Antigone the only daughter of Jedi skipped happily through the jungle she did not often venture far away from her mother or aunt, even her cousins could not convince her to go out. She was heading towards the waterfall, one of the only places she enjoyed being outside of the family's den, it allowed her to day dream and drift off into space.
"One..two..three for five..once I caught a fish alive...six...seven eight nine ten, then I threw it back again," she sang off key. Today was going to be her day! She was going to catch a fish with out Mama's help! She skipped and sang until her light blue eyes glittering in the mid day sun. Her creamy pelt was not like her dark mothers and aunts, she did not attract heat so the humidity and heat in the jungle did not effect her in quite the same way.
"Why did you let it goo? Because it bit my paw so! Which paw did it bite? My little paw on the right!" She sang and splashed into the pool beneath the waterfall.

The goddess of minerals, Boma'burudi was forever wandering, her Siamese marked pelt could often be seen within the jungles because deep within the jungle there was a deep cave, one that she had dug in a past life, that she constantly returned too, sometimes the comfort of the earth around her was enough to allow her to forget about her sons. She walked meandered slowly, hoping to take a dip in the stream near the waterfall, she could hear the roar of the falls but beneath that there was also another sound. A cacophony equal to the sound of her wings was escaping some poor animals lungs. The sound seemed to be someone singing, but she could not tell.
As she padded her dark paws crunched the earth and foliage beneath her she noted that as she approached the falls the obnoxious noise came closer. Her two toned orbs twitched in their sockets as the form of the little juvenile came into view. She was singing about fish, there was absolutely no way she would catch a fish with that racket!
"I think you may have scared them," she said as she crept up behind the young female. She resisted the urge to twitch her wings in fear of frightening the mortal.

Antigone turned sharply looking for the source of the raspy voice, her heart pounded in her cream colored chest. Water caused her fur to cling to itself and she looked quite ridiculous. She used her paws to pull her fur out of her eyes, teetering on her hind legs.
"Are you a monster?" She whispered in awe as she spotted the winged lion, surely this would be her demise, this large beast sneaking up on her ready to eat the tiny icing colored lioness at any moment, "You sure look like one!"

" A monster?" She let out a whooping howl of a laugh at the sheer thought! Who had been filling this silly girls head with ideas of monsters? "No, I'm not a monster, little mortal. I am a goddess." she smirked and took a few steps closer to Antigone she said goddess as if the idea cleared up everything.
"My name is Boma, do you have a name, little lady?" her two toned eyes twinkled with amusement she surely was not a monster in the least! "It's alright to talk to me," she said sensing the child's apprehension at her appearance, "I wouldn't hurt a fly, besides I have a son around your age, a bit younger, it would make me sad if anyone his age got hurt." she looked upon the blue and green girl fondly she had her second son's curiosity and that same look he got when he did not understand a concept.

She looked at the 'goddess' questioningly, mama had said that strangers could lie and deceive you, even if they say they were nice and sweet. She scrunched up her nose and looked the interesting creature up and down.
"Can you fly?" she blurted out and then added, "I'm Antigone, and my mama is right near here, I'll yell if you're really a monster." She slowly approached the goddess hoping to get a better look, "What does goddess mean? You're not a lion?" She questioned her eyes wanting to be pulled to every inch of her new acquaintances form. Wings made of something shiny, two colored eyes, shiny things all over in her fur, wow did she look weird!
"Promise you are not a monster?" She questioned again her voice hollow in sheer awe of Boma's size and appearance.

Boma'burudi would allow the little mortal to get as close as she wanted, and so she stood very still so Antigone, her new little friend could investigate what exactly she was.
"I am positive, Antigone, that I am a goddess, the Goddess of Minerals to be exact," she was not going to say formerly known as goddess of the earth's womb, that would be a bit confusing, "It means that I have special powers like other gods to help mortals, like your self, out." She chuckled in her deep earthy voice and smiled down at Antigone.
"Flying.." she mused, "It's hard because I am so big, but it is possible, would you like to see?" Boma had flown only a few times since returning to the earth's surface and two times times her flights were with mortals on her back.

She nodded enthusiastically along to Boma's tiny monologue about what she was, and abruptly shook her head when the goddess inquired if she would like to see her fly. "If it's hard I don't want to make you do it, but can you tell me if it's fun?"
"What are minerals? What kind of powers?" she was inquisitive and wanted to know everything about Boma, where was her son? Did her son have powers too? She stepped forward again this time coming up right beside Boma. She reached out a neon blue paw and pressed it against one of the gems on Boma's leg. "Are these your skin? Do they hurt?" She looked up at Boma with concern, her paw unmoving as it searched out what the gem could be, it felt as hard as a stone in the waterfall's bed. She wanted to ask why they were different colors but did not do so incase the Great Goddess would start to speak and she might miss an answer.

A broad smile crossed the siamese pelted female's face and a shiver rolled down her spine as the little female touched one of her gems. This little thing was so fragile, and the thought of her demise came harshly into Boma's mind. She tried her best to focus on the little one's questions but was having a very hard time concentrating. Was her second son this bright? Inquisitive? Was her first? She was hoping to figure that out soon.
"To answer your first question flying is interesting, I don't think it fun because I have to think so much, minerals are tiny pieces of earth with all sorts of colors and textures, and sometimes when they add up they create what you have your paw on, a gem." She nodded looking down at Antigone, "Your mama never told you about Goddesses?" She wracked her brain to see if she missed any of the mortal's questions and could not think of anything.
This was the perfect reason why Boma did not have the strength she had in lives past, no one knew too much of the gods these days, they all thought the world just was, no worshiping of the great deities.

