Hi, what sorts of music do you all like to listen to? Any specific, favorite songs? What genres?

For me, I generally like lots of different types of music. Sometimes I like hip hop or even classical. I usually love pop and alternative. I only have one favorite song that keeps on being my favorite, and it's stable. But, my 'current obsession' of a song can change. I love my 'current obsessions' but, of course, they are not my favorite. XD It's hard to explain. It's like they give me a surge of energy, then once I find some other song to obsess over, it becomes less 'energizing...' I don't know. Anyhow, my favorite singer is Sara Bareilles and I own her CD. 3nodding Her songs are awesome! My favorite is Love Song, second fav. is Fairy Talee, and third is Bottle It Up. My favorite alternative/pop songs are Misery Business by Paramore and I Write Sins Not Tragedies by Panic! At the Disco. Hm...oh, and my favorite hip hop song is Run the Show by Kat De Luna! My favorite dance/electronica/techno song is...well...I have a few.
Okay, enough about my favorite music.

Ooooo music! ^^
Well what I'm not into is rap, pop, R&B, and most country artists. So that leaves some country, rock, and classical (I play piano). At the moment I'm in love with MUSE (ok maybe not "in love" but really, really, really, really, like the band xp ). I like Franz Ferdinand, Rise Against, Linkin Park, AC DC, E.L.O., The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Clash, The Police, and so many more. I also like Franz Schubert, Felix Mendelssohn, and Johnny Cash

I like almost everything except country. && I get what you mean by obssessive and favorites. Like my favorites are Dido/Enya/P!ATD/Paramore but obsessions are like Reliant K, The Medic Droid, Shiny Toy Guns [my current fav!] And things like that. Sometimes they get overplayed [myyy fault,] or they become favorites C:

I like pretty much everything except rap, hip-hop, and classical (though, I do have a techno remix of Mozart's "In the Hall of the Mountain King" on my iPod sweatdrop ). My favorite songs and bands change every few days, but currently, I like Linkin Park, Skillet, Billy Joel (I'm trying to memorize the song "We Didn't Start the Fire" xd Look up the lyrics. You'll see why I'm having trouble), Nickelback, Avenue Q (If You Were Gay, FTW!), Pat Benatar, and a lot more that I don't want to bore you with. 3nodding

Cool! biggrin I like every genre. XD Even some hip hop and I love country...and classical and even folk songs and Disney songs and Broadway songs... Yeah... XD And alternative-punk and new age and ...well, everything! XD;;;

My music fix that never seems to go away is listening to the Guilty Gear soundtracks cool And Motoi Sakuraba is my other gaming-music-idol =D
In "Real Music", as my friends dub it, I listen to mostly Rock and Metal, with my favourite bands composing of Rush, Nightwish, Queen, and Terra Nova.
Also, Musical soundtracks roxxorz. (I.E. Phantom of the Opera, Rent, Across the Universe and the soundtrack to the musical my school produced. [Oz!])

I like the songs from Phantom of the Opera! But I liked the books better than the movies, well, actually...I have only seen one movie. I have never seen the Broadway or other versions...Actually, I am not sure which version of the movie I've seen...
Anyhow, Gaston Leroux is a great author.

And, I like the song "The Phantom of the Opera" ...it's catchy. XD
And about Rent: I heard a really good song from that, even though I've never seen it. The song "Seasons of Love" I think it's called... the 525600 minutes one.

I like mostly rock and whatnot, I'll listen to anything though.

I tend not to be terribly impressed by the mainstream bands. You know the ones that I mean. The seven or so bands that everyone is obsessed with. I guess I am not a huge fan of very current music.
I like The Barenaked Ladies, Dave Matthews Band, Guster, The Proclaimers, Toad The Wet Sprocket, Rusted Root, R.E.M., and Nickelback. A few of them have had some recent stuff. But I feel like none of them are bands that are extrememly popular now and won't be in a year or two. No, either you've never heard of them or you remember them.
I also really, really like showtunes. Avenue Q, Les Miserables, Cats, A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum, Sweeny Todd (Not with Johnny Depp. I personally think that he can't sing, but that is just me.), Into The Woods, Grease, Wicked, Joseph And The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, Jesus Christ Superstar, Godspell, Musical of Musicals, Phantom of The Opera... I could go on.
