it practically broke my heart to see all of them, the one that really bothered me is that Mr. Poe never coughed!!! (doesn't he kind of resemble Peter Pettigrew from HP?)

Actually, when you first see Mr. Poe he did cough, but he didn't cough nearly enough.

They didn't even need to do that. All they had to do was tell the actor playing him, "Hey, this character, he's supposed to cough a bit."

the main things that bothered me were the fact that the wedding was at the end of the movie, violet didn't figure out stephano's plan and unlock the suitcase with her lockpick, and that they introduced VFD so early! and what was with the spyglasses???? eek stressed and they didn't put in the anxious clown restaurant! crying blaugh not that it was a big deal, but i love the little burger with the face and all the fries ina circle around it! xp xd

bluecelebi _Lord_Adventure_ Yeah...and they can't make a movie with the 4th book if Klaus doesn't have glasses. gonk Well, by looking at how badly they mutilated this movie it looks like they could. gonk Despite what they did get wrong, I still don't think they "mutilated" it. I think they did what you have to do to make a movie based on a book.
I mean, think about it. They have to make sure that people who HAVEN'T read the books will be entertained-because quite frankly, what's entertaining in a book may need something else to be entertaining on a screen. They have to make sure that people who HAVE read the books will like it. They have to keep it within a certain time frame, because it *is* geared towards kids, and you really can't make a four-hour kids' movie. And yeah, they have to make money-and anyone who's complaining about that, get the hell over it right now.
But considering ALL that-which yeah, they have to do to make money off of it-I think they did pretty good.
And as far as the ending goes, yeah, I wish they'd kept the original one. But you know, maybe they did try that at first and maybe they decided it DIDN'T flow right, and maybe they decided the marriage was a better ending. It might've been! I mean, back to the fact that they have to make sure people who haven't read the books will like it. They do have to consider that. And if they decided that the marriage needed to be at the end, then yeah, they'd have to add the train scene, because otherwise there wouldn't have been a good transition.
Then there's the VFD thing. Yes, I think they did too much, too soon, I'm a little angry about the spyglass and that window thing. But I do get why they introduced VFD so early. Because, let's admit it guys, the first four books are horribly repetitive. Orphans get a new guardian, Olaf shows up, only orphans recognize him, Olaf does something to guardian, orphans 'unmask' him, Olaf gets away. Yeah, that same thing three times over in one movie would've been just so terribly entertaining. So they added some of the mystery of VFD-too much, but, meh-which would also ensure that people would come to the next one.
...*deep breath* I'm done now.

I think they should have kept the idea that VFD members have the eye on their ankle instead of the spyglass, which by the way, the eye is completely wrong. It's supposed to be the VFD insignia no that crappy looks-like-it-was-hand-drawn eye. It would take much extra effort to draw the correct one.
