This is the 'how to date a' thread. Astrology books often have a 'how to date a' section, but these may be limited by the fact that they are usually written by one person of one sign. I thought it would be a good idea to get a thread going where anyone can offer advice on how to date a person of their own sign.
These accounts will necessarily be influenced by people's other placings, but it should be possible to get to the core of what each sign seeks as more people post - so, even if someone has already responded for your sign, feel free to give your own version, too.

idea Aquarius may be afraid/wary of romance, particularly if it’s (to their mind) too strong and/or too soon.
idea Aquarius is the sign of friendship – they really value friends, and may prefer a companionship-style relationship rather than an overtly romantic one, at least at first. So, be their friend.
idea Aquarius values mental connection at least as much as, if not more than, other forms of chemistry. Without a strong mental connection, Aquarius will likely not be interested at all. So, communicate, and be interesting – you will catch Aquarius’ attention if you offer insights or perspectives that either A) Aquarius themself has not thought of, or B) Aquarius has thought of but which are not straight-forward/common, in which case Aquarius will respect your reaching the same conclusion.
idea Be a source of information – Aquarius loves information. Aquarius respects people with interesting interests (i.e. things Aquarius deems interesting – this does not necessarily mean the same interests as Aquarius, but rather, interests s/he thinks worthwhile. Likely: any form of science; anything esoteric/uncommon. Unlikely: anything ‘mainstream’. Mainstream interests will likely be deemed boring and will turn Aquarius away. This is not to say you can't have them, but having a non-mainstream interest or two as well will definitely be a bonus.)
idea Aquarius likes morality, and will be attracted to people with causes (work done for charities, vegetarianism, environmentalism, etc).
idea Do not try to restrict Aquarius. Aquarius knows themself and their own interests, and any attempt at subverting this will turn Aquarius off you very, very quickly.
idea Do not be emotionally complicated. Aquarius prefers simplicity (Aquarius is probably emotionally stunted, or at the very least made uncomfortable by emotions). The mind is where Aquarius wants complexity.
idea If at all possible, be logical in arguments. Aquarius is rational and nothing will frustrate them more than having to deal with a blatantly irrational argument. This is also to your benefit - by using logic and showing any irrationality in Aquarius' own position, you might just shame him/her into seeing your side.
In summary: Be their friend, be interesting, intriguing and different, and give them their freedom.

How to date a Capricorn female:
1. Don't drop hints. We don't have time for that nonsense - just tell us already! Be honest. If you want to keep secrets though, that's fine. Capricorns have secrets of their own wink
2. Be loyal. Capricorn females are fiercely loyal, and we only expect this one thing from the other person in return. 3nodding
3. R-E-S-P-E-C-T. Remember, Capricorn females are like old women, and we expect to be treated with the dignity and respect that comes with being the wise women we are. talk2hand
4. Patience is a virtue. We are extremely patient with you, and naturally we expect the same for ourselves from you. domokun

I think that's about it... we don't require much, as most of what I put here fall under the "reciprocation" category and is therefore redundant. I just wanted you to get the idea... If I think of anything else, I'll post it.

Heh...my sister is a Capricorn. She's a bossy little biatch. She's 8, lol.
And, that's so true for aquarians, I've dated 2 of them, and my dad and sister are aquarians. My sister isn't as hardcore as you though Fogwolf, she takes to the mainstream alot more, and really doesn't like things that are "different". Either that or it's just me. I get along pretty well with the rest of em though.
Ok then, how to date a (female) Libra: 3nodding
1. Treat us like ladies. Chivalry isn't dead. If you hope to hit a home run you better buy us flowers, open doors, pull out chairs, and defend our honor. hehe
2. We can run at almost anyone's pace in a relationship, fast or slow, we can handle it. Compromise is our forte.
3. We LOVE romance. The quickest way to a Libra's heart is to sweep her off her feet. Flowers, candles, serenading, etc.
4. You have to know how to flirt. Librans will get bored with people who don't flirt with them. We love to play, be it innocent or naughty.
5. We are sophisticated and like people who are sophisticated. Not to say you can't be fun and act a bit foolish, just act your age and not like a 12 year-old. Bathroom humor is not welcome with us. xp
6. The most important rule...we have a lot of respect for ourselves, DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE TREAT US LIKE WHORES. Flirty does not equal slutty. And no, we will not live up to your porn star dreams you pervs. NO HORN DOGS. evil

I forgot to add something along these lines in mine, because I pretty much take it for granted as necessary in any relationship that can be called 'good' in any way. But this absolutely goes for aquarius too.