She understood when adults sometimes could not answer all of her questions, but this seemed like a special case she needed to know what made a god different from a mortal, what did that mean? She scrunched up her nose again and glared up at Boma. Antigone's mother, Jedi, often told her to slow down when asking questions.
"You did not answer what powers you have, or if you were a lion still?" She questioned wearily and removed her paw from the godddess' leg. She eyed the red gem as Boma called them, and stuck out a claw to touch it. It did not move under her pressure and she looked up again to see if it harmed Boma to do so. It did not seem to be her skin, or it would hurt, that and she also had furn, unless the fur grew out of gems.
So minerals were tiny, so why was she so large? If she was supposed to what..rule minerals?

The Goddess found herself hoping that her second son was much like Antigone, smart and wanting to know answers always, it seemed like a great trait to have. She rolled the possibilities on how to explain all of the answers to her questions and looked down at the little one with patients. Wondering why she tested her claw against the ruby, perhaps she was very intelligent for one so young, and knew something Boma did not.
"Not my skin, no, I lived underground for many years and they bonded to my skin, they don't hurt, and they are too hard for you to break." She nodded as if to prove her point more fully.
"My powers can be to create gems, or call them from within the earth's core, or to create metal through ore," she did another jerky nod, "this all must not make sense, but believe me it works."
She thought about their current conversation and realized the little lady had not answered one of her own questions, "It's only fair you answer mine if I answer yours, your mother did not tell you of gods? Would you mind if I laid down in the water to cool off and to clean myself?" She did not want to be standing around unproductively, she had a new philosophy; keep busy.

The cream colored juvenile retracted her claw and bobbed her head, "Go ahead, take a bath. No, mama told me of monsters, which Auntie Janja says are not real, but I bet they are!" She shouted in child like excitement.
"Can I try to fish while we talk?" she grinned and backed away from Boma's legs trying to get out of the large goddess' way. This was proving to be an interesting outing indeed, one she would have to tell Nasibu and Mama about the moment she returned, they would appreciate a good story.
"Could you create any color gem? Like my color?" She giggled thinking it would be silly to see a stone so many different colors, up until today they all looked the same, brown!
"I told Mama I could catch a fish today," she added into explanation as to why she was determined to catch a fish.

"What are monsters like? Do I really look like a monster?" Boma fired off questions just as fast as Antigone could. She walked slowly avoiding the little blue green mortal and slipped into the water slowly trying not to disturb the fish, what was one more rock to add to the pool anyway?
"Fish away, I would love to see you catch a big one!" An idea formed in Boma's mind and she decided how to carry it out, she could probably create a gem in the shape of a fish if she tried hard enough, it could be exhausting but would be worth it to see Antigone's face light up. Why was it that she could spend time around other's mortal children, but not her own? Oh yeah, she did not have to watch other's mortal spawn parish.
"I could create color of gem, but my powers are not quite what they used to be, it would take a little bit of time to think." She sighed as she sank into the water, just enough to cool her off, but not enough to cause her to be frightened, it would need to be much, much deeper. She feared extraordinarily deep water, even her underwater cave was relatively close to the surface.

She shook her head, no Boma did not seem like a monster, maybe a very tricky monster, but she surely was not a very scary one, different, not scary, "No, Mama says anyone can be a monster, but especially very big lions...which reminds me are you a lion or not," she said testily, they were both forgetting to answer one another's questions, "Monsters are bad creatures, they are always out to hurt you, didn't your mama teach you about monsters?"
She waded into the water beside Boma and looked down into the crystalline water hoping to catch just that, a very big one, one to make Jedi very proud. She splashed her paws at a small brown one and missed, "Rats!" She looked down waiting for the ripples to disappear before plunging her paws back into the water. Each time she missed.

"Haha, so you caught me, that's me testing you seeing if you are paying attention," she tried to smooth out her blunder, mortals always contradicting you! "I am a lion, yes, just like you but much older, I will never die." Boma thought the idea of monsters was scary to her, she could not imagine how scary it was to the child, why would a mother tell her child such a thing? Boma wished to confront the mother, and to tell Auntie Janja to take over the rearing, she had the right idea.
"My mama did not teach me much of anything apparently," she chuckled a deep earthy tone escaping her.
"If you keep your paws in the water and stand very still, they'll come to you, little Antigone."

So she was a lioness after all just one with special powers and wings, that seemed rather unlikely to happen naturally in nature! Boma seemed like a fun goddess to hang around, she was funny and even had small tests for her! How exciting was that! She listened to her new friend's direction and held her paws still in the cool water waiting for that brown fish to come back. She assumed that she was scaring the fish by splashing, and Boma confirmed this notion by her instruction.
"Alright, I'll try..." she whispered and closed her mouth, her tongue poked out in concentration. "One...two...three." she quickly closed her paws around a smaller fish and thrust her paws upward into the air.
"Look! I caught one!" She squealed and in her excitement the slippery fish slid out of her fingers.
