Cordelia looked around the hollow that she liked to call home. She'd spent most of the late afternoon cleaning and was finally happy with everything. There was fresh bedding and the food stores had been straightened. The kylandrei had been living on her own for so long that she tended to just leave things where she dropped them. Tonight though, tonight she was expecting company and wanted to make a good impression. As a last touch to her preparations she pulled out a soft brown blanket she'd found and placed it in the center of her living space. The hollow was very small compared to the cave she'd lead Kitsuke to but it was big enough for two if one didn't mind being close. "Well there's always the option of outside. It might be chilly but at least its clear today," she commented as she placed a selection of dried fruit and nuts in neat piles at the center of the blanket. Taking a step back she studied the arrangement, "Ok that looks good. This way if he arrives while I'm gone he'll know I'm expecting him. Now to find some meat for the table..." she said and left at her normal brisk trot.

Kit headed towards Cordi's cave, a bounce in his steps. In his mouth he had a good sized piece of honeycomb, a rare find this time of year. He'd found it purely by chance while exploring a little around his new home. It had been a lot of work to get it, but it was worth it to be bringing such a treat to their dinner. When he got to the right area, Cordi's cave was not hard to find. He set the comb down on his paws, so as not to get it dirty, and called out: "Hello? Anyone home?" He didn't want to intrude in her cave without invitation. When he got no response, he peeked inside. No Cordi, but a blanket was laid out with some food on it, so he knew he had the right place. He sat outside the cave to wait for her return.

Cordi was disappointed in her hunting but rather than return empty handed she stopped by one of the nearby streams. A bit colder and wetter than she liked, Cordi trotted back to her place carrying a large trout. It wasn't much but she did have plenty in stores to add to the meal. Considering how long it had taken her, she wasn't surprised to see Kit had already arrived. Considering how had she had worked to make things nice she was a little annoyed about the condition she was in after fishing, but well that was life. She smiled around her catch as she approached. With a bit of work with her paws she made a small kind of snow table and placed the fish on it. "I do hope you like fish," she said with a laugh.

He grinned, extending her table and setting down his own offering. Licking the honey from his mouth and chin, he turned his grin on her. "Love it. Hope you like honey." She was wet, and he thought she just might be shivering a little. Drips of water fell from the tips of her quills. As far as he was concerned, she couldn't be more beautiful. "Would you like to move inside? It'll be a little warmer, no wind at least. And you won't be standing in snow." He didn't want her to get sick or anything.

Cordi's eyes went wide at his gift. She trembled trying to resist the urge to help him lick away some of the drippings around his mouth. "I havn't had any honey in a long time, thank you." The cold was starting to chill her through the damp fur so the idea of being inside was welcome. "Yes inside would be good. It is a little small; I hope you don't mind slightly close quarters?" she grinned. "Go ahead in, I'll just be moment; I think I need a good shake before joining you."

Mind? Mind was certainly not the word to describe what he felt at the prospect of having an excuse to be close to her. The closer the better, as long as she was comfortable with it. He saw her reaction to the honeycomb, though he was oblivious to her reaction concerning him, and chuckled to himself. He was very glad to have found this out-of-season treasure, it was well worth all the work of getting it. "I shall await your convenience within. I don't think I need a shower just now." He laughed as he entered the small cave.

Cordi smiled as he went inside. Before making herself presentable she ducked in and placed the fish on the blanket "table." That taken care of she stepped away and scrubbed at her paws legs and chest with fresh snow washing up a bit before giving herself a thorough shake droplets of water flying off her. It was more being clean than that little bit more dry that made her feel much better as she stepped into her little home. "A little late to play proper hostess perhaps, but Kitsuke I welcome you to my home," she said grinning as she lay down to one side of the blanket.

Kit smiled, seeing that Cordi had done a bit more than just shake the water off. Little droplets still clung to her, making her glitter in the light from the cave mouth. "I thank you for the invitation, both to share this meal with you and into your home." He stayed laying on his side of the blanket. The cave was a bit on the small side for two Kylan at the same time, but he did not mind. It meant he could be closer to her than he might otherwise manage without having to worry she would think him too forward. The honeycomb he left outside, for he did not want to get her blanket all sticky.

"Well if you find the area to your liking perhaps this can be a regular thing," Cordi replied, brushing his forepaw with hers as she reached forward to chose a piece of fruit to begin her meal. "Though maybe next time can be at your place?" She delicately nibbled at the apple, looking at Kit with a playful gleam in her eyes.

Licking a bit of honey from his muzzle, he smiled. "That would please me greatly. Perhaps a bit of a "thank you" dinner, no?" He curled up on the blanket and began nibbling on a small fish.

"Any time you'd like to invite me over. You know where to find me," Cordi replied with a grin. She was finally growing more comfortable the space was quite warm with the two of them there. "This must seem so small compared to your new home, but there's some advatages. I would never have been able to warm up so quickly in that big cave." Of course it was more than just physical warmth, there was the warm of companionship. She finished her apple and selected a selection of nuts and claimed her own fish.
She was content to daintily nibble her meal in companionable silence, not quite sure what to talk about.

Kit licked the last fish bone clean and snacked on some tart early berries. "Small is not bad." Not bad at all, he thought to himself. "As you said, it is easier to warm. And it's pleasantly homey." He smiled. The warmth, full belly, and excellent company were all conspiring to make him pleasantly tired.

"Still there is something to be said of all that space," she replied. "Just curious how did you manage to find that honey at this time of year?"

"Ah, ah, ah. I can't tell you all of my secrets, now, can I?" He grinned, enjoying teasing her. "And indeed, size does have its advantages." he agreed. Such as space for a mate and kits, he tought to himself optimistically.

"Well with all my effort to put this together for you I thought you could at least share the story of your contribution," she said with a pout, quickly followed by laughter. She reached one forepaw out to touch his. "If you need any help with getting that big place comfortable and together just let me know." She liked the idea of helping Kit set up a home of that cave, a home perhaps someday he'd choose to share. A twinkle in her eye betrayed some of the other feelings behind the offer as she smiled at him.
