With a soft knicker, Alice found herself stepping softly into a clearing, the trees of the forest she lived in thinning out, making it easier for the delicately decorated Soquili to move. It was empty here... Which was more or less fine with the Unicorn, as she was used to being on her own. Not that she relished the feeling of being by herself, she thought with something of a frown, shaking her head lightly to try and dislodge such negative thoughts from her head, a light tinkling sound filling her ears from the silver metal that adorned her head Soft bronze eyes looked over the area again, noting that maybe she wasn't exactly alone. A bird chirped in the trees that surrounded the pretty area, and she was certain she had seen signs of some animals burrow off to the far side of the area. Alone was subjective, after all... Or so Alice told herself as she moved further into the clearing, trying to take solace in the simple, understated beauty of nature. She didn't mind being on her own- really, she didn't! But it did give the sweet-natured Soquili much time to brood and think...

With a great cheerful sigh, Allariana stepped into the small clearing. She could see small animals scurry away from her but it was officially spring now. That was all that mattered because this was her favorite time of the year. Birds chirping, young ones playing, she lived for the spring. Her soft pastel colors accented her delicate little butterfly wings. Allariana was much smaller then your average soquili, and even compared with other flutters, she was smaller then average.
The petite mare gazed around at the clearing radiating with positive energy. Tilting her head curiously, Allariana noticed another mare a way away from her. Smiling softly, the mare began to approach Alice. "Hello there!" She called out, her voice was soft and lyrical. Allariana gazed at Alice; the other mare was so pretty! The saddle looked strange but Allariana had seen other soquili with saddles before. Her clothing was also looked curious but it only made Alice seem more beautiful. Allariana couldn't help but envy Alice's beauty.

Alice lifted her head when she heard another enter her clearing. When was the last time she had seen another Soquili, let alone spoken to one? What if her voice didn't work, after not speaking for so long? What if she said the wrong thing, or... Or a lot of things. "H-hello," she murmured softly- perhaps too softly? Taking a few careful steps forward, the white and indigo mare murmured a soft greeting again, her eyes kind as she spoke. "I- I am Alice. It is nice to meet you," the Unicorn said softly, rather taken with the pretty pastel colors and diminutive stature. "What is your name...?" Oh, she hoped she didn't come across as rude and nosy, the decorated mare fretted, lowering her eyes a bit. But she was so starved for company... And the small mare before her seemed friendly enough, so hopefully this would prove to be a positive encounter.

Allariana observed the other mare curiously. The way she acted... Allariana had never met another soquili quite like this before. The little mare stopped a few feet away from Alice but she continued to smile. "I go by Allariana. It's quite the pleasure to meet you Alice." Allariana continued to smile radiantly and emit a very pleasant aura. "How are you on this fine almost-spring day?" On the inside, Allariana was ecstatic that she was able to say it was almost spring. During the winter, she really was almost dormant. She hardly ever left the teepee but that probably was wise on her part because she could easily be buried in snow if she wasn't careful. The flutter continued to observe Alice curiously because she didn't want to say or do the wrong thing. It had been so long since she had made a new friend...

It seemed that Allarianna's pleasent, positive aura was going a long way to soothing the Lolita mare's nerves. "Allariana," she said softly, as if testing the name out, finding that it left a sweet flavor in her mouth. "That is a very lovely name." The darkly decorated Soquili was rather small as well, but Allanriana was even tinier than she was! But she emitted such a cheerful aura, and seemed so sure of herself that Alice almost forgot about how small she appeared until she looked at her again. "It... It is a pleasure to meet you," she said softly, putting as much genuine emotion into the words as she could, because it truly was a pleasure to meet the happy little Flutter, for Alice. Today... Today would be a good day. "Ah, yes, you are right... It is nearly spring, isn't it? "Thank goodness... Cold weather does not exactly agree with me," the young unicorn said with a soft laugh. "And I imagine you less so. Lovely butterflies are much more suited for the warm and pretty weather of summer, don't you agree?"

"Aw, you're too kind in giving me compliments that I hardly deserve. Alice is such a beautiful name too, so pure and eloquent." Allariana managed to smile even bigger as she spoke. She really wasn't used to being complimented like that but she was so flattered when she was. "It is! You can already see the flower buds beginning to pop out of the ground. I just can't wait until the air is filled with the aroma of all sorts of flowers. Do you have a favorite flower?" She laughed musically as Alice spoke about butterflies and warmer weather, "Yes, I must agree with that. I love the feeling of the sun's warmth on my back. And I love watching all of the real butterflies flutter between flowers. I wish I could be that elegant..." The little mare spoke enthusiastically and happily knowing that Alice seemed more comfortable now.

