Alot of people have been getting back into the E7 spirit lately after a short downer period, myself included. Now, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's wanted to surf on the trapar since I first saw the show, but as I pondered it today I had a thought....

I want to try REAL surfing!

And I plan to! Well, at least a bit. During the summer Lake Erie does get a few good waves, and I think it would be a good place to get the hang of it a little. I should probably work on that swimming thing first though....

ANYWAYS! So, has Eureka seveN ever inspired you to try something you wouldn't normally try? Who's with me on the surfing thing?

Watersports have always had a certain appeal to me, but I'd rather try surfing where the water isnt 33 degrees farenheight sweatdrop

Im going on a cruise this summer, maybe I can put in a days worth of surfing lessons on one of the days when the liner docks at a port and everybody get s to go play on land for a day.

Lucky stiff, going on a cruise! gonk I never get vacations because I have things to be doing.

I wish you luck on that, though. I can't get lessons, but I think I can do it if I try. Hopefully I'll float better after I slim down so I can rest knowing I probably won't die....probably. I'll be sure to take pics when I try and share with everyone. You can laugh at my attempt at being cool.

Incidentally, I tried skateboarding once. I had a great board and all, but it just didn't work. Boarding isn't like surfing, you aren't riding anything and there just isn't that harmony thing. So of course, I failed horribly. gonk But at least I'm not partially disfigured from boarding like my one friend.

Surfing, yes, I have tired it thanks to eureka seven, but it looks so much easier than it really is. Well at first it is, but once you figure it out it becomes really fun, I could only go for a few hours since the camp I was at only had instructors and boards for that long.

I have snowboarded only because my friend convinced me!! xd She said if I didn't try it then it would be like missing a chance of something that's similar to ref boarding lol though honestly I want to attempt to surf more then to snowboard mrgreen

I've been snowboarding about three times and failed each of those times.

I would try surfing, it looks fun, but I have oone little problem.

I. CAN'T. SWIM.

That's the only thing holding me back. That, and I'm afraid I'll get pulled into a rip tide or something! XP

Ugh, I know what you mean. gonk My problem isn't so much that I *can't* swim...it's more that my body doesn't WANT me to swim. My left foot is slightly messed up. The doctor-person said losing some weight could get it back to normal, but as it is right now it makes paddling in the water very difficult. I get off center. Not to mention the Kayako-doesn't-float thing. gonk

Several reasons why I want to try it at Erie first. Less rip tides plus shallower waters in case of falling into the water like a dummy.

I've gone snowboarding a few times it was good except the getting on the lift part, I always made the people mad I don't move fast enough. biggrin But I used to do some skateboarding can't anymore hurts my knees too much.

I'm actually going to Hawaii this summer and I'm forcing my parents to let me go surfing. Lifting just looks so cool, that I have to try the closest thing we've got. I was also thinking that lifting was a lot like skateboarding, and I would try that but, lets face it, falling in water is one thing, crashing into cement is WAY more painful. xp I think I'll stick to trying surfing.

Mine would be well it kinda go's along the lines of swimming/ lifting. Me my parents and my aunt and uncle and sister where out on our lake when my aunt kept bugging me to go on the tube. When I got on my aunt was telling me to tell them if got to scared and tell her to stop. Well I kept telling her to go faster. When she turned the boat I went off the wake and was in mid air for a few seconds. Then a gust of wind cought under the tube flipping me over slamming me into the water like when wave breaks and you get hit by it. I would like to surf because it is fun to watch.

Hmm.. that makes me think, you can get pretty darn close with wake-boarding. It involved a board and flipping about in the air. It's perfect! biggrin

That's something I would also like to try. Too bad there's no lakes around here. Well, there is a man-made one but I don't think you can wake-board there.

Then there's wind surfing and some kind of surfing involved with a parasail, like paragliding. The latter one looks really fun. It's kind of like wakeboarding, but on the ocean and without a boat. Can you do it on a lake?

That's true crashing into the cement hurts so much more then sinking into the water!!
