I'm currently playing the 4th case. The first case is great, but the story loses steam in the middle of the second case, and really flags during the 3rd in my opinion. Thankfully the DS additions make the game worthwhile; the perceive system is awesome, as are all the new CSI-like features like footprint taking and sound analysis.

I'm at the end of the second case. Pretty good so far, I gotta say. I'm not sure if this is just me, but I think hobo Phoenix is slightly cooler than lawyer Phoenix. xD;

Yeah, hobo Phoenix is more seasoned and wiser in this game, which makes him a whole lot cooler. It's like he's become Mia in this game for Apollo.

Disappointing....
In Ace atterny, the game felt..complete,without needing any sequels..you wanted them.the sequels themselves all felt complete, and expanded on a very good storyline...
But this game feels like it NEEDS a sequel thanks to the massive questions your left with, especially at the end of the game. It's fun to play, but it doesn't feel complete..that opinion will probably change once the sequel for this comes out...but as a stand alone game, it feels lacking. There's just so many unanswered questions...witch I won't mention,to avoid spoilers...
but that's just storywise.Gameplay,it's very fun but it feels very short...and I can't help but feel that we only got half of the game...

I agree that there are a lot of unanswered questions regarding the plot.
But I'm less critical of the game because you have to consider that this is indeed the fourth installment of a long-running series; as such some of the previous characters and subplots have to be addressed without impeding the growth and introduction of new characters. For example, how do you pull off having two main characters in the series appear in the same game? We all know and love Phoenix, but it's Apollo that we have to come and learn to appreciate now.
I agree overall the game isn't as good as the first one, but I consider it a worthy title in the series.
On another note, I really hate Klavier Gavin. Who the heck is a rock star and a prosecutor at the same time? I found that really hard to believe, even by Phoenix Wright standards.

Hitokiri Oniken I agree that there are a lot of unanswered questions regarding the plot. Who the heck is a rock star and a prosecutor at the same time? I found that really hard to believe, even by Phoenix Wright standards. I agree with you...but that's also the problem. I was able to see right away most of the villains and most of the time figure out what kind of evidence I had to present because of the old games. The cases were long, but I would have enjoyed more of them.....maybe earning a few hidden cases by presenting different evidence at different points,or different storylines depending on what contadiction you discover. The gameplay's great of course, but if you DO play those first three games, you kinda feel 'experienced' enough to figure out what the contradictions are easily....probably because new people are starting to play these games, and they had to adjust the difficulty level accordingly. I hope the next game's a bit harder.... or maybe just alow for a few 'what if' cases that you can unlock after you beat the game,or simply bonus cases that are mentioned somewhere in the storyline.(The DL-6,SL-9 cases, the don tigre case....a few complete 'joke cases'.Seriously, someone sued another person for throwing a snowball..I would love to see a trial of that......

I liked it. Overall I didn't laugh nearly as much as I did while playing PW, but it was alright. =3 The graphics and sound quality were definitely superior in AJ, but as for the character development...I think the PW characters were more established by the end of the first game than the characters in AJ are. I also do not dig Klavier's double-profession. He was certainly the nicest prosecutor in all the series, but that made him seem less of a rival than any of Phoenix's prosecuting opponents. Apollo needs someone to really clash with, I think.

Yar i think when PW VI comes out it will answer some of the questions, like apollo's backstory and what happened to all the pw characters like edgeworth and franzika

I beat it. It was okay. I was looking for more though.
Klavier is my all-time "holy crap I hate you so much" character of the series. Don't ask me why. The double-profession. The fact that he's German. WHAT THE HECK CAPCOM YOU'VE ALREADY GIVEN US TWO GERMAN PROSECUTORS.
Excuse me.
In any case, the final case is very anticlimactic, and everything is overall easy. It requires little thought. And yes, there were plenty questions unanswered. But that's what fanfictions are for.

theonlypie Yar i think when PW VI comes out it will answer some of the questions, like apollo's backstory and what happened to all the pw characters like edgeworth and franzika true..but I wasn't really interested in that. I wanted to learn more about.... SPOILERS: "Those" Psyche locks(you know what i'm talking about!), and those paintings. Yes,i'm trying to say it in as non-spoilerific way as possible.

They did make it easier with the whole "looking for body language" part of it, all you needed to do when you are cross examining for the most part is look where the sprites are different, that is most likely where the contridiction is (regardless of using the minuki system) maybeh its just me
