It was a cooler than normal day and Azubuike was even more bored than usual. He had been in the area for three days now and was starting to debate traveling again. The wild dog had hoped to find some excitement here but from the looks of it, that was not going to happen.

But what harm could staying one more day do? Azubuike always had his hopes up that he would meet someone new. So he could stand to stay in the area for another day or so.

There was a watering hole nearby, this was always overflown with other animals. Perhaps someone there would be of interest to Azubuike. With a flick of his dark tail, the male started to make his way towards the shallow water.

There was a saying that everybody knew - "eat or be eaten." Yet for the golden coated wild dog, it was far from the truth. As far as she was concerned, life's true meaning came from whether or not life was lived out happy. To be able to stave off one's hunger was indeed a good thing, and something that was required in order for the individual to survive. And yet, where was the point of being alive, if not to be happy?

Kusadiki trotted along joyfully. She was happy, and for really no apparent reason. Only that she was alive, and that once more the sun shone and the skies were bluer than blue. For this, she had found, was the true root to enjoying life.

There was a spring in the wild dog's step as she powered right on along, covering ground effortlessly. But it was a hot enough day, and she had been on the move since sunrise. So perhaps, she decided, she would head to the nearest waterhole for a sip. Perhaps to take a bit of a rest, too, before she would be back on her feet and ready to jaunt off to absolutely wherever she wished and wherever her paws led her.

By that time, Azubuike's dark fur had become rather hot in the savannah's sun. He bent down and took a long drink, savoring the cooling effect it had on his body. After he finished, the wild dog let out a small sigh. There weren't very many other animals around the watering hole, despite what he had thought.

However, off in the distance, the male saw a figure heading towards the water. This animal was almost able to blend in with the surrounding area, which made it difficult to see. Though, Azubuike was almost certain that it was another wild dog. It was almost like a sixth sense he had.

As she jaunted along, she could make out a dark shape near the water. Her ears pricked in interest. For she would always look forward to another new meeting. What kinds of promises meeting others brought, and Kusa loved the experience.

Though she wasn't one to party, or anything like it, she was quite a social creature, and she liked nothing more than to have another to spend her time with. She wagged her tail gently as she neared, realizing it was another wild dog.

Oh but what a coat he had! She felt intrigued by it, wondering what it was like to sport a coat of such colorful fur. She smiled politely, though, rather than leap right on him and ask what it was like.

"Hello, there."

The distant animal started to get closer and Azubuike kept his eyes on it. He had been right, it was another wild dog, and a female at that! She was coming right towards him and Azubuike had to try and hide his excitement. This female had a very natural brown coat, much different from his black one. It was starting to look like he would have an interesting day after all.

"Hello," he returned the greeting, letting his dark tail wag back and forth, "I'm Azubuike."

"Kusadiki," She said, adding her name into the introductions. It was just polite to do so, after all. Her nose twitched as she took his name and scent and committed them to memory. If she were to run into him again, she would recognize who it was. Reunions were always so much fun.

"So, how has your day been then, Azubuike?" She asked, always ready to take out some small talk for when meeting someone new. She was never one to shy away from a meeting, and in fact she rather loved them and whenever she saw someone new, she would always try to make her way over. If just so she could meet someone else to put onto her acquaintances list.

Azubuike was glad that the female was friendly and was glad that he had found someone to talk to. "To tell you the truth Kusadiki, my day has been boring so far," then he added with a smile, "That is, before you came along."

She was the only other wild dog he had seen since he came to this area. Hopefully, things would go well between them. Azubuike wasn't looking forward to traveling to another area. He would much rather stay here where he knew he had some company. The savannah could be quite lonely by yourself.

She chuckled at that and smiled. "Why, thank you. I take it that's a compliment?" But she had to agree with him. There was nothing like meeting someone new to spice up your day. And though Kusa herself tried her best to spice life up all on her own, it was quite hard.

And there was that one single resolution she had made long ago. That she would find one thing new and interesting to hang on to and make that day special. Today, she had found Azubuike, who had the most spectacular coat she had yet come across.

So he made her day special.

Azubuike watched the female smile; she had one of the brightest smiles he had ever seen. "It most certainly was a compliment," he said with a smile before adding, "Kusadiki..."

Then he paused and thought for a moment. "Would you mind if I called you just Kusa?" he asked. It was quite refreshing for the wild dog to have a conversation like this. There was no one to talk to when he traveled alone and he had always been a social male. But he tended to be more select in his choice of company. Even if there were other animals in the area, Azubuike found that he prefered the company of other wild dogs better.

Kusa nodded. "Of course," She said brightly. "I don't see why not." There was nothing about being called either name that she didn't like, and if anything she almost preferred just Kusa. It was much less of a mouthful, and she was more used to answering to it.

"Where are you headed, then?" She added. "Or do you live around here?" Perhaps she was in his territory... She doubted it though. She had a good nose for territory markings and she hardly ever let her mind wander off long enough to mistakenly intrude into someone else's territory. It wasn't a good idea, either letting her mind go for too long to stepping past marked boundaries.

"Alright, Kusa" he repeated with a small wag of his tail. He had always liked shortening longer names; which is a bit ironic considering his name wasn't too short itself.

There was no certain destination the male was going to. He was merely heading out in hopes of finding some spice for his life. "I'm just a wanderer," Azubuike answered, "I've been traveling from area for some time now." He was starting to wonder if Kusa lived around this area. If she did, perhaps he would decide to stay a while. "What about you?" he asked.

"I'm just the same as you," She said with a laugh. How very ironic. "Why is that, though? Are you simply out trying to find out what life is all about, or is there some reason to this wandering of yours?"

Perhaps either way he answered, he would be like her. For not only was she here to find something to make out of her life, she had also been searching for a companion she had lost in a terrible storm some time ago. She had all but given up on the hope of finding her friend again, but the possibilities still lingered there at the back of her ever hopeful mind.

The same huh? It seemed that the two had more in common than Azubuike had thought. He thought about her question for a moment. What was the real reason he traveled around so much? It was true that he was looking for an exciting place; but what kind of excitement was he looking for?

"I guess..." he said trying to figure out what to say, "I'm trying to find the life I know I can have, one that I can make the most of."

Azubuike lived a simple and boring life. One that he knew could be different. So he had set out to try and change it. He still wasn't sure what he was looking for that could change his life. A mate perhaps? That would certainly do the trick. But the male had no idea how one would go about getting a mate. So the thought was pushed to the back of his mind.

After answering her question, he couldn't help but wonder her reason for wandering. "What about you?" he asked.

"I guess you could say I'm just out to find out what good there is about life," She said with a little shrug. She had only just met him, after all, and she had no idea if he was one to place trust in. So she was hardly ready to impart too much more than that.

And what she had said was true. For if she did not try to find something good for her life, then what was she doing here? What was the purpose of being alive, if not for living it to the fullest and being happy at every single turn of the way.

And nothing could stray Kusa from that goal. She had spent all her life trying to reach it, and all the rest of her life would be spent doing the same. For somehow, someway, she would find out what it was like to be unconditionally happy. That she would.

Azubuike smiled at Kusa, it seemed like they each had a deep meaning behind their traveling. The conversation had caused the male to think about what he was doing. So far his journey for a more exciting life had been a gray one. He found himself no closer to his goal than when he started. This was troubling, so Azubuike tried to concentrate on Kusa instead.

"Well, I hope each of us can find what we are looking for," he said, looking into the water nearby. What was the wild dog looking for exactly? He wasn't sure what he needed to change his life to be what he wanted it to be. "I guess I should figure out what it is I'm looking for exactly," he said with a small laugh.
