Ugh, what kind of place was this? It was certainly no place like his London. Not that it was worth much anymore. The lush green grass and the fruit bearing trees brought no happiness to his thoughts. No longer was the world the beautiful thing it had been when he was young and naive.

There was a barber and his wife
and she was beautiful...
a foolish barber and his wife.
She was his reason for his life...
and she was beautiful, and she was virtuous.
And he was nieve.

There was no one worth his attention anymore, no one to love. What was love? There was no love, just some petty dream. Something that had brought him happiness for a short amount of time before that damn judge came and trampled it all.

There was another man who saw
that she was beautiful...
A biased vulture of the law
who, with a gesture of his claw
removed the barber from his plate!

No, there was nothing left for him now. Not here, the only somewhat interesting creature he had met had been that Mrs. Lovett. They had seemed to share some of the same feelings. Perhaps he could be happy once again? No, that was impossible. Not without his beloved. However, if he could get his hands on that damned judge then perhaps he could be at some sort of peace. Yes, perhaps that could work, get rid of that damned volture and start anew. Lost deep within his thoughts he wandered on.

He didn't like leaving his home on the cliffs of the shore, where fish was plentiful and he didn't have to worry about standing out in a crowd. Though, when winter tugged at one's claws, even with feathers to protect the neck, and threatened to suck the life from the ever beating heart; it was time to move on. And that was excatly what the hawk-eyed nequus had done. Traveling away from the comfort of his home by the ocean, to drag and deal with the prejudice nequus of the valley; albit it was warmer here and Sanue hardly had to worry about freezing his fore-claws; which at the moment were digging themselves into the ground.

Away from the large bodies of nequus, away from anyone who might see him, the hippogriff stayed fairly well hidden within the trees and though it hardly allowed any movement it was better than dealing with idiots. A flick of his stubby tail, a shuffle of his feathered wings, and the odd Jala took a glance around from where he stood among the shadows of the great tree that blocked out most of the sun for him.

However, it was neither rodent- which would serve as dinner- nor the hooves of an approaching nequus that caught his acute sense of hearing. Something odd, something off, something that sounded quite a bit like singing off in the distance. Well damn. Hooked muzzle turned around fully to look in that direction; for he had no means of being able to rotate his eyes like a normal nequus, and simply must turn his head in the direction to see what it was.

Yes, that was it, really it all made sense now that he thought about it. In order to get his revenge he would have to get that damned Judge. But how to do it? He flexed his wings a little and the sunlight gleamed off of his blades. Yes, there were his blades, though they would be odd for most others to wield, yet he had the hang of them. Just a simple trick really, a bend there, a flick there, and the deed was done.

These are my friends.
See how they glisten.
See this one shine...
How he smiles in the light.
My friend.
My faithful friend...
Speak to me friend.
Whisper...
I'll listen.
I know, I know you've been locked
out of sight
all these years, like me
My friend...
well I've come home to find you waiting.
Home, and we're together!
And we'll do wonders.
Won't we?
You there, my friend?

Oh yes, and they did talk to him, they talked of how they would drip precious rubies. Those rubies that belonged to the Judge. But where was he? Where was Judge Turpin? Oh if only he knew, but he had waited this long. Couldn't he wait a while longer? It wasn't as if the darkness could do anymore damage, it had already engulfed his heart. There was none of his original self left anymore, no that naive man was gone. In his place was the vengeful Sweeney Todd, and he would have his revenge!

Caught up within his thoughts he did not notice the Jala stallion that came near him. Would he have cared? Probably not. So long as the stallion did not know his secret he could live, for now. Though his blades needed some practice. However, he shouldn't go around killing anyone just yet, too much of a mess and he would probably bring too much attention to himself. He would be thrown out and have to make his way back again.

Sure, he could have waited where he was in the shadow of the great tree, but the hippogriff nequus had seen something glinting in the sunlight. He may have stepped out to get a better look, but he certainly didn't go near. Not to nequus, not the inner-demons of normal nequus with hearts as writhered as rotten fruit, or minds as unbending as an ignorant babe. Heh, that was the inner-demon, the curse upon the nequus race. He however, being a freak, was void of such feelings and demeanors. Sanue? He was an outer-demon. With sharp beak that could tear flesh from bone, and claws that dangerously clutched the living from moving out of range. Heh, but of course these were saved for those idiots who so deserved, or rather egged it on, such treatments.

As it was, the hawk-eyed stallion was able to get a better look at the Bae stallion as he came nearer, all the while muttering something under his breath that had caught his attention before. Words, music, something of the sort- Sanue didn't rightly care. What he did care to look at was the glimmering of the Bae's wings and the promise of death upon them. It was like nothing he had ever seen before.

Metallic, sharp, glimmering; it warned of harm as Ignacius' tail had done, and as his own clawed forelegs threatened with every step he cared to take. At the moment, Sanue was still, quiet, and not quite feeling out of place with this fellow as he would have done with a normal nequus. Had he the ears to do so, no doubt they would have been perked in interest rather than pinned back in disdain. But Sanue had no visable ears.

