Slowly, tenderly, and as lightly as a brute like him could the swirled stallion rolled his weight over to his other side. His tender side. Falling onto that wench Reya mare hadn't nearly just squished her, it had put his body in an awkward position and he was fairly sure it had added onto his list of received injuries. Stupid gits, damnable little pests! Puny things they were, and yet they had still managed to escape his vengeful grasp yet again. This time however, he had been close, ever so close to harming Aitumn in the same he had done back in the green Aeri's foalhood.

After his dance of blows with the blood bay pompus Jala murder sonofanag, he had retreated to the only place he would ever know as home. The valley of D'ob, the sweet little valley that held as much grass as anyone ever could have wanted. Only problem was, it was overcrowded with idiots, cheerful little things that wanted to converse and bother him, and none ever got him closer to his revenge.

With an overly disturbed snort from his large nostrils, the brute of an Aeri pinned his ears to the back of his skull in a foul manner and slipped into a lumbering walk; attempting to find some place in the valley with enough grass to get at without the need to push pip-squeak nequus out of the way. Not that he minded it, he just didn't feel like putting too much effort into movement at the moment.

She'd had no luck with Himemiya's tree. Had the young girl been right, did she not exist outside the world of Ohtori. The thought made Utena's throat cringe.

Her head was to the ground, and he looked rather down, as she often did on these days. A small yellow flower perked its head up at her and she sighed at.

"I fed a flower like you to ChuChu, before," she told it. It seemed to hide its head in shame. "Oh don't be like that, I'm not talking to a plant, I'm talking to myself and you just happen to be here." She turned her nose up at it and trudged onwards, but soon lost her lame temper for an inanimate object.

Not paying attention to where she was going she made the very uncharacteristic move of slamming straight into someone's side.

"Oh goodness! I'm sorry," she said, shaking her head and backing up a few steps. That was embarrassing.

Unfortunatly for her, that someone just so happened to be the large Aeri stallion who seemed to be in a perminant foul temper for pretty much all of his adult life. Cheer? Civilness? Polite? These words were not in Zak's vocabulary and he doubted they ever would be at the rate he was going right now. Not till his duty was done. Not till he had Aitumn taking a perminant sentence for death would he ever allow himself to succumb to the whims of most of the Nequus world. With this said, the brute who was much larger, stockier, and wider than any ichsa he had ever met; felt dull pang against his side as something ran into him. He had been paying attention either, and so it forced his steps into a jumpy side twitch of his hooves that brought more tenderness out of his body than he would have liked and heavy round hooves clattering briefly amongst themselves to keep from tripping over one another.

Thick head raised high and crimson eyes rolling with white he gazed for the voice that had come out of nowhere; no doubt belonging to a body of some moron. Finally, they rested on the wingless ichsa mare, his head thrusting out and down into a low arch. "Goodness ain't got nothin' ta do about it." True, she had startled him, but she dare say something like that? How childishly pompus was that?

Utena frowned and strained both her ears forwards.

s**t, she hated accents. Her jaw was cocked slightly to the side and she rinkled her nose, praying that would help. It didn't.

She caught the word 'goodness', and 'nothin', oh yeah, 'about it'. Put those all together . . . Well that was rude. Her contorted fae turned into a honest to goodness frown.

Oh well, maybe he was having a bad day. Some men had those. Speaking of, he was a rather bright boy. She wondered if he had any luck blending in with the grass or if he was just the right shade to stand out.

Then again, she had pink hair.

"I'm Utena Tenjou, sir. I really am sorry I bumped into you. I hope I haven't offended you?" That normally mended thngs over well.

And if that scare her off right at the start of things, he figured she would be one of those cheery things that he had chase off with all the bells and whistles. Only problem was, he didn't have the energy for something like that right now, and he was trying to restrict his movement as much as possible until he got over the soreness of his last enoucnter. Freakin horns, he seemed to be having bad lucks with those, especially from Reya. Taking two to the shoulder in the past seasons, and being threatened with another, not exactly a good track record. What had the stallion thinking twice on the situation? The presence of a horn of course. Though he didn't like it one bit, he figured the best thing for him to do right now was suck it up and tolerate this momentary company until she left, consdiering he wouldn't really be able to toss her around effectively without moving and would be putting himself at risk with that horn.

