November walked through a field, enjoying the feel of the tall grass brushing her legs and belly. She couldn't take many walks anymore, because she was often too tired, but she did love getting out when she could. She hadn't anticipated how hard her pregnancy would be, and the thought of giving birth frightened her still. So, she sometimes left her mate and went for a walk to just think about things. She had walked for a while, and had to stop and rest, so she curled up in the grass. The grass was tall enough to cover her completely, hiding her from other Soquili that may have been about.

It felt wonderful outside, Seralin noted, with a happy look about the field she'd ventured to.
Trotting out into the tall grass, Sera lavished the feeling of the cool, promising, spring wind, which picked up her braids and tosled them about. It wasn't untill she stopped, and the wind picked up the scent of another, that Sera grow consious of another's presence.

Ears perked, she looked around, taking cautious steps.
"Hello?" she called out, unsure if maybe she was just imagining things.

November's ears pricked up when she heard a voice. She stood up with some difficulty,as her belly was very swollen, and looked over to see who it was. She saw a brown mare that she'd never met before, and walked over to say hello. "Hi there. I'm sorry if I startled you, I was just taking a short rest in the grass." November smiled, being her ever-friendly self.

Not expecting anyone to be laying down, the sudden appearance to the pregnate mare made Sera take a few steps back.
"Oh!" Shera chuckled. "Not at all! I hadn't seen anyone out here, and when the wind picked up your scent..." Seralin explained, with a warm smile.

Tilting her head at November's large belly, Sera gave another gentle chuckle. "I can see why you would need to rest! Looks like quite the load there! My best wishes for you and your children!"

Sera loved children,. two legger and soquili alike. Of course, there weren't many adult soquli in her two-legged companion's isolated village -- young foals were usually traded to neighboring tribes. Sera was the unofficial foal-sitter though, so it stood to reason that she would love them.

November chuckled softly. "That's perfectly understandable, my dear." she said, smiling. November was already becoming fond of this mare, she seemed so innocent and sweet.

"Thank you," she said happily, "I get so tired so easily now, it seems," she smiled wryly, "But I suppose that is to be expected." November winced as one of the foals kicked. "They're so strong..." she said, her voice gentle. "I believe they will be fine young foals, indeed."

Looking up at Sera, she said, "I don't think we've been properly introduced. My name is November. What's yours?"

"Sleep now, cause they get worse when thier out and about!" Sera giggled.
She'd never had foals of her own, but deffinately enough experience keeping track of the roudy little things!

"Oh, My name is Seralin. You may call me Sera, though. It's nice to meet you, November!' Sera nodded, with a bright smile.
Sera's innocence was perhaps a testament to her youth, and the company she kept. Being optomistic and kind was almost a requirement for watching young ones! this year though, there had been a lul in births at the village, and few young ones to watch. this afforded sera time out like this -- to make friends her own age. Though, remembering Judecca, the young wind soquili she had met on her mountain adventure, it seemed even when out and about, she was bound to come across young ones in some shape or form.

November laughed. "Yes, that's what everyone keeps telling me!" She nosed her belly lovingly. "But I don't think I'll mind too much." November had been surprised at how motherly she felt about her foals. She had wanted children, but she had no idea that she would love her babies this much.

"It's good to meet you Sera." November smiled at her warmly. "Sera, you seem to have had a lot of experience with foals." November said curiously. "These are my first..." she said, pointing at her belly with her nose, "and I'm not quite sure what to expect. I'm actually wondering if I'll be a good mother...What if I do something wrong?" These were the root of November's worries. She was so concerned about the foals, she wanted them to have the best life possible.

"Just keep your chin up, and be strong! You have to be optomistic! Young one's know when something is wrong, so the best thing to do is keep a smile on your face, and everythign will be alright!" Sera gave a bright smile.
"They understand more than we think they do,." Sera layed down, and motioned for November to do the same -- she would never keep a mother standing long. that just didn't seem like it'd be anything too pleasant.
"Honesty is the best policy -- you can't viel them from the world forever. Just make sure that they know that no matter what hardships, there is always a guiding light." She finished with a nod.

Then, with another reassuring smile, she added. "I am sure you will be a wonderful mother."

November listened to everything that Sera had said, and, though still a bit apprehensive, she felt much better.
"Thank you, Sera. I appreciate that..." she smiled back at Sera, laying down beside her.
"I'm due any day now," she explained, "and I've been doubting my own abilities as a mother. But I realize now that it's foolish for me to do that. It doesn't help anything."

She smiled at Sera. "Thank you...that means a lot." November thought for a minute, digesting what she had been told. "Sera, now you know a bit about me, so let's talk about you. Where do you live?"
PostPosted: Sat Feb 16, 2008 11:35 am

"Not a problem." Sera shook her head pleasantly.

"Me? I live in the human village, just past the valley, at the base of the mountain not far from here. I babysit the foals that our village trades to other tribes, but this previous year luck didn't shine down on our village-" Probably because the Old Mothers were becoming just that -- old, and unable to bear many more healthy foals.
"So, I'm sort of out of a job, with no one to watch. But, it has afforded me time to venture out! You miss alot,..all cooped up in a little village like that." she explained, though Sera wouldn't have traded it for the world.

November listened with interest as Sera told her story. "I imagine so... I've never lived with the two-leggers. I live in a teepee in the forest with my mate. I bet it's very interesting to live with them. They seem a little odd to me." November wondered what it would be like to live in a human village. "I suppose you won't be out of a job for too long. Those foals are gonna grow up and have foals of their own eventually."

November smiled at Sera, and said, "You know, if you ever begin to miss seeing little foals, you could come see ours when they're born. It would be good for them." November grinned. "And then Spotty and I would get some alone time."

"Oh, they have thier wierd moments, but it's entertaining to watch, much of the time." Sera nodded, remembering a time or two when some of the village boys had tried courting Macawi-Senna. she might not have understood what was said, but it had been an amusing display!

Sera giggled. "Sounds like a plan! Anytime you need a foal-sitter, just let me know!" She smiled brightly.
It would be wonderful to get back to foal-sitting, despite how much she was enjoying making new friends.

"Humans are so funny," November agreed, "I should come visit you sometime and see them."

November laughed. "A plan it is, then!" It would be wonderful if they could get a foal-sitter sometimes. She knew that she and Spotty would need some time away from the babies to keep their sanity. However, she knew that there wouldn't be very many of those times, or so she hoped.

November was very glad to have met Sera. Sera was so kind to her, and it was refreshing to get rid of her worries for the time being. She smiled wistfully, thinking about her foals, and wondering what they would be like.

Seralin nodded. Sh eknew none of the villagers would ever take a 'wild' horse into thier custody, so 'visitors' were welcome. Infact, it made quite a stirr in the village, and one would think they had never seen a horse before!

"Pleased to be of service!" the chocolate mare nodded.
Sera was pleased to have this new friendship! Aside from the yound winged foal that she doubted she'd ever see again, she hadn't really met anyone that she had become friends with,..and what was the point of 'adventures' if one didn't make a few friends along the way?

"I am very pleased to have met you! I'm sure this is just the begining of a wonderful friendship! I wish you and your mate the best!"

November grinned. "I'm happy to have met you, too, and thank you for that! I think I'll come see you after the foals are born, so they can see what a human village looks like. And I'm sure the humans will fuss over them. They love anything that's cute and fuzzy." November laughed. She was actually starting to look forward to seeing the village. She wondered if her mate would accompany her. November wanted Spotty to meet Sera, he'd like her too, and it was important for him to get to know someone who could be foal-sitting their kids.
