November paced back and forth in front of the willow trees, waiting for Spotty to join her. She had very exciting news to tell him, and she knew that he would be very shocked. After all, they had only been lifemates for a little while, not long at all. And November wasn't exactly ready for this...even though she was very glad that it had happened. She hadn't realized at first what was happening, but she was certain now. She could feel the foals in her swollen belly kicking and moving. There was no more denying the truth.

Spotty trotted over towards the willow trees where he and November had stayed not too long ago. She had been acting different lately, but the stallion just couldn't put his finger on it. He had even noticed that November had started looking different and seemed very happy. Spotty just took this as normal mare behavior. Little did he know it was something much more.
"November!" he called once the mare was in sight.

November stopped her pacing, and walked over to meet Spotty. "Hello, Spotty darling." she said, her anxiety showing on her face. She nuzzled him in greeting, and braced herself for what she knew she had to tell him. "Spotty...I have something to tell you." she said quietly.

November seemed much more anxious than usual. Spotty wondered what she had to tell him, hopefully it wasn't something bad. From the look on November's face, it couldn't be bad news.
"What is it Pumpkin?" he asked curiously, looking straight towards his mate. He hadn't really noticed before, but she seemed to be get larger in a certain place...

November smiled at him, wondering how she would tell him the news. "Spotty, dear, there's no easy way to say this. I've known for a while what was going on with me." she paused, taking a deep breath to try to calm her nerves. "Spotty, you're going to be a daddy!" she said, smiling at him.

The news didn't quite stick with Spotty until a few seconds had gone by. Now he felt foolish for not realizing it earlier. It all made sense! The change in November's attitude and her body. Looking now, Spotty could tell she was obviously pregnant. He couldn't belive he didn't see the signs before.
Although he was surprised, Spotty couldn't have asked for a happier surprise. "You're...pregnant November!" he said happily, the information finally sinking in, "We're going to be parents!"
It happened so fast, but Spotty wasn't worried at all. He knew that they would make great parents.

"Yes, we're going to be parents!" November said, delighted that he was pleased with the news. She had been so worried that he wouldn't be ready for children, which now seemed like an unreasonable fear. Of course he'd be happy! She didn't even know why she had been so worried.
She wasn't sure that she was ready for kids, and she knew next to nothing about them, but she knew that she already had an unimaginably deep love for her babies.
"Spotty? Do you want to see if you can feel them kicking?" she asked softly, motioning for him to place his nose on her belly.

Spotty guessed that neither of the two knew much about the foals or fillies they were about to have. Though, he pushed this thought away. When the time came, they would know what to do.
He brought his colorful nose down to November's belly. Keeping it there, he could feel movement from inside where the babies were. The feeling was so strange and took Spotty's breath away.
"I wonder how many are in there," he said bringing his nose up to give November a nuzzle.

"I do too, but there's no way of knowing how many there are until they come out. I wish there was a way to know..." She nuzzled him back, whispering in his ear, "If they're anything like their Daddy, then they'll be the most beautiful foals ever born."
It was a strange feeling, this feeling of the foals living inside of her. She smiled a motherly smile as she thought about the babies growing inside of her. She wished that Spotty could feel the same things that she was feeling, because it was such an amazing emotion.

"I think I should be the one saying that to you," he said with a big smile. Spotty tried to imagine what the babies would look like. One thing was for sure, they sure would be interesting! Bright rainbow colors and natural browns? The thought of having a smaller version of himself made Spotty excited.
It was funny because Spotty had always thought that if he was ever going to have babies, that he would be worried. Now he was so excited that he could barely wait until they came. But then he thought of November. The weight had to be a lot to bare on her body. "Are you tired at all?" he asked, seeing if she was alright, "I wouldn't want you to over work yourself."

November beamed at him, flattered by his compliment. Whatever the case, she knew that these foals would be interesting. She did want at least one of the foals to resemble her, at least somewhat. However, she knew that the foals would be a mix of both her and Spotty, and knew that they would be gorgeous, regardless of what they looked like.
November had been very worried about the whole thing, and the process of childbirth still scared her, but she knew that she would be okay as long as Spotty was there beside her. She felt sure that he would be. "I am a little," she confessed, smiling at him. "I get tired so easily it seems." she frowned. "It's kind of annoying at times. I wish there was a way to keep all the energy I used to have. That would be great."

"Don't worry November," Spotty reasured her, "You'll have all your energy back after the babies come." He knew that November would have to take it easy from now on. She would probably need to rest much more. But Spotty didn't mind, he would stay right next to his mate while she rested.
"Let's walk a little more, since it's so beautiful out," he smiled, trying to lift November's frown, "Then we can go rest for a little while." Spotty figured that they could spend some more time outside before heading back to the teepee.

November felt better after Spotty reassured her. "I hope so..." she said, smiling weakly.
"Alright. But we can't stay out too long." November said, leaning into him slightly. She was feeling a bit tired, and was going to have to lay down soon. She didn't want to keep Spotty from being outside, and she knew that he wouldn't leave her, not now that he knew that she was pregnant. She didn't want him to leave her, but she did want him to be able to continue doing the things that he loved, and that included long walks in the snow. She felt bad about it, knowing that he would give up so much for her.

"Okay," Spotty said, understanding that November was tired. "Let's start walking back to the teepee. We can enjoy the landscape as we go."
It was rather cold out, so the stallion didn't mind heading back to rest. He knew that November would start to get more tired more easily. Looking at his mate's expression, he could see that she felt bad. He wanted to say something that would make her feel better.
"I don't mind resting," he smiled at her, "I enjoy every minute with you. Weither it's outside or in the teepee."
