AIM RP Log between Felyn and Krysin
Kiasi'Nyota & Uzalishaji

A soft sigh fluttered past the young mother's maw as she relaxed her body down upon the granite slab, letting the sun wash over her golden-brown pelt. Her eyes had only just shut when a voice broke through the silence, and the deep blue eyes opened to peer down upon brighter green ones. "What is Jiryan?"

"I thought you were going to come play with us?" he asked with a bit of a frown on his mug, eyes steady upon her own, though he was respectful with his tone regarldess of the accusation.

"I'm tired, love," she said with a bit of a sigh, reaching out to tussle the fur atop his head with a paw. She loved her cubs dearly and would never regret the choice to have them, but they drove her to the point of exhaustion sometimes.

"Fine," he said with a bit of a grumpy sigh before he sauntered off into the brush, his voice soon joining that of other cubs easily heard in the distance.

She took another deep sigh, shutting tired eyes, and laying her head back down upon her paws. She shifted until she was lying on her side, letting the sun bathe her belly slightly in its warm rays. It had been a while since she had had the luxury of a few moments to herself. The cubs were old enough to play a little ways away without her having to watch them every second, especially so deep within the pride.

Uzalishaji was revelling in the fact that he had somehow wheedled some independence from his family. The excuse his father used, that Shaji was too young to permanently move from the den, could no longer be used. Shaji was an adult now, and even slightly bigger than his own father (not by much, but it was certainly something despite Ezeoha's small size). So Shaji, feeling the need to no longer depend upon his own family and burden himself to them in some way was out searching for a new den. He didn't think he'd have much difficulty finding a place to live, considering how vast and plentiful the Pridelands were. It was finding someplace close enough to home so he could keep his father from becoming too lonely that was difficult, and even now he had wandered far enough into the heart of the Pridelands that he was wondering if it was too much when his father was slowed down by a young cub (though she was absolutely adorable, and the only child of his father's that wasn't yellow or brown). But, his independence was worth too much, and so he continued his search.

His red eyes blinked, though, as he saw a cub dart past him, joining what seemed to be like a fairly large amount of cubs. For a little bit, he watched them play their games, considering them to be related. So, their parents couldn't be that far off, and their parents would likely know of a den site nearby that Shaji could take up as his own. Deciding not to bother the cubs, though, he walked away from them, searching for their parents (he automatically assumed they had both a mother and a father, despite his upbringing - there were simply too many cubs to not have two parents).

Instead he found a lioness he would not immediately assume to be the cubs' mother. For a little bit he was concerned with disturbing her, because she looked so peaceful laying underneath the sun, soaking in the heat and life from the rays. But, Shaji didn't believe her to be asleep, and so pester her he did, not realizing that he was actually disturbing her from the little rest she likely got. "Hello... miss?" Almost cautiously he padded closer to the resting lioness, though was careful to keep her distance in case she decided not to like him.

A great sigh fluttered from her maw, eyes reluctantly prying themselves open once more as she heard the voice of another. Met with a golden-colored male, though slightly of a different build than most members of the pride, she immediately assumed him to be a pridelander. She picked her head up, ocean-toned orbs sweeping over him, measuring him in a moment. The irritation on her face was barely disguised and it was a sign of exhaustion that it even showed at all. She was good at playing the happy little female most of the time, especially when she thought she might get something from it.

"Yes, do you need something?" She asked, though now that she was up she might as well bother to at least make sure she could still hear the cubs. Her head cocked slightly, ears perkd, listening until she heard at least one word from each of them (despite the number of little rascals, she could tell each apart by voice alone). True, it might not have been readily apparent that she was their mother, but she indeed was. She only had two that looked much like her in color, though many carried her markings. They looked a lot like their father and her own mother, in her opinion.

