Okay, I'm having trouble deciding what guitar to get. I've been playing for 9 months and I just kinda want a new one (again....) I play hard rock and metal, but I'm trying my hand at other styles like blues and soft rock.
My decision comes down to this, either a Dean Razorback DB or a Peavey Vortex.
I realize these are both Metal orientated guitars, but right now that's what I'm looking for, as I already have a pretty good guitar for other genres. If you don't think either of these guitars are good, post what you think would suit my playing.

if you are gonna play blues or soft rock with it, I would recommend something with single coils. something closer to like a strat.

SethonC Dean, of course! The quality of all Dean's is just purely amazing. I never understood this. I have played several deans at GC and ones that have been owned by fellow muscians. I never understood what other than the shape makes them so amazeing. Personaly I find the shape to bulky.

I'd go with Dean. It's a little more flexible then a Peavy, and has a much more reliable history. Plus, can't go wrong with something Dimebag plays/designed/endorsed?

Actually Dean has closed for a long time durring the 90's While Peavy has never closed. Also Dime Had literaly just gotten back with Dean after being with Washburn for almost 5 years. He designed one guitar for himself (based on the classic design of his blue lightning guitar but with a flame design, all his other guitars were Washburn) and one for Zakk. The Pointy ones are based off of the one made for Zakk. All these other modles with his name have actually nothing to do with him they are just a marketing ploy.

it seems a little too soon to get a new guitar... and the quality of dean and the other are not great....maybe save your money for the real good gutars, fenders or gibsons and but EMG's for your epi maybe, if you like the feel. if not, an epi G400 with emgs could work for metal...
but i wouldnt get either of the two choices

At 9 months you should be more concerned with your technique and ability to play period. Best guitar in the world won't make you a better player. But between those two Dean.

Don't even buy a new guitar.
Stick with your Jackson Dinky.
I don't really like Dean Guitars all that much, I like Peaveys, but come on. What could you possibly need a new guitar for if you've got a les paul (doesn't even matter if it's epiphone, it's a les paul) a dinky, and your washburn.
Just stick with the guitars you have now, and if you don't like something about one of them, go get it changed. don't go out and buy a whole new guitar.

i wouldn't get either. but if those two are the ONLY ones youll get, dont go with the dean simply because they look ugly and you look dumb if you play anything but metal with them.
as others have said, you'll probably enjoy spending your money to upgrade one of the guitars you already have much better....
after all you cant play them all at the same time, so it makes a LOT more sense to just go for quality over quantity.
I have 3 guitars: my starter electric, my good electric, my decent acoustic. needless to say, the starter was what my parents bought to see if i wanted to play and the good electric and decent acoustic were the cheapest ones i could find that had everything i wanted in them (locking tuners, good pups, solid top, etc) and I didn't pick anything fancy, but its definetly better than having a bunch of starters or guitars that are only one or two steps up from starter.

Have a look at a Musicman Silhoutte or Axis. There is some incredible build quality to these guitars and you will never have issues with customer service. Every single guitar that comes off of their production line is hand inspected, set up and guaranteed that when you get it, it's going to sound awesome.
I ordered myself a JP6 guitar from these cats and when it showed up, I went up to the store, opened the shipping box myself to find the guitar IN TUNE when I played it. It was set up PERFECTLY and I couldn't believe it. All the way from California to Atlantic Canada and still in tune.
The website is www.ernieball.com/mmonline
and if you fancy, check out the MM forum: http://www.ernieball.com/forums/music-man-guitars/