How to date a saggitarian female:
1. Be initially louder, more active and more interesting in a group than we are - we notice that you and the people around you are having an awesome time and we wanna know who the hell that is so we can have more fun too!
2. Don't, under any circumstances, tell us what to do.
3. Have interesting ideas/areas of knowledge that we don't know anything about but we can pick your brain about/discuss
4. Don't be afraid of debate, we're up there with Aries and Aquarius when it comes to debating/arguing ideas
5. Accept that we have other interests etc. apart from you and you shouldn't have a monopoly on our time. It doesn't mean we don't like/love you, it's just that we like being with other people too.
6. Don't be judgemental or closed minded, we'll probably dislike you on the spot
7. Surprise us, keep us guessing and be spontaneous - we love random 'jump in the car don't tell us where we're going and dash off randomly for a picnic etc.'. Flowers and romantic gestures are nice but fun spontaneous dates/stuff we can do with you as an adventure are better
8. Accept that we're not big on deep meaningful relationship crap - when you're talking about 'us' or 'where we're going' or 'I've been talking to my ex' then we're either going to a) literally walk away from the conversation b) change the topic and ignore it was ever brought up OR if it happens often enough c) leave the relationship entirely, it's not that we don't like being with people/working together, we just don't want to deal with the negative crap
9. Don't try and rule the relationship, we like our partner to be like our best friend - note the equal power status, you try to rule us/tell us what to do and we'll leave
10. Note that we're pretty ruthless, we're awesome too, but if we're bored/finding you too difficult or controlling we will generally just leave rather than try and deal with it/work it out

How to date a Pisces Female (may not be totally correct because I have a lot of Aqurius influence:
1. Don't go bragging about how great you are. Just because we don't stop you from talking about yourself doesn't mean we like it.
2. Don't be afraid to show emotion. That doesn't mean to start crying every time you see a sad movie, but at least show enough to show you're human.
3. Don't constantly critize or complain. I dunno about other people, but I like someone who realizes some things in the universe can't be changed.
4. Writing poetry or writing love songs is really romantic. If you write your Pisces gal something she'll like it.
5. Get involved in something. Working at like a pet shelter or something is really sweet. And if you're like a vegitarrian that's kinda cool too.
6. Don't be mean or insensitive. This kinda goes with critizisim. We don't like mean people, or lovers who treat emotion like it's something to over dramitize or act like it's not there.
7. Take us out some place. Yeah, having homecooked meals is good sometimes, don't get me wrong, but we like to go and see like plays or a movie every once and a while.
8. Don't take advantage or manipulate us. This is important. A lot of Pisces girls don't realize at first when someone is manipulating us, but once we do, it usually ends pretty quickly.
9. Don't tell us how to deal with work or school. We might be day dreamers, but a lot of Pisces girls are pretty logical when it comes to our career, so don't assume just because we might be a little spacey in our personal lives that's how we are in business.
10. Don't be superficial. This is a turn off. We like guys (or girls) who are real, and not just shallow jerks.
To sum it up, Pisces girls like it when you do creative things for them, respect them, and be real.

Well I am a typical leo, I am more general though, so it could count for males too, so if this does I would put a exclaim beside it... The important must haves will begin with a wahmbulance and a non important one with a cheese_whine because you may be a cheese but we like the wine better or vice versa... but anyway ye
cheese_whine Leos love it when people share the same opinions as them, not because they can't handle different opinions, no that isn't true, otherwise they would practically just make clones of themselves... no no, it's because they hate the conflict that comes with it. If you share the same opinion, make sure it's about things that you talk about more, like sharing the same music interest may help, or the same thoughts about capital punishment... ect. exclaim
wahmbulance YOU MUST value the Leos opinions!!!!!!!! Now, it's not like they will definately value yours or listen to yours, though some actually do, it's just that they hate it when people ignore theirs because they believe theirs is truly right, or at least nearly right. If it isn't then at least listen to it first then tell them why it is (in private). exclaim
wahmbulance DO NOT HUMILIATE A LEO! Leos have a lovely ego that shines because they believe that it will enlighten others... If you insult that ego they will darken... They hate appearing weak to others because they want others to still think the same way about them. They want them to still share secrets to them or ask for advice... If they are humiliated they will get their revenge... And if in a relationship they will hurt you. exclaim
cheese_whine This counts more for mercury in leo, but be aware that we do have an ego. If your sun sign is also leo they will usually be more understood. (like me! I mean my step dad and mum have cancer and virgo suns and mercurys in leo, I find them really annoying)
cheese_whine Leo females love gifts of all kinds, though expensive ones make them faint in awe. But if you give them gifts they will like you for it...
wahmbulance BUT BE WARNED! NEVER TREAT THAT GIFT LIKE A DEBT!
Even Leo males hate it. If you use it against them, they will take note that you gave it as a gift, they will dump you on the spot or not accept pressies from you again which will affect the relationship alot. If you have a mercury in a sign which has a vivid imagination, eg. Leo, pisces ect. Then avoid words like that... Leos like it when you appear human though. It makes their self aware attitudes feel normalised. So if you burp, do not make it done on purpose but by accident, but don't avoid burping. razz
