Lucius had chosen Severus Snape as his second for this occasion. Naturally, the man was his best friend, after all. He gave him the location at which the duel was to be held, and he knew Snape would not be late.
He dressed himself carefully in a black cloak over his black garb - although the lace at his throat and cuffs was a delicate white. He made sure his hair shone a brilliant platinum. He apparated from the Manor to the field of honour, leaving a brief note to Narcissa that he had business to attend to. No need to worry the little woman after all, eh?
He looked about for Severus, even as he straightened his cuffs once more.

Remus couldn't believe that Lucius finally got the nerve to meet him for the duel. He was dressed casually, he didn't need fancy clothes to show that he was the better duellist.
He had picked Sirius to be his second, like he would pick anyone else. "Ready to beat Malfoy?"

Narcissa read the note and shook her head "Men" she muttered under her breath when she got her warm winter cloak and made her way to the field. She would be there, not because she liked duels very much but because she had to make sure her husband was not going to do something stupid.

Lucius was only a little surprised to see his wife arrive - after all she was keeping a much closer eye on him these days, which could be rather disconcerting at times. He composed himself, placed a warm smile upon his face, as she neared him. "Good morning, my love," he greeted her, "I hope I did not wake you so early in the morning?"

"Ready," SIrius said confidently, although truth be told he was a little nervous - not that Lucius could outduel his lover, but that Remus might accidentally be hurt in the process. He glanced over to the opponent, seeing that he had now been joined by his wife. "I didn't know Cissa was coming," he commented to Remus.

Remus looked in the direction of Lucius and spotted Narcissa, "No... I thought he was bringing Severus." He wondered why she was there and more importantly why Lucius seemed a little ill at ease. "Do you think he didn't know she would be there either?"

"You didn't wake me, Lucius." Narcissa looked around and shook her head for the second time that morning. "What is all this about?" She asked wondering if it was a good reason or just a simple thing of male ego.

"Nothing to concern you with, my dear," he reassured her, "I have decided to teach this braggart a lesson. I am tired of he and your cousin mouthing off, the vulgar things. Breeding does show, after all, and it's time I showed their lack thereof. I completely understand if you have no desire to stay and watch...."

"He probably snuck out of the house," Sirius agreed, "maybe he was expecting to meet one of his girlfriends?" He shook his head, wondering why his cousin had to be married to such a git.

Severus Snape was getting ready to meet with Lucius for the duel.
He was late. Miss Granger had somehow found out about the duel between his friend and Luping and tried to persuaid him not to go.
But Lucius counted on him and besides, it was time does idiots Lupin and Black were taken down a peg or two...

"Severus is here, excellent," Lucius nodded with satisfaction, "perhaps you would like to return to the Manor, my love, to be out of harm's way?" He patted his wife's arm solicitously.

Narcissa looked over to Severus and she was a little bit disappointed she always thought that the dark-haired potions master was a more sensible then this. She turned to her husband, "No, I won't leave, Lucius." She was a stubborn woman and would not be sent home this easily.

Remus watched the Malfoys and Severus for a few moments. "Maybe she just doesn't approve of duels." He usually wasn't a fighter himself but Lucius was so infuriating at times.
