As he approached his mother, it was clear she'd met others. There was food near her, and a cub napped on her. Moving closer, he glared at the sleeping cub. He knew that nose marking... He'd passed it to his own son, Shin. Letting out a huff, he nudged Ishara with a paw. "Mother, get up. It's time to go."

The old lioness yawned, opening her green eyes. "Go where...? Are we going to find your brothers and sister...?" She smiled up at her son, eyes slightly misted. It seemed that, in her advancing age, she was beginning to blind. But after a bit of blinking, the misting was gone. It'd been not more than sleep in her eyes. She looked at Taichi, sleeping so peacefully. "We can't wake him..."

Rolling his eyes, the piebald male nudged his mother up. Ignoring the cub's displeased sounds, he motioned to the north-west. "We're going that way. It's not safe here anymore." If his son was here... Sairin wasn't far. His mother's easy forgiveness of his actions made him protective, as well as easily jealous. "We're too close to the hyenas."

Blinking more, Ishara nodded, then looked to Taichi. "Come along, Tai, it's not safe here! Hyenas are near!" It seemed she had no idea he was even her great-grandson. Limping slightly, she ignored her son's absolutely sour look.

Turning to the cub, Toshiro got right down to his face. "Who are you, and who are your parents? And WHY are you hanging on MY mother?" It was pretty clear - He didn't like cubs, and he especially didn't like cubs hanging off his mother. The look the cub gave him, though... He'd seen it staring back at him from water holes and pools of water before.

He didn't like this lion one bit. He'd caused his nap to be disturbed, and he was making the old lioness move! He gave the adult the filthiest look he could muster, growling at him. "My mother is Kabichi and my father is Shin. My grandmother is the rogue Mioyo, and my grandfather is the Firekin Bodaway!" Or so he'd been told, anyway. "Who the hell are YOU?!"

Under his fur, the color drained from Toshi's face. He sat down, glaring at the cub. "I am Toshiro, son of Hidalgo and Ishara, father to Shin." He gave a grunt, leaning down to eye-level. "I am your grandfather, you poor excuse for a lion." It was the same old logic he'd used on Shin - Insult, bully... It made him feel like a bigger lion than he really was.

"Your breath STINKS!" With a growl and a hiss, the cub's lilac-marked paw swiftly struck out, smacking the adult across the nose and snout. He backed up, glaring. "My grandfather's a heartless b*****d, who beats innoccent cubs!" If this was his grandfather... He had to get the old lioness away from him. Hurrying over, he nudged her leg. "Come on, Grannie, we're gion' this way - Momma'll want to keep you safe from that beast!"

Mildly surprised, Ishara started to follow the cub. "Okay.." She looked back at Toshiro, blinking a bit. "What about Toshiro?" She looked about, as if to see some horible beast. "And what beast? I only see you, and me, and Toshiro." The confusion was evident as she returned her gaze to the cub.

Letting out a roar, the male backed up. Green eyes burned with an angry fury as he swatted the cub, batting him away. "You insolent little b*****d!" Snarling, he pressed his black fore-paw down upon the cub. "If you EVER hit me again, I swear to Heaven above and Hell below, I WILL skin you alive and feed you to Mafa and her lackeys!" With another threatening growl, he turned and ushered his mother away. He was NOT letting her stay here.

Getting up, Tai could only watch as his grandfather ushered the old lioness away. Tail lashing, he got up. Was that lion going to HURT her? A growl rumbled in his throat, ears back. He would NOT let her just get bullied like that! He COULDN'T! He started to run after, but the idea of getting fed to Raziel's mother... It made him stop. Wondering what could be done, he looked around. After a moment, he sighed. Grandma might know. With determination, he ran off to find Mioyo.