If it was one thing he had learned from that wretch golden Reya, it was to be wary of horns, and he would put that knowledge to good use whenever he could. However, that still left Jala, Aeri, and Bae as prime targets to his bullying, so he had no problems with it until now. Darned pointed weapons.

There was no concern in those crimson eyes, and if it was the least well feigned it hardly seemed at all fathomable. "Yeah. Well, don't do it again." That was... nice? He certainly hoped so, the sooner she left the better and sooner he'd be out of range of sharp objects with a tendency to pierce his flesh.

He looked. . . awful.

She hadn't noticed it, having caught mostly glimpses of green fur when he walked into his side, but he was severely marked up. He appeared to have been in quite a tussle. Then again, with an attitude like that, she wasn't very surprised. Maybe he'd lived a hard life. Many had, it was very depressing.

Good thing she was here for him.

"I don't plan on it," she admitted sheepishly, a small grin finding its way to her face. She stayed out of kicking range and to his back, following with the intent of conversation whether he began walking or not.

"I don't meet many Aeri out here during the day," she told him out loud. Her eyes scanned the grass. "Its beautiful, isn't it?"

To the brute, he would have really prefered to see the back end of her fleeing in the opposite direction, and despite his hestitance in the presence of a horn it neither conquered his anti-social attitude nor allowed him to enjoy one's company. Call him old fashioned, but when he was out matched he prefered not to get into physical blows; and physical blows so far had only been dealt to Aitumn and those associated with the pompus Jala. Other Nequus, he used itimidation... and gosh darn it usually worked.

As it was, he didn't quite like having his neck craned around to the side to look at her, and the fact he couldn't quite reach out and tap her with a hoof bugged him. He could quite possibly back up and perhaps scare her off like that, but there was the chance of getting stuck in the flank. Hardly listening to what was said to him, however catching enough to pick it up and understand, the swirled stallion chanced to sway his bulk to the side and side reposition himself so he could keep her to his shoulder instead of at his back and so his neck wouldn't have to crane around to do so.

"Haven't noticed, don't plan too either." That was true enough, when there was only so many hours in the day, one much use it to the full extend of plotting and planning a next move. Such as what to do with Aitumn. He supposed he should check the tree again once he was fully devoid of soreness, but he doubted even the Jala was stupid enough to stay there for much longer. Where would he be going then? Crimson gaze shifted to the pink, wingless wonder as he thought about it. He had asked this question before, had to feign civilness, and in one case worry, before- so why not now? It was worth a shot.

"You see I just came from Shiral and I'm very tired of the scenery both here and there. I feel that I need change..." he left it at that. Whether or not she would pick up on the wanting of a suggestion or not he wasn't sure, but he'd get usefulness out of her if he had to stand her company. Heck if he knew where Aitumn was going next.

Utena was left with her half-grin that rather faded in her uncertainty. He was particularily impossible to talk to. Maybe he didn't want to be talked to.

Well most were lonely and didn't know it. Still, maybe he'd prefer she walked in silence. Maybe he preferred she didn't follow him at all. Perhaps he was on an important duty.

"There I go, being rude again," she spoke nervously. "If you're busy, my presence must bother you."

It didn't bug her that she hadn't gotten a name from him. Nequus knew Nequus, and she'd ask around. It would be something when she knew his name on their next meeting and he hadn't told it to her.

She'd rub it in his grumpy face, because that was about the only thing you could do to a giant Aeri.

Or maybe not. He had expected her to pick up on the cue with that last sentence, but it seemed he would have to work harder to finish the dirty deed he had already started. Although his ears did perk up rather eagerly before he could hush them back down into a normal stance once again when she mentioned being a bother. Yes, she had been, but now she was an extension to a knowledge he needed to know. Though he would love to see her leave, he would get usefulness out of her now that he had been made to stand and chat. No matter for how long or how short, all that matters was the words that had left his muzzle in conversation.

