Hey, guys!

Well, I was wondering something: if you think back as far as you can, what are your earliest Queen-related memories? I mean, nobody here was born Queen-obsessed, so there must have been a time when you were only dimly aware of them.

Or maybe I'm wrong. Maybe you had a mom or dad or older sibling who was into Queen, and introduced them to you at an early age.

Whatever your story is, please share!

In my case...well, for my ninth birthday one of my gifts was a Radio Disney CD that had We Will Rock You and We Are The Champions on it. I hadn't heard either of them before, and, being since at the time I was rather tone-deaf, didn't appreciate the songs very much. I was impressed with the guitar work on "We Will Rock You", though.

In fifth grade, I recall playing some game in P.E. when the team I was on was completely creamed, and I jokingly sang "We Are The Champions"; unfortunately, hardly anybody knew the song, so only one girl joined in.

And, then there was this one time when a few of my friends and I were hanging out at recess, talking about songs and even singing little snippets of them. I brought up We Are The Champions--and, amusingly enough, I remember asking if the singer was a man or a woman. (I was freaking ten, okay? And seriously, if you were listening to the song with no knowledge whatever of Freddie/Queen, it really is kind of hard to tell! I'm not even making fun of Freddie or anything.) I then sang a portion of it, and one of my friends said, "Hey, you kind of sound like that guy..."

After which, my other friend and I looked at her really weird and she recanted, saying that she "only meant a little bit."

Funny--if somebody now told me that I sang like Freddie Mercury, (which, I most assuredly do not xd ) I'd probably melt into a puddle and die of sheer happiness on the spot.

So, does anybody else have some of their early Queen memories to share? (Hopefully a little more interesting than mine?) I'm curious!

I have a vague memory of being somewhere between 7 and 12...sometime in elementary school...anyways, we were at an assembly for sports, and people started stomping and clapping along to WWRY...only the first bit, over and over again...I remember getting really pissed, because there were other parts of the song other that 'we will, we will rock you.', but no one was singing them...I just sat there fuming, even though I only sort of knew what the verses were...

ooooh-and I remember watching 'Mighty Ducks' and being all excited when the sang Champions at the end

Well, when I was 12 we could chose to translate ether We Will Rock You or a song which I don't remember at all, from English to Swedish. Back then I was kind of different than what I am today, so of course I chose the song which I now can't remember because I thought We Will Rock You sounded brutal and like a boy-song. sweatdrop

At the same age I was kind of obsessed by the movie "Moulin Rouge" and my favorite song was The show must go on. I used to sing it (not sure I got the words right, it's in English and I wasn't that good back then xD) with my friends who also was obsessed with Moulin rouge.

First memory of Queen was when I was around 7-8. Mom had a greatest hits record, and she'd play it sometimes. Other than knowing WWRY/WATC, I didn't know anything.
Lol my brother, when he was little, he thought We Will Rock You meant in rocking chairs. rofl

My next memory of Queen was when I started to get into them in middle school. heart

Wow...awesome memories, guys! It's always kind of funny when you look back to when the fog of non Queen-obsessiveness had still been consuming you, when you're in the midst of die-hard fandom.

Or maybe that's just me... sweatdrop

Yeah, same here. I have a real knack for getting into bands just after they've stopped touring. xd It's freaky, and I don't know why...

No man, I'm that way too.
I look back and laugh. I mean, if me from then and me from now ever met, my past self would be like "Damn, you're a freak."

Oh yes.
Back then, I knew not that much about the band, and I was obsessed with and had a huge crush on Freddie... when I found out he was gay that kinda killed the crush... ^^; I was a pretty stupid middle schooler... ^^;

Wow, it sure is good to know I'm not alone. Sometimes I forget who I'm talking to in this Guild. I'm just so used to articulating myself towards non-Queen fans.

Queen obsessors stick together, man! blaugh