Shaji was not the most astute of lions, and so her irritation with being roused from her nap went completely unnoticed by the golden male. He only smiled at her gratefully, seemng rather pleased that she was willing to aid him. "Well, yes, I just need a little guidance. I'm Uzalishaji, and I was born and raised closer to the borders of the Pridelands. But, I've been aching for a new den somewhat closer to Pride Rock, and a den around here would be wonderful. Do you know of any empty den I could stay in?" He was a rather polite lion, honest and earnest and generally happy. His voice carried a light, carefree mood, and a certain overwhelming degree of happiness.

He was watching her face carefully, the little flicker of her ears towards the direction of the cubs voices. Though the cubs didn't necessarily carry the same coloring as this lioness, Shaji could tell that they were most likely her's, and that opened a gateway to conversation and an opportunity to make good will with another lion. "Are all those cubs back there your's? They're gorgeous - there has to be about eight of them. I'm pretty sure there's eight. All of them can't be your's. That's a bit of a handful."

The fact that he didn't pick up on her irritation didn't go unnoticed, but she merely smirked instead of commenting upon it. He was already starting to come off as a gentle, sweet male and that was surprising to her. Well, Vulcan had been somewhat like that, though he was much more ambitious and assertive than this one seemed to be. Still, the vague similarity made her smile, and for the moment she could forgive him for waking her. "There's quite a few empty caves around, actually. I had to find a large enough one to fit all the rascals in with myself, actually, just recently."

"There's seven of them, actually. Four girls and three boys," she almost purred it out in pride, her tail wavering behind her as those deep ocean-toned eyes slid in the direction from which their voices could be heard. "But yes, they're all mine. I'm afraid fertility graces my family. The father was just a passer-by, though he meant no ill-will. I asked for cubs, and I got them." SHe shrugged, as if it were the most natural thing in the world to have seven cubs running around and raising them by themselves.

Even her smirk seemed perfectly innocent in his eyes, and he found himself warming up to her simply because she didn't seem hostile. Shaji was quick to make friends with just about anything, but it was a deep friendship, a true friendship that took a while to develop. Shaji had yet to tell the difference between friends and true friends, but one did exist, and it could take a while to change from friend to true friend. "Why, thank you. That's all I need to hear, and I wouldn't dare bother you with guiding me any further to a den site." He gave her a smile that was entirely dissarming, his red eyes brightening with happiness at having found a decent area that had a few empty caves that would make perfect dens for a single lion.

"I was not all that far off then, but wow, that is a lot of children." He was happy to see her pride in her children, and it was similar to the pride he had in his little half-sister, but nothing could beat the pride of a parent. "And all your's? That has to be horrible. My father only managed to raise five on his own at a given time. He's got another little girl right now, but she's the only one he has to take care of." But when it hit him that she was taking care of so many cubs on her own, he was troubled slightly. "Surely you shouldn't be taking care of all of them by yourself? I would go insane if I had to." Blindly, he jumped into something that was likely to put him in way over his head. "Since I'm sure I'll be living nearby, I could helpyou with them from time to time. You don't deserve to have to raise so many on your own. I'll help you, if you want me to."

Her eyebrow quirked slightly as she heard his words, the surprising offer making her mind come to a halt for just a few moments. It wasn't every day that a random stranger offered to help raise your cubs, and it certainly wasn't something she expected, despite the fact that he was a very sweet fellow. "Well, I suppose it is quite hard raising so many of them on my own, but that's.. a very generous offer. Are you sure you'd be willing to do something like that?" Normally, she would have accepted and been glad - but being a mother taught her much responsibility that was. She was certainly hoping he just said yes and they could go on about their way with it all. She'd love to have more time to herself.

"If you do, there's a cave that's actually very close to my own - in seeing distance, in the same rock face. I'd be happy to go round the little rascals up and show it to you." She shrugged, as if it were no problem - but if she was getting someone to help her with them, she didn't mind cutting this day short. After all, she'd be getting a lot more of them.

