Christopher Paolini ... thats his name... Here is a bit of facts that i picked up on the net...Christopher was fifteen when he wrote the first draft of Eragon. He took a second year to revise the book and then gave it to his parents to read. The family decided to self-publish the book and spent a third year preparing the manuscript for publication: copyediting, proofreading, designing a cover, typesetting the manuscript, and creating marketing materials. During this time Christopher drew the map for Eragon, as well as the dragon eye for the book cover (that now appears inside the Knopf hardcover edition). The manuscript was sent to press and the first books arrived in November 2001. The Paolini family spent the next year promoting the book at libraries, bookstores, and schools in 2002 and early 2003.
In summer 2002, author Carl Hiaasen, whose stepson read a copy of the self-published book while on vacation in Montana, brought Eragon to the attention of his publisher, Alfred A. Knopf, which is part of Random House. Michelle Frey, executive editor at Knopf Books for Young Readers, contacted Christopher and his family to ask if they might be interested in having Knopf publish Eragon. The answer was yes, and after another round of editing, Knopf published Eragon in August 2003.
And it is 1month and 17days till the release of Brisinger... the third book in this series..

I'm only just now reading the first book. I enjoyed the movie [watched it last weekend] and decided to pick up the books. Of course, as is so often the case the book's proven to be much better than the movie. I'll not read into this thread too much lest I spoil something for myself but I've seen the text about the author. I really admire him - to have written something so fantastic at such a young age is enviable.

Really, you think the movie's that good? You'll change your mind after you've read the book... So many parts have been left out that the movie just does not make sense anymore. Dx That's just what I think though. The book is fantastic.

I read the first book when I was 15, and I loved it. I've read all of the books, the first two twice, and they're among my favorites.

Brisingr... Well. It's not as much as I'd expected. Roran's story is too long for just another character - anyone think he could be the 3rd Rider? It's almost like half of the book's about Eragon and the other half's about Roran. I have to admit though... Eragon's sword is awesome. And that little girl whom he blessed, what was her name? She's... creepy. So the book's alright I guess. A few twists of the story I don't like, but most of them are nicely written.
