Mbari was doing alright, he supposed. Having been making an attempt to meet others, he had now rather given up. His mind was blank, which was better than worrying, and his topaz eyes drifted from a nearby tree to the cracked earth. The male yawned slowly, his body stretched out on the hot ground, partly covered by the shadow cast from a tree. Maybe he'd meet someone else today to take his mind off things. Perhaps.
But how was mother? She seemed pretty heartbroken at their last meeting, and he hoped father would return soon. Maybe he should find his mother again. He was very close and protective of his family, and since growing older had lost his stutter, though was still jumpy around strangers, there was a definate improvement. Lying in the sun, he decided to give up for now, a nap couldn't hurt, could it? He worried again.

For a change of pace, Tufani had decided to wander about the Pridelands in the middle of the day. She had hoped to meet some more of her grandchildren, but had so far not found any of them. Cubs would be cubs, after all...Tufani trusted in her children's ability to raise their cubs to be good lions, and left well enough alone.
Of course, Tufani did not trust in her ability to wander through the Pridelands during the day without some sort of a break; her pelt was too dark for that. That tree over there looked like it had some nice shade, though. With that thought in mind, she began to wander toward shade and an escape from the African heat.

A striking figure approached the tree, a pelt of black with amazing white streaks as if lightning had hit the lioness. He had not seen her about the Pridelands before, and wondered if she was simply a rogue passing through the lands, still, he was intruiged and his mind was lifted off his worries for a moment.
He did not mind sharing the shade with the female, as it was hot in the middle of the day, and he knew that her pelt would be taking a toll on her temperature, so he shifted aside for her arrival politely. What would the female think of him? His paranoia kicked in. Where was mother. Maybe she could save him? Nono, he was too old for this. He had to act his age. Bravely, he stood up to greet the lioness. "H-hello!"

Tufani nearly stumbled in her tracks at the sound of another's voice. She hadn't been expecting anyone around this area, though in retrospect that was a silly notion. It was the middle of the day in the heavily-populated Pridelands, and this was the first bit of shade she'd seen in a while. Of course another lion would take advantage of it...
"Oh, hello!" she chimed politely as she found a good place to sit. "I hope you don't mind if I borrow some of your shade. My name is Tufani; may I ask yours?"
Truth be told, the black lioness felt slightly guilty for not knowing the names of the majority of her fellow Pridelanders. If she had known, she could easily pick out the Pridelander males from the less trustworthy rogue males...

He jumped slightly at her friendly reply, but was happy. He was paranoid sometimes that other lions wouldn't be so happy to see him or that they'd be mean or something. Most pridelanders seemed friendly and his family had often told him that he had nothing to fear. He gave a tiny groan, his family... He missed mother, he would go and find her soon... He hoped she was doing okay. He hadn't really left her side since she'd got back.
He replied to the female, topaz eyes gliding over her nervously. "O-of course not! With your dark pelt, the sun must be terrible sometimes." Mbari said sympathetically. "Why, erm, hello then, Tufani." He hoped he wouldn't mess this up, he liked conversation with decent lions. "My name is Mbari." He nodded. "Son of Maawio, you may have heard of her." He knew mother had been here since birth, known Mufasa and Sarabi, and been in the pride when the numbers were much much lower than they were now.

"A pleasure to meet you, Mbari," she said as she sat down in the shade. How much better it felt here than even a few paces away from the shade! Plus, she was meeting more members of the pride, if his mention of parentage was any indication. "I believe I may have heard of your mother, though we have never met to my knowledge. The pride is growing so much bigger, though, it's hard to keep track sometimes," the black lioness said, starting to laugh. "And I thought the Pridelands population was huge when I was just a cub giving up her rogue life. It turns out I was wrong..."

"I-its nice to meet you too." He nodded sweetly. "I see, well, she's still around I think." A worried thought crossed his mind but he dismissed it. As Kamba always said, there was no point worrying about EVERYTHING. Where was his little bird friend, anyway? He worried again and then shook his head gently. "Yes, it is a large pride." As he learnt she was a rogue, he thought back to father and smiled sadly. "So you were a rogue then? Like my father." He gave a quick nod. He sometimes forgot the amount of rogues that were allowed into the Pridelands, for he didn't know the pride that well himself.

"Like many fathers these days," Tufani said, sighing softly. She still felt guilty about her children not finding a fatherly influence when they were younger, and it worried her sometimes when they were younger that her boys would turn out badly as a result. Yet it was a silly worry; she had faith in her sons and daughters as they grew into adults. "But I consider myself more Pridelander than anything else. My adoptive mother found me on the borders of the Pridelands when I was still quite young, and I've almost completely forgotten everything about being a rogue. The only thing that gives me away these days is my coat."

He laughed gently again, a mere rumble in his throat. He probably appeared nervous to the female, but hopefully she wasn't mean enough to taunt him about it. She certainly didn't seem mean to Mbari. He admitted she did not have a typical Pridelands coat, but he found it to be visually amazing and like nothing he'd seen before. A black canvas tainted with lightning, the only way to describe such a pelt. Mother said it was always sweet to compliment a lady, so Mbari smiled and said; "I think your coat is w-wonderful, if you don't mind me saying." He blushed underneath his golden fur.
He turned his head this way and that, and could feel the anxiety building up in his stomach. He smiled and shuffled his feet. "I'm sorry. I have to go."
He would get over his nerves one day, but not today.