He wasn't quite sure about what he was saying himself, because it sounded crazy when he replayed it in his head. But, his father had taught him (unintentionally) to never go back on one's word, especially when it was given to a female. Shaji had just offered to help her raise seven cubs, and he would not take his offer back like it was some sort of cruel joke. Shaji was simply too kind of a lion to play this mother that way. "I'm absolutely sure that I would be willing to help you raise your offspring. I helped out a little with my own siblings, and my family was rather large. I have training in it. It really won't be that much of a burden, and it'll give me a little bit of purpose to my days."

He was relieved when she offered to guide him to a cave that was nearby (though he wasn't quite sure if he should be relieved about being close enough to be beckoned whenever the kids become too much of a handful for Kiasi). "I would appreciate it if you would show me to this cave. It doesn't have to be much, just something large enough for me to snuggle up in at night and sometimes during the day." As he was a simple lion, he had simple needs. Food, water, shelter, and conversation was all he needed to thrive on.

She laughed softly and gave a small nod, although she was still having a problem believing that this had actually happened. A random, sweet male was offering to help her raise her horde of cubs? She wouldn't question it, but it was certainly still surprising. "I suppose if you're going to help me raise those cubs of mine, I should probably introduce myself." She pushed herself up to her feet, bowing her head as she stood atop the granite rock (being that she was actually petite, even for a pridelander female, it wasnt that intimidating of a position), "my name is Kiasi'Nyota."

She grinned and stepped down from the rock, nodding appreciatively. He might regret his position of being a substiture father, and living close, once the cubs got used to him - they seemed to warm up to others decently enough and probably wouldn't hesitate to run to him as often as they did her. "Well, let us go get the cubs, since I don't trust them out here alone, and I'll show you that way?"

Shaji didn't see his intentions as anything other than pure, and could not imagine that anyone would think his offer to help raise a bunch of cubs weird. He just considered it a kind deed, a good gesture that needed no questioning. Kiasi would need help raising so many cubs, so Shaji was willing to offer her his help because not a lot of other lions would. It was a big burden, and most lions his age had cubs of their own, a family of their own. Kiasi would not get help from much elsewhere. "It is a pleasure, Kiasi'Nyota." He would call her by her full name until she told ihm otherwise.

He returned her grin, staring up at her briefly before she stepped down from the rock, and turning his body slightly he began to walk away owards the vacinity of the cubs. He was walking slow enough for Kiasi to pass him and lead the way, since he really had no idea where he was going, other than towards the cubs to pick them up. It would be stupid to leave the bunch of them all alone when they made such a ruckus. "All right, and really, I can't thank you enough for helping me find a place to stay. I needed to get away from my family a little, a little independence is what I need."

"I know that feeling," she said with a small laugh, shaking her head as she took a few quick steps to catch up with him and indeed take a small lead - not much, enough to she could steer them towards the cubs, but still be next to him to talk. "I lived with my father right up until he left to go travel, and although I miss him, I can't say I don't like being alone for once," she shrugged, although the truth was that she just didn't want to move out. She had been doted upon. Now she realized that independence was almost as good as being spoiled anyway. "My brother is the only one I see anymore, but at least he comes around often. He loves his nieces and nephews, especially with so much of the family leaving home. They're special to him."

As they broke free of some foliage, her eyes landed upon the mass of red, brown, white and yellow and one look was enough for most of them to stop and start heading towards her. Jiryan and his brother, as typical of them, were in the lead with the other meandering behind.

"Who's that?" came the red-pelted cub's voice, suspicious, but weren't all cubs a little curious? He was glued to Tut's hip most of the time, but always seemed to take the lead in a sense.

Shaji hadn't been alone long enough to determine whether he liked it or not, but he was going on the assumption that if Kiasi liked it, he would like living a life away from his family as well. Her words were only reinforcing his plan to separate himself partially from his family. He would never walk away from them, and in fact would likely every day go and visit them. But the idea of going home to his own place, alone, made him feel as he had taken another giant step towards living alone. "I'm sure I will enjoy it as much as you do. Of course, I'll visit my family some times. I can't just block them out of my life entirely. They are all special to my, every brother and sister, and especially my father." His mother was long gone, and no one knew where she was, and no one any longer attempted to try and figure out where she had gone off to. She was the past.

