Piercing eyes stared out from the mouth of a cave, watching the snowfall with faint interest. Winter was a bit cold for her tastes. It was the brisk but not frozen autumn that she preferred. Still, it wasn't so bad. And the more she watched, the more captivated she became. The heavy flakes from the sky were much like falling leaves from the trees. The landscape was reminiscent of autumn, merely because the snow covered the ground much like rotting leaves would. The pure blanket was completely undisturbed as far as she could see, even though her sensitive ears could hear smaller animals in the distance. They were a minority at this point, of course. Most small animals had retreated into burrows for hibernation and birds had flown South. The ones brave enough to make themselves known usually became prey. Heoh could account for that. Red eyes closed. She was starting to get hungry again.

Lanter stumbled about in the snow his bright colors standing out against the white. Somehow he'd managed to loose track of his friend ShadowBlade, again. "I'll never hear the end of it when Blade finds me," he muttered.
"The snow sure is pretty might as well enjoy it." With childish abandon he fell over and rolled in the snow aquiring a white covering over his bright orange and yellow coat. This would have been a good thing in that he'd no longer stand out but the instant he stood up he shook all the snow off laughing.
Forgetting the fact that he was completely lost, Lanter trotted onward through the snowfall occassionally stopping to try to catch snowflakes on his tongue laughing at the sensation when he succeeded.

Hunger got the better of her after a short while. Not surprising. It had been at least two days. While winter meant less activity and less need to eat, not to mention the scarcity of resources anyway, two days was still a long time. Especially when sitting alone and doing nothing but watching the snow fall all around her chosen hideaway. Rising to a stand, the femme stepped forward, momentarily put-off by the cold against her paws as she moved out onto the blanket. She got over it quickly enough, however, and was on her way through the mostly barren trees in search of the sounds she'd heard earlier. Slipping under a prickly evergreen, she poked her head out on the other side, rather surprised at what she saw.

Prey was one thing, but a big child scaring away all her prey was the complete opposite. For a moment she remained hidden and watching, slightly confused as to how anyone could be so entertained while out in the freezing weather. Finally, she let out a chirp, hoping to catch the other's attention before she ventured out of the protection of the evergreen's ground-sweeping branches.

Lanter as always was completely unaware of his surrounds as he focused on finding joy in a setting others might find dreary. The chirp caused him to jump back narrowly missing biting his tongue. "Is someone there?" That's when he noticed movement in the evergreen and stared wide-eyed at the kylan that emmerged. He smiled warmly, "Hello there, I'm Lanter. How are you on this lovely snowy day?"

Straight-forward. Heoh liked that. It wasn't like her to mince words, nor did she appreciate it from others. Formality was fine and all that, but fluffing speech with long-winded introductions wasn't her style. "I'm Heoh," she announced right back, stopping a few feet away and observing his snowy form. "And I'm hungry. I was just out looking for prey, which your frolicking has likely chased further away." A smirk slipped to her maw. She didn't look upset at all, perhaps a bit amused, actually. "And although the answer may be obvious, how are you?"

Lanter reached up and scratched his ear looking away sheepishly. "I'm sorry about that. I tend not to think about stuff like that unless my stomach is growling." Lanter knew his faults and readily admitted to them, it was part of his innocent charm. With a wag of his tail he looked up and smiled again, "Its good to meet you Heoh. I'm trying to make the best of the day, though I have managed to get myself lost again. Someday my friend won't come find me and I'll be stuck. But since I'm here and its my noise that probably is going to make this harder, maybe I can help you hunt something down?" Lanter made the offer hopefully, it wasn't often the wandering male ran into a pretty girl and he really wanted to help. She'd probably tell him to kindly get along his own way though and he ducked his head again expecting just that response.

"Same. No real reason to worry if you're not hungry at the time, right?" Chuckling, she looked away momentarily, eyes scanning the crazy path in the snow that trailed out behind the male. There was quite a difference in his movement, at least compared to the calculated steps left behind her. Looking back to him, she raised a curious brow. "Lost, eh?" That was one reason she didn't wander too far from her cave. "If you've got nothing better to do, you may as well come along." Turning, she began to walk away from him and the crazy path he'd made. They were more likely to find something this way. Pausing, she peered back over her shoulder with a sly smile. "Just don't get in my way."

