The waves lapped at his legs, and the full moon shone over head, lighting everything with a surreal glow. The winds whipped about, toseling Sesshoumaru's furr, as with apathetic ruby eyes, he watched the black night sea. Silent was the great qilin, Sesshoumaru, a strong pillar in the midst of the impending storm. Unafraid, unmoving, waiting for something and nothing at the same time. The qilin's true intentions were always a mystery, as he was intelligent, proud, feared, and respected. Too inteligent to share his plans, too proud to risk embarrasment, too feared to be questioned, and too respected to be doubted. It was on this night the lone qilin stood and wait for something even he couldn't quite describe -- The magic of the eclipse, when the gateway to the spirit world opened, and spoke with the living. As much as he disliked his late father, he could not help but seek him for guidance. Dislike and reverace might conflict, but it was no more than his father deserved, so he thought. But with the coming storm threatening the path between earth, moon, and sky, all Sesshoumaru could do was wait. Be it minutes or hours, this Sesshoumaru would have his answers.

To Dié the night was calm, no questions to be answered or upcoming storms troubled her mind. She was very far from her shrine, the little stream in front of her shrine had met a river which led her to a lake, a waterfall and more rivers, on and on, only the voices of startled humans at sunset had caught her attention for a brief moment before she dived back into the rushing waters.
It was the first time the young qilin had laid eyes on the sea, and it was exactly like she thought it would look like.
There were no other qilin living at her shrine, only distant memories of parents and her own reflection in glossy-flat waters reminding her what qilin look like, so it was quite understandable that when she spotted another figure she almost fell backwards. It was still silhouette in the night, so far away, but the presence was unmistakable. The faint feel of magic tinged the air, smelling wild and sophisticated at the same time.
It wasn't a hard decision to make, Dié trotting towards the other figure across grass and patches of dirt and sand. A curious head tilted to the side, the young qilin stopping several yards short of the other.

Sesshoumaru's ears swivelled, hearing the footsteps of another. Looking over his shoulder at the footstep's owner, he saw an almost spectre-like form, moon casting the same white glow it did on his own pale body.
"You. What business do you have here?" His cool voice called out, comandingly. Chilling.
What time did this Sesshoumaru have for anyone? All the time in the world. What patience did he have for others? Slim to none. Still, these were not his lands. He had no authority here, so he couldn't very well fault another for coming here aswell.

Ears swung down before perking back up again, his words just noises until the instinctual qilin knowledge of speech floated back to Dié. Her head ducked down before lifting again, not completely unaffected by the cold manner of the other's voice. Not socializing tends to do that, an unawareness of tones and mannerisms others might have.
"I don't have any business here." Dié replied simply and honestly, feeling generally pleased with herself.
The other was different, she realized. Not just from the stronger masculine, her mind supplied the word, smell. His horns weren't right, instinct told Dié, but she didn't understand what that meant. His tail, too. Dié sat carefully, light eyes observing the other with an innocent curiously.

A harsh gust of wind blew, as Sesshoumaru looked back out to the ocean, watching large dark clouds cover the moon. The surreal glow was gone. The magic of the Eclipse lost till the storms parted again, but alas, Sesshoumaru could smell the storm raging in those clouds, and soon enough, a tell-tale rumble came.
The winds still whipping about, seshoumaru took a stepp back from the waters, and strode with his head held high to the other, inwardly commenting on her innocence. "Then what brings you to this place? This Sesshoumaru wishes to know."

Dié stared up at the other qilin, an odd sort of smile playing on her face. She enjoyed the feel of the winds on her, but the rumble had caused her to flinch- there had never been a noise like that near her home.
"The small river by my shrine led me to a larger river, then a lake, and more rivers and more lakes until I came here." She explained, long tail curling around her seated form.
"Did you swim here from your shrine?" She asked with a cocked head.

"There is no shrine that can house this Sesshoumaru," was his arrogant reply, as he jerked his head up and looked down at her.
Sesshoumaru had not been 'home' in a long, long time. Sesshoumaru and the fortune of "heavenly Life" did not coincide well. still, it was the goodness in him that he tried to deny, that kept him from being labeled a "misfortune" though the personality was not far off. A great many of the Fortune Qilins were happy, and easy going.
Fools. Every. Single. One of them.
Sesshoumaru was selective with those who he brought fortune to. very selective. Heavenly Life was not something one gave, or something another earned easily, and without trial, so it stood to reason Sesshoumaru was no easy going fellow.

It was then that Dié was able to completely pin down how the other was different from her. She could sense it, the feeling radiating off of him was so close to some of the humans she had seen the few times they visited her shrine and laid offerings, or when she traveled from her home. Like with a human who needed her help, her fortune was telling her to care for him. He didn't have a gentle soul. Restless, maybe even a little angry. It was so strange to discover this in another qilin, and it caused a small shiver to run up her spine.
"You are a very proud..." what was he calling himself? "You are a very proud Sesshoumaru." Dié informed him, head tilting to the other side.
"Why?"

"That is none of your business." Sesshoumaru said with a sharp movement. "State your name. Sesshoumaru wishes to know who you are." Ruby to diamond, Sesshoumaru reguarded her carefully, as the wind continued its assault.
This simple girl dared ask him why he was so proud. Sesshoumaru would have scoffed, had it been a more dignified thing to do. He was more composed then that.

"My name is Dié." She replied, and surprisingly held her head higher as she said it, even to herself. "I am the gifter of gentle habits and humility, so do you see why it is my business?" The female rebutted, lowering her head slightly and looking up at him.
It was her domain of expertise, after all.
"But I cannot gift you with my fortune. You don't want it, and you are like me- a qilin. I don't think it's possible."

"Then Dié would be correct -- I do not want you 'gift'." Sesshoumaru replied with a swish if his fluffy tail. He couldn't aford to be so fool hardy. "Inflict your gift upon the deserving-" He said as he walked past her, looking over his soulder at her. "The Eclipse is gone for now. This Sesshoumaru has no more business here."

 ((Just like Rin <3 ))
Her tail flicked as she stood, trotting up to Sesshoumaru's side, eyes flicking between watching the path and watching the other qilin. So curious, she could not see why he would want to remain angry, or why he thinks he is not deserving.
"You say 'this Sesshoumaru', does that mean there are more than one Sesshoumaru?" Dié asked idly, not able to help a glance back at the growing storm. "Where are we going? Away from the wind and the noise?"

"There is only one Sesshoumaru." He replied. "And where he is going is none of your business." Certain beings should be seen and not heard, Sesshoumaru decided, as he trod through the forest with quiet steps.
Deeper and deeper in the forest, till the sund of waves were distant, and the whistle of the winds through the trees drowned them out. Then the sky lit with a flash of gold, and a rumble resounded.

Well, it being none of her business would not stop Dié from following him.
The forest smelled very different from the forest around her shrine, and Dié began to wonder exactly how far she had swum from home, and if the magic of the waters had transported her. The thought didn't trouble her, because as long as she could find the river she climbed out from, she could make her way back to the starting point. Some things should proabably be seen and not heard, and while Dié was quite a sight with the moon glowing off of pale scales and skin, she had no concept of what people generally referred to as 'talking too much.'
"'We' are going." Dié corrected, "I'm following you." The female pointed out the obvious will all the usefulness of a rock.
Dié jumped at the flash, her shoulder hit the other's side. Her head swiveled, wide eyes regarding the area of sky that the flash and bang had come from.