He followed her through some foliage, red eyes brightening with barely contained happiness at the sight of the seven cubs coming to greet them, and as Jiryan asked who he was, he saw no problem in answering him. "I'm Uzalishaji. I'm moving in nearby and your mother is being kind enough to guide me to my new home." His gaze trailed over to one of the girls, decorated in flashy jewellry, and mainly his attention was attracted to her because she was eyeing his own accessories openly.

Katiti'manina's blue eyes stared in awe at the piercings in Shaji's ear, at the bracelets that clanked noisily around the lion's wrist. "Who cares? Where'd he get that awesome stuff?" She answered her brother in a light, dimissive tone, seeing his question rather pointless. Eventually they would be told who this lion was anyways, so there was no reason to ask. Her reasoning was proven correct only moments later when Shaji gave them his name.

Kiasi's eyes shifted quickly to her daughter as she mentioned the 'awesome stuff' that Shaji was wearing. She gave her a warning look, the deep blue oceanic eyes hardening almost to steel. Oh, she knew her daughter's ways, even at a young age, and she wouldn't tolerate it right under her nose. "Kat, you are to respect Shaji, you understand me?" Oh, she wouldn't come right out and say what she meant - but Katiti wasn't stupid, she would know. She meant for those shiny things of Shaji's to stay on Shaji.
Jiryan smirked at his sister, and his mother's scolding of her. He knew what it meant of course, because he knew all about Kat's little sticky paws. His eyes, however, settled upon the older male with a nod of his head. "I'm Jiryan, then. I guess it's good mom is talking to somebody." Oh, it was a joke, but it was so very uncalled for.

Kiasi just snorted however, and turned to walk away, "want me to show you the way now?"

Katiti's eyes innocently shifted from Shaji's 'bling' and up to her mother, and as soon as Kiasi had spoken a delicate little pout had formed on Katiti's face. It seemed like for a moment or two that she would argue with her mother, but Katiti knew better then to argue with Kiasi. She never won. "I understand," she replied in a typical sullen tone, pawing at the earth innocently. Catching her brother's smirk, she stuck her tongue stubbornly out at him. If he got anything pretty, it would sooner be Kat's then it would be his own. She'd make sure of it.

"Well, it's certainly nice to meet you, Jiryan, Kat." Shaji was as perfectly polite as ever, nodding his head to the two cubs briefly before turning his gaze and attention back to Kiasi. "I'm sure Kat won't be a problem, she seems like a perfectly kind cub." But, Shaji was always a litle optimistic when it came to judging other lions. He just completely failed to see anything bad about someone else. "Oh, yes, I would like to get settled in." He turned to follow Kiasi, glancing back at the cubs to make sure that they were going to follow Kiasi and himself. He was sure they would, to him they all seemed like perfectly fine and adorable children, despite a few abnormal quirks.

A slow smirk spread across the maw of the older female as she listened to the male talk about how perfect her daughter was. Oh yes, Katiti was perfect in many ways - she was turning out to be the devious little child that Kiasi had always expected she would, and in many ways fufilling what Kiasi herself wanted for her daughters. However, the smirk only widened and she gave a soft shake of her head, "if you think such foolish thoughts, perhaps you can not see so clearly." It was not said unkindly, and she smiled at the end of it in an amused manner. She shrugged, finally, and began to lead the way back to the dens in the center of the pride. "There are actually a lot of cubs hanging around the den area at the moment - I do hope that that's not much of a problem. I think the pride is having a baby boom."

Jiryan thought it was probably good that he really didn't have much interest in wearing anything - he knew all about Katiti's little sticky paws. With a smirk, he leaned over to bat at Katiti's ear, and then scampered off with a chuckle after his parents as the rest of their siblings moved forward.