Lanter shook himself out, as if shedding away his childishness. He stood holding his head high like a respectable kylan should then grinned in his normal charming way, almost ruining the picture, "Thank you, and I wouldn't dream of getting in the way," he replied following. Yeah she was a bit like Blade straight to the point. Well he was used to hunting with his friend so the lady might be in for a surprise how helpful he could be when he set his mind to it.

"Alright," she said playfully, looking to the path again and moving on. Red eyes watched everything intently as paws carried her onward. Hopefully it wouldn't be long before they found something. She was growing hungrier and slightly agitated, but not enough to cloud her judgement. She kept her walking slow and quiet. Luckily, minutes later, something caught her attention. Ears perked forward and she stopped, looking back to the male to see if he'd noticed it, too.

Lanter wasn't being as attentive to his surrounds as he should have been, but Heoh was fascinating to watch. When she stopped Lanter stopped one foot of the ground. Then he carefully moved to her side to find out what had caught her attention.

((sorry its been almost a week, I've been easily distracted lately))

"Sounds like something's close," she muttered, speaking as quietly as possible. "I can't tell what it is yet, though." Finishing with that, she moved again, between the trees and closer to another clearing she could see in the distance. It was probably over there, whatever it was. Something with a white coat who didn't think it was in danger of predators, she figured. As long as it was an easy catch, she didn't care what it was. She was growing hungrier with a quickness. Coming upon the clearing, she peeked around a tree. But there was nothing. Confused brows furrowed. "Do you see anything?" she asked.

Lanter follow slightly to one side this time to expand the area they were observing. As they approached the clearing he kept himself low and his bright self behind what cover he could find. As she was he scanned the area visually and twitched his ears about trying to catch a sound. When Heoh asked if he'd seen anything he continued to observe and caught movement of a branch at the far end of the clearing that wasn't caused by the wind. "Over there, a branch moved," he replied making a slight pointing motion with his nose. "Somethings moving out there, perhaps your dinner. But with our coats its going to be hard to stalk something on the other end of a snow covered clearing."

"It's unfortunate." She completely agreed with his assessment. Both of them would stick out like sore thumbs, displaying such brightly colored coats and markings against the white world they were forced to inhabit. However, if it was as far as the branch he noted, they might be able to get to it another way. She was becoming grateful for his presence for sure now. It would be much, much harder on her own under this situation. "We might be able to flank it," she said, gaze following the edge of the clearing on either side of where they stood. "If we each take one side of the clearing, we might be able to reach it without leaving the trees." Casting him one final glance, she stalked off to the right of where they were.

Lanter nodded in agreement. If only Blade could see me now he thought and swallowed down the resulting bubble of amusement. No time for that now. He took to hunting mode. Backing away from the clearing a bit he moved as quickly as he could whilre remaining silent. He was grateful for the coating of snow that helped to silence his steps. As he moved, the orange kylandrei kept his eyes and ears open, occassionally he stopped to observe the spot again. Yeah there was definately something moving over there and he was getting closer with every step. If it turns out to be another kylan there's so going to be a fight.

Eyes on the prize, or at least the rustle of hope, she moved onward. The foliage became less and less dense with each step and she was slowly forced away from the edge of the clearing. Hopefully there would be enough cover to move in once they both reached the target. Luckily, it didn't take as long as she thought it would. From where she stood now she could see it. A... squirrel. Her expression dropped. She'd been hoping for a rabbit or something larger. But beggars couldn't be choosers, she supposed. Looking out across the clearing, but not spotting Lanter, she hesitated. It was a good thing he wasn't visible, but... Shaking away the doubt about her new hunting partner, she bolted from the trees, straight at the prey. If it fled, it would be fleeing right to where he was waiting. Hopefully.