Alice smiled softly, closing her eyes for a moment to think of the lovely colors and smells and sights that spring and summer brought. Especially spring, when all the trees would bloom, and the flowers would sprout up and spread their petals for all the admire. There were quite a few flowers of spring she liked that matched the colors of the Flutter mare she was speaking with now. So light and airy... Where as her own colors, while striking, were much more dark... nearly sinister sometimes, since the night sky could take on a violet hue if the moon was shining just right, and night could get scary... Alice vastly preferred the sun and the day. "I'm sure you're just as elegant as they are, Allariana," Alice quickly assured her new-found friend, nodding her head. "You're so small, I bet you can fly just as well as they can," she added, looking to the filmy, delicate wings that graced the back of the friendly mare.

Allariana was imagining those flowers now. They were all so beautiful, she could feel their aromas invading her sense of smell, now. The mare opened her eyes and looked again at the soquili in front of her. Even though Alice seemed on the opposite side of the spectrum then Allariana was, there was just something about her... something very pure.
The little soquili giggled once more as Alice complimented her. "Again, I can only dream." She smiled widely as Alice spoke about flying alongside them. "You really flatter me too much, you know that Alice?" She giggled once more and continued, "I don't deserve half of the compliments you're giving me. I don't fly very well because I really prefer taking life slowly. There's nothing like walking through a green meadow, feeling the long grasses against your body and the sun on your back." Her voice was rather dreamy right now as she imagined everything she was talking about.
"So, Alice. Do you mind if I ask if you have any family?" Allariana knew that she could be treading on unstable ground but she might as well ask now as the question would come up sooner or later anyway.

"Flattery? From me? Never," Alice insisted with a soft laugh, shaking her head, the silver chain connecting her horn to her crown tinkling gently. "I speak the truth. I have no reason to flatter." She smiled, and pawed at the ground a little, finding herself so happy that she needed to move a little, just to let some of the feeling out. She hadn't had someone to talk to in such a long time, it felt... Halting her train of thought to listen to her new found friend speak again, the mare slowly shook her head, eyes lowering to the ground. "Not... not that I am aware of. As far back as I can remember, I've always been alone. I... I am sure I have parents somewhere, of course. I just... am not sure where they are." She laughed again, though it lacked the mirth and good humor of her previous laughter. "Ah... And you, Allariana? Do you have family and friends to return to after our chance meeting?" Perhaps, if she did... Alice would be permitted to come along and meet them! That would be oh so nice... Even if they weren't her own family, it would be wonderful to be around family of any sort... Assuming that Allariana wouldn't mind, of course. And assuming she did have family. Alice hoped so, for Allariana's sake. Such a sweet mare should not have been forced to grow alone.

The little mare couldn't help but smile when Alice spoke. "If you insist." Allariana grinned once more feeling even more cheerful then before. But she could tell that she shouldn't have mentioned family. She watched Alice curiously hoping that her question wouldn't ruin the current joyful mood. "Alone?" Allariana frowned unhappily, "You could have easily joined my family..." She felt sad that she hadn't met Alice sooner... Then maybe Alice wouldn't have been alone for so long.
She paused and chose her words carefully before answering. "Yes I do. A family at least... I'm so old now." Allariana reminisced and chuckled fondly. "I'm a grandmother actually." The flutter grinned hoping to turn the mood around. She watched Alice's expression curiously wondering how she would take the fact that Allariana was actually older then she acted and looked. She thought about her children and her little grandchildren. She had heard that Boo just had foals of his own so that's another 3 kids to add to the family line. It felt so strange to see little carbon copies of her children.

"Grandchildren!" Alice exclaimed in surprise, a soft laugh coming from her has she looked over her new-found friend. She certainly didn't look old enough to have grandchildren! She must have been a wonderful mother, though, the mare thought with a smile. And a wonderful grandmother as well, she was sure! "I would love to meet your family sometime, Allariana, I truly would. With someone so kind and sweet as you for a mother and grandmother, I'm sure they must all be wonderful to be around." If Allariana was willing to share her family, as it were, then Alice would have to do all she could to help return the gift. She didn't have much to offer aside from her company, but it seemed the pastel colored mare enjoyed that well enough, so hopefully her friendship would be a sufficient return. Family was such a powerful word... It would be nice to be around a family, even if it was not her own.

Allariana giggled at Alice's reaction to her being a grandmother. She perked up at the thought of Alice meeting her family. That would be so nice, to have her family meet Alice. She knew that they would be thrilled to make a new friend. "Again, you give me too much credit. My kids are amazing though. I would love to have you come and meet them." She paused thinking about where her children might be wandering right now.
"How about we go look for them now? I don't know if I'll be able to find the entire family especially my children but I know where my son-in-law and grandchildren are." She gave a huge smile when she thought about little Everhart. He had a soft spot in her heart; he was so conflicted and she tried to help him as much as possible. Allariana looked at Alice hopefully, hoping that this wasn't too last minute or anything.