Shaji eyed the smirk curiously, but it was only a brief glance, as if he felt that staring too long at the smirk would be rude. Some of his father's lessons had stuck on him, though flirting with females would be way beyond his capabilities. He had learned to be polite, though, and it showed. "Oh?" He blinked, a little confused by what she had said. "My eyesight is pretty good, and my eyes are young enough that it hasn't faded or dulled in any way." It was clear that what she meant did not hit Shaji, and he had interpreted it in a different way. Still, he was confused by it, because how could foolishness be connected to eyesight? "From what I remember, the pride has always been in a baby boom. There's always been plentiful amounts of cubs, so I'm used to hanging around them often. So, it's no problem." He walked by her side, his slim form moving effortlessly, genetics that could be contributed to his father.

Kat was personally horrified with her siblings' lack of value in material things. Of course, family, love, and friendship was important, but the material added a little spice to life. When she felt her brother bat at her ear, she gasped, glaring at him with lethal eyes before proceeding to chase after him. She wouldn't whine to her mother, and especially not to Shaji. She'd just get revenge, as she always did.

Kiasi smiled amusedly at his words, realizing at once that such talk would just be lost on him. It was almost cute in a way, his innocence, but she couldn't help the way her smile seemed so very amused. Deciding it best to push the subject away, and perhaps to let him find out how 'perfect' her cubs were for himself, she turned her deep eyes ahead of her and towards the pride heart. "Very true, I suppose the pridelands are quite a fertile land. Well, so long as you have no problem, there should be no problems." Her tail flickered, her head nodding to the great bulk of pride rock and those similar that surrounded it. "The caves are built into that, though there are a select few around in other cliff faces. Ours is at the base of one of the lesser cliffs." She was talking in a matter-of-fact tone, but her eyes slid to watch him every few steps.

Jiryan was half listening to his mother and Shaji when he saw his sister move after him out of the corner of his eye. With a bit of a sly grin on his mug, he leapt up ahead of his mother, dancing between her legs (which earned him a frown that he promptly ignored) and then loping on ahead. "Come on, slow poke!"

Shaji, being a little simple, did not realize in fact how simple he truly was. He knew he had his own way of understanding things, but not that it made him a little less brighter than most other creatures. He was glad that they weren't going to discuss the topic any further, because he was sure he would not be able to follow it for much longer without suffering the consequences of a migraine. "It's a peaceful land, that's open to foreigners, so we get a lot of older lions, which results in a lot of young cubs quickly. Soon I imagine there will be little room left in the Pridelands for newcomers." He eyed Priderock, knowing it to be considered the center of the Pridelands. His family lived towards the boundary line, so perhaps he was farther from him then he would have liked. But, he would deal with it for the sake of a comfortable den. "I see, it does seem to be a bit complicated, wouldn't you agree? The open cave that I'll be staying in is close to your's, then?" Quite honestly, he didn't care where he lived, so long as it was some sort of a shelter.

"I am not slow!" She cried out in retaliation, weaving between Shaji and her mother's legs before pouncing at her brother. She was determined to get him back, especially after that little insult of his. Kat already had her opinions on how to handle such issues. Revenge was on the top of her list.

Kiasi really couldn't help but notice how much he talked. He was long winded, and although it wasn't the most disinteresting thing she had heard others talk about before, it certainly wasn't something she cared a whole lot for. "Yes, oh yes, quite complicated," she agreed, turning her eyes away as they neared the cliff that her cave was actually built into. "Yes, it's just.. over there," she paused besides her own cave - rather generously spacious - and pointed to one a little farther down the cliff face with her paw.

He yelped as he was pounced, falling down to the ground and rolling slightly. This close to the den, their mother had really stopped paying attention to them. He cackled, batting at her ear before he pushed himself back up and darted off towards the cave. "Yes you are!"

