Um but yeah! You're lucky to know what you want to do! I'm only in grade 10 but already I feel so much pressure to make up my mind as to what I'm going to do for the rest of forever. ;_;

It's called "American" sign-language because us Americans think we invented everything. :]

That's a very interesting jobs, Sakura. Are you going to be a teacher or work with deaf students, do you mean?
I've always been sort of curious about ASL myself, but I never really had the time to learn. I know part of the alphabet, but that's it. It's just like any language - it takes a great deal of time to learn. But, it's a good thing to know, whether you "need" it or not.
@Rocket and Winter - Don't freak out, you guys. Did you know that like over half of all university students don't know what they want to do? And those that do know, some end up switching their majors when they realize they like something else better. It seems like too many kids look at this as something that is final - it's not. It's perfectly okay if you don't know. There are programs at any university, that you can enter and try a little of everything. That will help you decide.

Fagosaurus Rex It's called "American" sign-language because us Americans think we invented everything. :] Follow your common sense You cannot hide yourself behind a fairytale forever and ever Only by revealing the hole truth can we disclose The soul of this sick bulwark forever and ever Forever and ever
 Well, didn't we? xD Just kidding. Well, all throughout history, there have been people who thought they were the first, and quite honestly the Chinese were the first to invent a lot of things. So, everyone takes the credit away from the Chinese.
Wow, that was randomness. Gah, I'm not awake yet -sips hot apple cidar mix drink thing that's rich with Vitamin C supposidly-. Grr...I need to really just wake up in 10 minutes so I can go build sets for most of today. I can't spell when I'm this tired, sorry for anything I misspell.
Back on topic. I don't really know specifically what I want to do, but I want to go into BioChemistry just because I like Chemistry, and my uncle said that just going into Chemistry does prove to get old, and he found BioChem a lot more interesting, and also I think I'd like to work as a lab technition of a sort. All I know is I'd like to work in a lab, and I'd like to be presented with knew scientific challenges each day.
I also want to be a performer/composer, but that's more of a side thing I guess...I love music a lot, but some things have to come first I guess.

I don't understand it either, I mean why does there have to be American sign language and Finnish sign language and Japanese sign language and...well you get the point. Why does every language have a sign language of their own? Wouldn't it be great if a person who's deaf/mute/challenged in some other way could go anywhere and other people who understand sign language would instantly understand what they are trying to say. This current thing just makes things hard and might cause confusion when you're trying to sign about the weater and the other person thinks you're insulting their mother.... But studying sing language is a totally awesome thing. I'd study it too if I could.

When I was young I went to an ASL program for a month. Within the month I knew over 1000 words in ASL.
It's not hard to learn. Just remembering them and what they mean is the difficult part.

Every year I thought I knew what I wanted to do with myself in the future-and every year it changed. To be honest, I'm halfway done my undergrad degree in Psychology, Biology and Science Education and I'm thinking of switching to history and anthropology because that's what I'm good at. I love psychology though. I love the brain. I really want my future to be all about neuroscience, but, in a world like this, because I don't have top grades, I'm not good enough for that field. Then again, I'm going to one of the top universities and they ******** us over for everything. D<
UofT: "Yeah? You paid? Good. Now get out." Me: "NOOOO. D<" UofT: "Oh, so you're a clinger? I see how it is. That's okay. We'll shake you off...slowly, ever so painfully." Me: "OxO Ahhhhh!" UofT: "BWAHAHAHAHAHAHHA xD" Me: Lying on the floor, bloody, beaten and bare.
=x= That is my life. In Canada we call it Sign Language. And that's it. I've never heard it called ASL before-until now.
And just for the record, though the Chinese invented a lot, I believe ancient Egyptians and other ancient civilizations invented a lot more...which helped us reach where we are today. =) Though not exactly proud of where we are today. =[
...
Sorry, totally pessimistic right now. Dx
