, looking at his dad, then the ceiling, then the well decorated walls. Nope, this certaintly wasn't home. Deet braced for impact: Baby in unfamiliar location! Screams to be had! Tears to be shed!

"...Baaaahhh!" the infant said cheerfully. He liked this place.

"...Well that was unexpected. So, um, my name's Deet. This little guy is Nihilo and um...Oh, I see you got one, too." Deet said, finally noticing. Never the brightest one.

...Stare. A what? Oh! "A Sin'aeis?" Max offered helpfully, remembering the term Mignon had used. It was something like that. Thank goodness she'd given him such good information! "Um, when I came last I was told that they tend to just hang around." A shrug. "Apparently this is more like a community gathering place for the Sin'aeis..."

He trailed off as the little green-haired babything that was with the other man awoke and let out a happy noise. It was a happy noise, right? "I'm Max, and this here is Brisby."

As if summoned by his name, Brisby's bright green eyes fluttered open, one tiny hand reaching up to wipe away the sleep from them. "Mmph," he half-heartedly muttered, chewing on the soaking sleeve.

Nihilo curiously looked down. The last toddler he met had screamed a lot, and was thus deemed awesome, but this one seemed to be a little less social. Oh well, he sure looked fun with such cool markings. "Pah pah pah pah pah!" shouted Nihilo, reaching out to Brisby.

"Nice to meet you, Max. So, you know what these Sin'Aeis things are then? I mean, I know Nihilo is one, and I've met a few that were about teenagers, but I'm not sure...Plus, I was wondering how they could leave babies on porch-steps unattended like that!" Deet said, that last question sounding like a genuine concern.

"Mmm?" at the foreign voices and noises, Brisby's eyes gazed around curiously. "Beh?" What was that? As he saw a hand reach out from the corner of his vision, Brisby let out a surprised squeak and buried his face in the safety of his daddy's chest. Eek!

"I know a little, but not too much," Max admitted. "I'm pretty new at this myself." How'd Mignon's story go again? "From what I heard, the Sin'aeis are along the lines of... souls bound to food. And they're from some place called the Old Kingdom, but they moved here. Don't know why." Max shook his head. "I don't know much of the details on it, to be honest..."

He nodded gravely at the concern on leaving the babies on door steps. "I agree. it doesn't seem very respon- Brisby!" he broke off with a surprised laugh. "There's no need to be shy."

"Eeh!"

Nihilo looked depressed. Actually, he looked down-right on the verge of tears. Why didn't the other kid want to meet him? He reached out again, though the other kid was painfully out of reach. "Baaah baaah baahh baaah!" Nihilo said, each time getting a little louder. He wanted to meet this kid, darnit!

"Heh heh, you're lucky. Nihilo wants to meet every one, even people who don't want to meet him." Deet said, patting the scaley kid on his head.

Max grinned sheepishly as Brisby began wailing into his shirt. "Sorry. He's probably a bit tired still. He's usually not so shy." Glancing down, he adjusted Brisby. "Come on, Brisby. Say hello to Nihilo."

Brisby continued to cry as he found himself being shifted from his safe spot, only to abruptly stop as he caught sight of... something new and colorful! Sniffing, Brisby batted away at the tears, wanting to get a good look at the colorful little thing in front of him.

"There we go. See? That's Nihilo. And that's Deet."

"Hey there, little guy." Deet said as nice as he could to the little infant. His daunting size was some what intimidating, but his jolly nature tended to over-ride that fact.

Nihilo instantly cheered up at Brisby's change in mood. "Bah baaaahh~!"

"Eee!" Oh, it made noise too! How fun! This was definitely better now that he could see proper. The hand out of the corner of his eye had been scary! "Ubweh?" Open mouth, insert soggy sleeve. Two noisy things? Hmmm.

Max brightened at Brisby's change in mood. "See, they're not scary. No need to work yourself in a lather over nothing."

Deet couldn't help but chuckle at the two baby's "conversation" of baby babble. Deet honestly did like being a father, even if his kid was the embodiment of food it seemed. Though honestly, snake? Who in their right mind would eat snake?

Nihilo was now struggling against his father's grip. "...Well, the floor's clean 'nuff." Deet mumbled, putting the kid on the floor and watching him crawl over to Max's leg, staring up at Brisby.

Max grinned and bent down to both pat Nihilo on the head as a friendly gesture, and to deposit Brisby on the ground with him. Why not let the two play? It'd be good for them.

Brisby let out a small squeak of surprise as he found himself out of his daddy's protection and with the little colorful other-thing. However, curiosity got the better of him and he shuffled over to the other, reaching out to grab at the hair. So BRIGHT!

"Heh heh, they sure are cute..." Deet chuckled to himself, crossing his arms while holding the drool-covered rat plush. It was a cute scene, since this was the first time Nihilo had met any one in his own age-group.

"Bah bah bah~" Nihilo said happily, reaching out to Brisby. Six fingers and a monochrome color: the snake boy had to be interested.

Brisby's hand jerked back in surprise as Nihilo reached out, but he soon reached out again, one hand lightly brushing the other's wrist. Ooh, he felt funny and scratchy. But he still wanted to touch that bright green hair!

"Be careful, Brisby," Max warned, more out of habit than anything. He didn't want Brisby tugging too hard at Nihilo and starting a fight. He doubted the little panda would do it anyways, but better safe than sorry.
