It was amazing how the most simple of things could ruin an entire master plan. Sen was sure she'd gotten everything down this time, but only recently did she realize something she hadn't calculated in before...

What if she had more than one?

...No. No. What happened when she did? Because, knowing her genes, she no doubt would. Their family was huge. One cub? Unheard of. She and Yue had a handful of direct siblings. Ai had... what? Seven? The thought of that many was a bit terrifying.

As more proof of her impending doom, she'd asked Mwokoti (who had made the mistaken of telling her she had such an ability) to influence the pregnancy so it would only be one. The Goddess had refused, annoyed in doing so, and told Sen she'd be responsible for them. 'Them'.

Oh, she'd see about that. If Yue would ever come in handy, it would be now. Luck wanted this, too, she decided. Otherwise she wouldn't have found Hari first. The seer tagged along behind her as she scouted the lands for her sibling.

"Yuuuue!"

s**t. What the hell did his sister want?

Yue pulled himself away from his favouring sunning spot. He had grown a bit lazy lately, and all he bothered to do was lie around and maybe go get something to eat every once in a while. Why? He didn't know. Maybe he just felt like everything was going fine, and he had little to worry about.

Oooh, what little did he know.

He stretched, giving out quite a large yawn before lazily walking over to where he heard Sen's voice.

"What, Sen?" he groaned. Not knowing that Hari was right with her, he jumped a bit once he saw. Oohh, s**t. What trouble was he in now?

Hari had no qualms about giving Yue his alone time. It was during these times she creeped up to the mountains to continue her attempts to dig out a certain Goddess. When questioned, though, she replied she was out hunting. Her story held up because she did always bring something back. Her contributions to the pride and what Sen in her blissful ignorance of the truth saw as dedication had the queen growing fond of her despite her previous jealousy.

And she was glad, because their friendship, and her relationship with Yue, odd and perhaps unofficial as it was, would come in handy now.

This had to be approached delicately...

"I want you to have kids."

Very delicately...

Yue couldn't believe his ears. In fact, he could barely feel them, since they had gotten so hot from embarassment.

"What the hell brought that on?" he asked, somehow managing to not yell it out at her. He had never really thought about a family before. Maybe a girl here or there, yeah, what male didn't? But a family? Erg...just the idea of cubs made his fur stand up a little.

He couldn't help but let his eyes wander over to Hari for a moment, to try and see what her reaction was to this. Did she knew that Sen was going to say this? He quickly diverted his eye's away from Hari's, back to Sen. He...really hoped she didn't see that, but knowing his sister, she knew everything.

Everything and then some.

Sen had a hard time not smirking as she caught her brother's eyes move behind her. What else would he be looking at? She'd predicted this reaction exactly.

The way Hari observed Yue could only be described as innocence innocent enough to prompt suspicion. Judging by that look, she not only knew what Sen was going to say, she was probably in on the whole thing. Her silence seemed to back up that idea.

"Because, Yue, we still don't have advisors and a number of other problems. Most of which can be solved by increasing numbers. Just going out and getting rogues will only lead to the downfall of this place again. We have to get cubs. You know, raise them young. Right, Hari?"

"I agree," Hari piped up. "Lakisa's sons are failures so far as well, but they'll probably learn by example."

Yue still couldn't believe his ears. What the hell was up with women? He always had a hunch that all they cared about was kids, kids, kids. At least, that was what it seemed like when they were living in the Pridelands. He thought he escaped all that crap.

"So why does it have to be me?" he snarled, obviously still not pleased with the idea. Having little mini versions of himself running around just...creeped him out. The thoughts made his skin itch.

"Aren't there other guys out there? I'm sure they'd be more willing." Stubborn male.

Among other things, Sen had a way of making the unoffical, official, and doing so with just one sentence: "Yue, are you calling your mate a whore?"

Hari, no doubt the mate his sibling had spoken of, stared at Yue blankly. Which, really, was more frightening.

Alright. So if Yue wasn't embarassed before this, he certainly was now. And it wasn't only embarassment. He felt the simmering of fury in there as well.

"What?" he breathed, the word hardly escaping his mouth. He narrowed his eyes as he stared at Sen for a long, hard moment, before they loosened as he looked at Hari. While, though maybe he did fancy her a bit, he felt...sad? No, sorry that it seemed like Sen had just decided that that was that! And no way around it.

"Since...since when?!"

Sen had always wondered if things would have been different if Yue had been a girl. A sister... would have been nice. Sure, there were the older ones, but they didn't count. Girls were smarter, so had Yue been one, he'd have listened to her and not mouthed off. (Of course if he -was- a girl this wouldn't work anyway, but that's not the point.)

"Well... You're usually always together lately," Sen pointed out. Yes, play the casual observer card. "I figured it was officially unofficial by now?"
PostPosted: Fri Feb 29, 2008 4:56 pm

"You figured?"

Wait. Why should he fight this? When had he, in his whole life, had he actually won a fight against his sister? Well, s**t. He was stuck now, wasn't he? That still didn't mean he would admit it.

"Well, it's obvious that you've just been spending your time unwisely," he snapped. He couldn't help it, but the idea of his sister seeing whatever he did creeped him out.

He mildly wondered how Hari was feeling. Probably just like how he did, maybe? Pinned in something he couldn't get out of.

"Actually, I only know because I have to speak with Hari about many pride-related issues every day, and like I said, she's usually with you. You'd probably know that if you did any work. Lazy king." Sen shrugged to herself and glanced over at the other lioness. "Well, what do you think?"

"I wouldn't want to force Yue into fatherhood, but..." Hari's voice trailed off for a brief time. "Well... None of us are getting any younger, and heirs are nessecary at this point. Besides that, Yue would make a fine father."
PostPosted: Fri Feb 29, 2008 5:12 pm

"Hmph." Yeah, he lost this one hard, didn't he?

Plus, it really didn't look like Hari was on his side to fight this. No way, not with that last comment that she left. Him, a father? Hah! He couldn't imagine himself as one, ever. But he'd probably have to get used to it soon, because even if he tried to resist Sen, she'd probably drive him over the edge, and he...really didn't want to think about that.

"So obviously the two of you were planning this in some way," he said bitterly, keeping his face away from the two of them. Maybe Hari had been caught by surprise, but he couldn't help but lump the two of them together at this moment in time.

Sen stuck her tongue out, proof she wasn't quite as adult as she looked still. "Don't be so paranoid, Yue. Jeez." If only he'd known. Sen hadn't planned this with Hari. In fact, the two had completely different plans that just so happened to work out to aid the other in accomplishing their own. "Anyway, I'll see you later."

And with that, Sen trotted off, hoping that both she had Hari didn't have six. Because if she had to push five more into Hari's litter, even Yue might suspect something.

As far as she was concerned, the one she was handing over to Nsundu was the only one she'd ever had.

As far as Hari was concerned, she was in the clear on potentially getting booted due to her mother's uneased attitude around her.

Win, win. You know, for everyone but Yue.
