He hardly ever stopped. Mainly because his domain did not really sleep. Famine didn't go to bed just because the sun had gone down and this evening the ragged, bone thin god travelled the lands silently. The pull of starvation dragged him accross the dry lands, he could feel them calling to him, asking him to help them and all he could do was pick up his paws and follow their yells of pain. Shadowey grey eyes lifted to look over the lands as he continued onwards his mind on one thing and one thing alone, his job.

Slowly, a winged lioness trailed behind the raggly God, the great Jaddis. Even though his eyes were stone cold, she still seemed to keep a smile wide on her maw as she playfully chased after him like some hyped up young cub. Kenzi was more happy than ever, and full of energy. More than most of her days, at least. After all, the duties of Famine was mostly the same every day, and it wasn't always the most awesome thing to watch. She still kept herself smirking and content through the lands as they waded through them.

"Hmm, I know your job is never left undone, but when will you ever take a rest, Jaddis?" She folded her ears back as she approached him. "I mean ... it doesn't hurt to take a break, you know? The famine will still be waiting for you, no matter how long you wait." She folded her wings in and purred as she slipped past the male, her fur brushing past him.

"After all, every great God needs to relax every now and then."

Jaddis' head did not turn as the female brushed past him, trusth was he was set on the goal at hand and to let himself feel when he was just travelling along with his hyperactive 'servant' was foolish.

"You know I cannot rest Kenzi." he let out a slow ragged breath his body shaking with the pressure of it as he did so. "Famine does not wait little goddess, if I let those whom are suffering go unchecked what sort of god am I? I constantly move forwards Kenzi because that is my job and if I do not do it who will?"

The great ragged head shook as if in exhasperation of the situation. "I cannot rest, there are creatures out there whom need to see me before they go and I cannot deny them that."

"But, Jaddis ..." Her ears folded back with a sad look in her eyes. Kenzi sighed heavily, and then followed back over to the raggly god slowly. "I know your duty is Famine, but it doesn't hurt to just lay down for a few moments and take in your surroundings. You'll be happy for the rest of eternity by doing the dirty work of the mortals?" She quirked a brow and then looked to the horizon.

"A God has the power to make his own decisions; to go outside his duties and domain ... and do what he pleases."

Jaddis' dark, stoney eyes turned to stare at the little goddess, his paws still for the first time all day, he shook his head, a thing that didn't often happen, reactions for him were always limited.

"No Kenzi, I do not do the work of mortals, I do the work of the land and to rest for a moment and let mortals suffer, it is not my place to do that." he paused and started to walk once more his head bowing low "I serve them, that is who, is what I am Kenzi, you would be well to mind it." He let out a slow unnerving breath then, he was required on this earth, if he stopped to do as he pleased, as the carefree little goddess would, he would probably die, cease to exsist, it was a chance he didn't wnat to take, for a cursed life though it seemed, it was still his life.

"Fair enough, Jaddis. But, soon ... i'll find a way to add some more excitement into your life, and then you'll thank me for all eternity." Grinning widely, the little brown goddess leaped playfully over to Jaddis' side and awaited to see what would happen next. Even though, she already had an idea.

"Least your helping them pass over less painfully. I guess I shouldn't take you fully away from your duties."

Jaddis' voice laughed lightly in the little goddesses ears and his head shook from side toi side, slowly, almost painfully. "I cannot leave my dueties Kenzi, they are too important." He took in a slow breath then his steps slow and meaningful, it was a single cry he could hear today and one of the most painful he had heard for a long time. he doubted this one would rejoin the land of the living.

"You make it more bareable to travel kenzi being beside me. It is nice, to have a friend." His voice whispered, "It has been a long time, since I had soemone beside me, whom did not flinch at my words."

"You'll just have to wait and find out whats in store, Jaddis. She purred, rubbing against the god." At the sound of the cry, she knew what would happen now. And she would follow him until they reached the voice, and aided it. While Kenzi couldn't exactly help him out, it still was nice to keep him company.

"I'm glad I do, master. Its nice to have a friend in return, as well."

Jaddis shook his boney head and a slight smile graced his lips, lukily not enough for his lips to start bleeding as they closed slowly upon the pained animal laying under some shrubbery.

Jaddis' eyes once again became brown, kind almost, he caught the gaze of the other animal and it cried no more, although it lived, the pain was gone. Jaddis shuddered and turned away. The god of death would arrive soon, or the poor beast would struggle onwards and come to the rhealm of a god of the living. Either way his job was done. he quietly wished the creature well, before slowly starting to pad away.

"I hear their screams constantly Kenzi, I could not turn my back on them for even a moment."

"I understand, Jaddis. ... but, somethings will grab your attention just as much. Like I said; soon you'll see." She watched him at his work, taking care of the creature that had cried. Soon, he would pass on to a better purpose in his afterlife, she hoped.

She followed beside Jaddis as he walked away from the suffering being. And it was just that. She did hope that someday they would be more than just friends. She already felt like he was more than just a friend. While she couldn't bare his children before, she figured it was worth another shot. She did want to please the God very much so and bless him with new twisted life.

Jaddis turned his gaze on her for a moment. It seemed he often turned his attention upon her these days, she was always beside him so it wasn't really that surprising that he turned his eyes on her. It was strange though that his body should react to her.

"Yes. I suppose you are right Kenzi, there are thingsin this world that may distract my attention. I have a few friends in the world whom, do not run or hide from me. They take a moment of my time but I cqannot be held still. The cries would turn me mad if I ignored them"

His voice sighed upon the wind then as he stepped in to the cool shade of a small grove. He paused and sat, for although there were cries in his ears, they were quieter now the creature behind them was quietened. "I have a short time before I must move on kenzi. rest, sleep, do as you please, but we cannot dally long."

"Alright. I'm sorry, Jaddis." She bowed and then came close to his side as she cuddled up against him. She could nap now, and then have fun when she woke up! It'd be a blast! Or, in her crazy mind it would.

She was thankful when Jaddis offered to let her take a break and rest. Simply following him was still a lot of work. While she didn't mind what he did, she was still smaller than most gods and all the flying easily took a toll on her fragile body. "You know, you can always go do your job without me. I'll gladly stay here and wait for you to return. I don't want famished rouges to suffer because of me."

Jaddis looked to Kenzi for a moment, considering his options. No, he didn't need to move on, not yet any way. He settled down slowly his joints creaking and complaining as he did so. "It is quiet for the moment Kenzi, we can rest for a while"

Settling his cold, bone thin body next to the little goddess his head slowly went down to his paws his dark, stone dead eyes closing. He'd had enough of this conversation for now. He would soon be needed again so he needed his rest.

"Sleep now. We will speak more later." His voice echoes as the ragged gods body lets out a slow, dying breath then goes still. Sleep was a time not to worry about breathing and other such trivial things.

"Okay, then. Have a nice nap!" She purred and curled up in a circle beside Jaddis. She loved taking little naps, it made her even more perky and ready to have fun once she woke up. She was very glad that he decided to settle down beside her for now, instead of roaming off. It made her even more happier.