"Interesting glimmer of a wing", he managed in his quiet, carrying voice. For if the hippogriff spoke too loudly, his voice would be nothing but a eagle's screech.

Sweeneys ears immediately turned towards the voice. What kind of voice was that anyway? It wasn't anything like he had ever heard, something mixed with Nequus and eagle. Didn't seem quite right to him. Immediately he quit singing to himslef and turned to face the creature before him, and indeed it was a creature. Something half bird, half Jala. He wasn't quite sure what it was to tell the truth. As he examined the 'Jala' he saw no ears, there was a beak that belonged on a bird not a Jala, and he was covered in feathers. Interesting. Well he was rather suprising but only held his interest for a moment.

"Yes?" Mr. Todd asked. Sweeney rather hated to be interupted, it usually meant losing whatever train of thought he had, and this one had been a particularly bloody image of Judge Turpin... oh yes it was a rather nice image. However, it had been broken into tiny fragments by this interuption and had slowly drifted away. Perhaps he could regain it later, in a much more peaceful and quite area, one without any intruders to interupt him. "What do you want?" He snapped at the Jala.

Surely, at first he was a sight to behold, Bae as normal as could be, except for the glistening of metallic sheen on its wings. It reminded Sanue much of the jewelry he saw some Nequus wear, something around the name of 'metal'. He himself did not wear such a thing, for he would not travel to the humans or near them, not with the way he looked and the way he suspected they would react.

At first, as he was regarded by the smaller fellow, he merely kept his fierce olive eyes on the Bae before him, feeling it was a good choice to actually bring up a conversation for once with the first part. Now, Sanue hated company, absolutely dispised getting near others or sharing in their prejudice company; that of the inner-demon. It was different story for those with interesting-

An instant twitch of his clawed forelegs scraped at the ground underneath them, uprooting the frozen soil with ease. Inner-demon it was. A snapping of the voice before him begot an irratated quirk of his feathered head. "That metallic sheen, it caught my attention. Course I have reason to doubt you'd want to explain it", Leave now, his mind told him, before the inner-demon got on the wrong nerve. Though to be fair, it was his solitary space that had been interrupted by the passer-by.

Narrowing his eyes a little Sweeney studied the creature before him. It didn't seem as if he meant him any harm. At least, it didn't appear that he did, though it was quite apparent that those claws and that beak could do just as much damage as Sweeney's blades. "That 'metallic sheen' would be the blades on my wings. They are as much a part of me as that beak is of you. Want me to try and take them off? They won't budge an inch, believe me, I've tried. In any case there really isn't anything to explain about them, except that I shall be using them to gain my revenge. That, however, I will not explain to you, seeing as how it is not any of your business."

These are my friends.
See how they glisten.
See this one shine...
How he smiles in the light.

Ah yes the beautiful sound of music. Perhaps his singing could get his point across to this one? Not that it really mattered, he still wasn't quite sure why he had interupted his thoughts. "What is your name? You have yet to give it, and seeing as how you have interupted my thoughts I believe you owe me that much." He paused a moment, well eventually the Jala would be wanting his own name.

"Would I be correct in assuming you would be wanting my name? In any case it's Todd. Mr. Sweeney Todd. Used to be a different name... but that man is dead now."

In the silence the hippogriff waited with stiffening mood, he had little time for rudeness, and little mind to take it without rebuttle. However, as the moment past, and the other's voice returned- though without the sharpness of before- the Jala's own quieted thoughts returned. Sanue was a very subjective individual, often times changing opinions and moods on a whim depending on what tone or subject was thrown at him. In a way it was hardly a way to live at all, but in his anti-social noature he preferred it to being civil to those who may not deserve it.

At the explanation of of the metallic sheen, he quipped to extent his neck a little further, however not close enough to get into the other stallion's space. They were not that close to each other, after all. Indeed, olive hawk-eyes studied the blades, as they were called, and understood that they were as much attatched to the Bae as his own features were to him. However, it was the little tune that caught his attention the most, and which he bobbed his head to the end. Understood. "And I shall not inquire about it, the business is yours to keep and do with as you will. However, those 'blades' are very fasinating, and I would reckon quite the useful adornment." Yes, such things as built-in weapons were very useful.

The hippogriff did not allow himself to touch the subject of thoughts being interrupted, it would not do to get himself riled when he had just found something good to latch onto. Which wasn't often in his encounters. "Sanue would be my name, and that I shall grant for it is owed as you say. Its not often that something upon a Nequus grabs my attention." And that metallic sheen, had only been sighted because of the song of Mr. Sweeney. "Quite a flowing voice, rather, that drew it." And of course, to a bird of nature, it was the tune that had reached his sensitive ears.

