I've said several times to several people that I've recently had a problem with unintentionally turning away from god. I was drawn into an anime or two that I shouldn't have even considered in the first place.
Now I'm afraid that I'll 'relapse' and give into the temptation. I don't want to go there, but I can feel myself losing the battle against this!!
Please pray that I don't. Pray for my well being. My sanity. My soul.
Especially, Pray for my mind.
The mind is the battlefield.

"Ask, and it shall be given to you."
I'm praying for you, Aquiella. I know what that's like, and I want to help you as much as I can.
Here's what I've found works: put or hide them in a place you wouldn't want other people see you reading them. That loses interest, and eventually the interest is as low as can be or zero.
Hope that helped.

Well, that would work... if books were the problem. I'm talking about Anime. The cartoon form. (Manga is the book form.) It shows on Toonami and the other on Adult Swim. I was into the cartoon. And anything I could find on the internet. Pictures, Fanfiction, Flashes, Comics, and I had a desktop background of my favorite male character from each, wearing mostly... nothing. *shakes finger at self*
I'm trying my best to avoid it at all, but with the internet, it's hard. I've cleared most of it from my favorites in alot of the sites I went to. (hard to do. trust me. one. at. a. time. Bleck.)
I know more about Inuyasha than any good, christian girl has a right to. *hides in shame*
Thank you for the prayers though!! *hugs*

Aquiella I know more about Inuyasha than any good, christian girl has a right to. *hides in shame* Yeah, I know. I read the first 25 or so books, then lost interest. I've also seen a couple episodes. It was one of my phases. I know what you mean. Since it's anime, try this: Do something different, like crosswords or anagram puzzles, during the time slots the shows are on. Or, watch different, more purposeful shows. Discovery has a lot of those, like Cash Cab at 6 eastern. There are others like Man vs. Wild, Dirty Jobs, and How it's Made. All really good shows. And instead of going to sites that have pics, flashes, etc., try some of the games at escapegames24.com or godlimations.com. Hope that helped. Still praying, Aquiella.

Thanks! EP
Part of me wants to call this a "Christian Kick" that I'm on. I know better, but my brain is still wanting to find ways around this decision!! (i'm reading Left Behind and my brain suggested that I do a story on it with the Inuyasha characters. I told my brain to shut up.)
Keep praying! It's working!! ED *happy dance*

You're in my prayers too. Here's the number one rule. Never get discouraged. Discouragement is the adversary's greatest tool to prevent us from walking down the road of repentance. I know by experience that it can feel as though that road might never end, but remember God cares about the journey as much as the destination. As long as you're fighting and trying with everything you've got, he continues to bless you in more and more ways that you may or may not notice, and based on how hard you try or how great your desire is to follow him, his grace is sufficient for you.
Studies have shown that the hormones involved in looking at certain images can be more powerful and addictive than cocaine and nicotine combined, but the simple fact that God loves you enough to let you feel guilty is a true sign that he wants to help you change and that he is with you every step of the way. I hope this can bring you solace in your trials.

I believe you can engage in a healthy level of entertainment activities like watching Inuyasha or other shows as long as you don't let them rule you. Some can't handle more than an hour a day without getting sidetracked from important things, and others who may be addicted might have to stop watching shows entirely until they regain control. I was taught in a social sciences class once that children and teens should ideally be limited to no more than 2 hours of TV or video games per day. I think that was the APA that advised that.