Her vague response did not seem to deter him from talking as he usually did. The thing that did prevent him from talking as much as he had originally was that he was quickly running out of things to say. "A little too complicated for my likings," he replied, and that was definitely not hard to believe. Shaji had already proven he was a simple lion, with simple needs and who was generally quite easy to please. "Oh, I can't quite see all of it." He glanced to her den, then, and smiled at the large, spacious area. "Your den is rather nice, and I fancy it's big enough to fit you and your cubs. But I doubt you can fit much else in there."

She was getting angry at her brother for cackling at her, but she had gotten him that time with her fierce pounce. If only she had her claws out! Then she would have really gotten her revenge, but as it was standing now... she hadn't quite gotten her 'nasty' brother back. As he bat at her ear and darted towards the cave, she naturally gave chase, her heavy jewelry clanging noisily against each other with each bound she took. "If I was I wouldn't have been able to tackle you, stupid!"

She laughed softly and nodded, turning to look at her own den. "It is quite big, yes, but it seems so very much smaller once you pack myself and the cubs in there. For now it is spacious enough, but they are growing quickly and it will very soon probably begin to get more than cramped." Now that he had a den, perhaps some of the boys could sleep with him if they needed to and she wouldn't have to worry about finding a new den. "I can go show you if you want?" She smiled sweetly, her eyes flickering to the cubs as they began to pile into the den for their afternoon nap.

Jiryan wasn't precisely walking into the cave, but he ran ahead of his sister with a wicked grin spread across his maw. He paused just long enough to turn and stick his tongue out and yell back at her. "Maybe if you weren't wearing all that stuff you'd be able to keep me down too!" then, with an amused glint in his eyes, disappeared into the den that his siblings had started to settle in.

Apparently Shaji was thinking along the same lines as Kiasi, because as he thought of the cubs growing he figured that they would not all be able to fit in the den, and since he was living all alone in his den he wouldn't mind giving up some space. "If some of the boys want, I wouldn't mind them staying with me once they get too big to fit. I should have some space for them." He smiled at the suggestion of her showing him the den, and for just a little bit he was taken by that smile... her smile. It was so sweet that it connected to the overwhelming amount of sweetness in Shaji, and only made him like the lioness more. "I would very much appreciate it."

She gave an indignant squawk as her brother turned around and stuck his tongue out at her, turning to her mother as if to imply that he deserved punishment for his rude actions. With a little growl she turned her gaze back to her brother, her necklace swinging nearly full-circle around her neck. "Maybe if you were wearing something you wouldn't be so ugly!" She exclaimed in retaliation, heading towards the den only because Jiryan was in that general direction.

Kiasi turned to watch the last of her cubs totter into the cave, raising an eyebrow at the anger she could almost see radiating from her daughter. Like cubs do, however, Jiryan had already curled up in the pile of sleeping cubs - he'd spent his last bit of energy apparently teasing his sister. Her eyes shifted back to Shaji and she let out a soft laugh. "That would be very good, actually. It'd save me the trouble of trying to find a plus size den."

She chuckled, dipping her head, and started to walk off towards the den that was a short distance away. "I have a feeling this is the start of something very nice, Shaji," she said, looking over her shoulder before smiling and heading on once more.

He smiled affectionately at the huddle of cubs, apparently finding them more adorable than some of them were. He had inherited his father's love for children (but luckily lacked the drive to make a bunch of them with as many females as possible). "I offered my help, so it's only reasonable for me to offer my den space when you happen to run out of it." He chuckled softly, tossing some golden bangs away from his red eyes. "I think I'll gladly get settled in my new home now," he told Kiasi softly, rather infatuated with the idea of having his own home... his own life away from his father and family. It was rather like a new beginning, just with an added seven cubs and a single mother.

As she led the way towards his new den, he grinned and followed right behind her. "I have developed a similar feeling, I honestly have." He caught up with her then, and together they walked to Shaji's new home.