The bae allowed a slight perk in his posture as he accepted the compliment. He had been told many times that his voice was rather nice, but it was always well accepted when another compliment was offered. He thought he should compliment the Jalla stallion, but wasn't quite sure what to say. Well, he supposed he could at least try. If anything it may upset the stallion but what the other felt, Sweeney did not particularly care. "Your, er, feathers are quite lovely." Okay so it sucked. In any case he had at least tried.

How long would this one be staying around? He had a murder to contemplate.. oh and his london, though how he would get back there he knew not.. perhaps again when he slept tonight. Yes, it seemed that London was only approachable in his dreams. Pitty really.. that his real life must be lived in dreams where no one else could join him, but perhaps tonight would be the night he got that damned Judge? Or maybe, as Mrs. Lovett had advised him, he ought to wait a little longer, try to win over the man's trust.

"I don't suppose you've ever been to London?" He asked the Jala. Even if the creature thought him a fool it really couldn't hurt to ask. Maybe if Sanue thought he was insane than he would at least leave him alone, no one wanted to stay around a mad man much.

(((quick note.. due to London not being part of the Nequus lands it technically does not exist and therefore is only known to Sweeney in his dreams.. his revenge, the judge, are all just dreams he has. Just thought I ought to clarify that.)))

The 'compliment' wasn't quite a response he thought he would be getting, by Mr. Sweeney, or rather by anyone at all. His beak, and his claws by Ignacius on how useful they were, but pretty feathers wasn't in the books for the hippogriff. However, he did give a bob of his head, whatever was meant by it, he at least showed he held no aggitation towards it.

"'Fraid I never heard of London." Then again, there were many places he had never been to in Urin, many such places he didn't quite bother to visit. He had heard of the mountains of red dust, and the mists of the other mountains, but they hardly interested Sanue. The beach was his home, and when he couldn't be there he often went to Yisi, and unfortunatly the over crowded D'ob valley. However, he was certain he wouldn't be staying long, only until the winter thawed further into the warm season. His sweet, sweet solitary beach would be waiting for him.

As it was though, he had gotten the information he needed, and his curiousity was quenched. Company, he found, he got tired of fairly easily. That, or it just became clearly uncomfortable for both parties most of the time. Though few occassions left him feeling right at home, after he had used his claws and beak on those who desereved it. This one however, seemed to be close to that odd point where conversation was no longer necissary, and if Sweeney had gone this way than no doubt others would be soon. It was time to find another solitary spot to spend the day.

"I do suppose you have things to do, as you have stated I interrupted earlier. As it is, I must part ways myself, for small critters fit for dinner are only out for what remains of the day." How the other would react to him eating meat, he didn't rightfully care, althought that last part had slipped out on accident.

The Bae stallion hardly noticed the others comment as to eating meat. Though it ought to have been odd enough to attract his attention. In any case he was begining to slip back into his dream world. Oh that damn Judge.. yes if he got ahold of him then tonight would be the night! That's what he got for stealing his beloved and his life, no, that was wrong, not his life. That life was not his, that life belonged to another man, a man that was dead now.

It took a few moments for Sweeney to realize that he was still in D'Ob and not in London and when he did he turned his attention back to the Jala. "Yes, I suppose I do have some things to do." He was still rather distant as he talked, images of the judge's blood upon his blades ran through his mind. Image after Image, sweet and beautiful plans. Oh! How he wished for another chance to exact his revenge. "I am quite sorry to hear that you must be going, but I do understand. There are those of us who have more important tasks to be doing than standing around talking. Perhaps we will meet again?" With that he turned around and began walking away at a slow and steady pace to find somewhere a bit more secluded.

There was a barber and his wife
and she was beautiful...
a foolish barber and his wife.
She was his reason for his life...
and she was beautiful, and she was virtuous.
And he was nieve...

"Perhaps." The word left his beaked muzzle as if on instinct, he had no particular desire to meet up with Sweeney again, but he was certain he wouldn't mind it either. Luckily, the meat-eating wasn't an issue, apparently, so 'perhaps' was a suitable word for the end of their discussion. He was quite hungry you see, and only such hunger could ever drive him into chasing after rodents and small critters fit for a good swallow.

Oh how he dispissed the texture of rodents and the like, the way they needed to be given a good crunch before you swallowed, so as they didn't bite and claw all the way down. That was never pleasant feeling for the hippogriff, both biting down of his own back teeth- for he had none in the front- and the clawing of a desperate creature to the back of his throat. Uncomfortable, and horrible horrible texture upon the tongue and the cheeks. Olive hawk-eyes watched momentairly as Sweeney disappeared in his slow pace, before Sanue himself extended his head and went truding forward at an easy jog through the line of trees. He would prefer to stay unnoticed by others, for there was hardly an encounter that went as smoothly as the one with Mr. Sweeney Todd.

And of course, as the hippogriff made his way through the valley, the fading voice of that song reached his sensitive ears. So much as to make him hum quietly to himself as he stalked a curious hole that mide hold his next meal. Although Sanue, was quite off the beat himself, and it soon transformed into its own little thing that went off in another direction.