"Not busy. However rather down." Yes, that was he needed right now. To get back into the acting job he had done for the other ichsa... oh what was her name? The foolish one with the coward rit. Niz... Niz- well it was Niz something. He didn't bother to remember names too well. Allowing his head to slip from its low arch he let his ears hang laxly at the mention of being down. "As I've said i just came from Shiral, I am tired of seeing trees. Miss Utena, would you happen to know of some place with a different scenery?"

Was there something else he was suppose to do? His mind reeled for an answer, civilness escaping him due to little use. Oh well, that would have to do for now, just as long as she bought it.

That's where she came in. She could life his spirits. She knew it was something along those lines. So what was it? Did he have a fight with his best friend, did his wife leave him for someone?

Wait, what was this?

"Don't," she said between gritted teeth. Her ears pinned and she shook her mane out of her hair. "Don't use 'Miss.'" It was a bit harsh, but she couldn't take it. Not today. "Just don't do it." She wasn't leaving it up for option. The last time she had . . .

Best not to think on it.

She took a deep breath to calm herself. "The ocean," she answered simply. "Or. . . Ryuten." It depended on your personal preference. Why the hell would he want to know about that?

"A change of scenery is a horrible reason to be down," she added as an afterthought.

He had expected something out of the ordinary, however never being anywhere beyond D'ob for the most part, so most other places were hard to picture for the gian burte of an Aeri. However it was a sudden change in demeanor that caught his attention. 'Don't'? It simply wasn't said to Zak, and a bit of his 'acting' washed off with a somehow bitter look that crossed his features. Horn or not, he didn't take kindly to such things, and though his face resumed its acting disposition his stub of a tail flicked irratibly out behind him. "Alright, Utena." Perhaps she was older than he thought and didn't like the title, or maybe it simply reminded her of her mother. That what a miss was, right? Whatever, he didn't think too hard on the subject.

At her answer though he gave a small sigh, great. The ocean meant walking, if he went to Ryuten the distance wouldn't be as long, but there was a chance Aitumn wouldn't be there. That and there was the humans, annoying little things really, walking on two-legs and the like.

He returned his attention to the Ichsa. "On the contrary, it has all the reason to do with one's mood. Something boring like trees or a valley is sure to make one depressed, however something interesting to look at could lift spirits." Okay, so that was total BS, but he couldn't quite think of anything else to say to save his hide and his story.

She noticeably sighed and untensed when she heard the familiar, plain sound of her name without any added terms. He didn't pester her as to why it bugged her, and for that she was thankful.

No. It really was a shitty reason. Utena held fast to this one.

"You're not a very happy Nequus, are you?" she mused, finding herself staring at the patterns of his coat. The way they swirled and combined was mesmerizing.

"I mean, if you need scenery to be happy. . ." She paused. "Either that, or you're very alone." That was unfortunate indeed, but looking at him she could just make out that twinge of loneliness on the other's features.

Or maybe it was just mad desire for something he couldn't have. Same thing, right?

At that he couldn't help but give a snort, whether in amusement or irration it was difficult to tell, but he did crane his large head over in her direction to bring it closer to her own, and thusly closing the small gap he had already created earlier. "Aye, I've never claimed to be a happy sort of fellow", he mused, perhaps even enjoying the questionable comment to his status of mind. One of his stature in size and vengence had very little to do in the ways of hiding such openly-threatening attitudes. If you could call it that, at the moment he found amusing to speak with the oddly wingless ichsa mare, and that was a rather rare thing in this world of annoying happy gits- okay she was an annoying git but her question was more than enough to grab his attention.

Withdrawing his head from the direct space of Miss Utena, for he would call her that mentally but not outwardly. Horns were a useful thing, and one he would not intice to have stuck into him with goading. It was an odd though, and hypicritical to his usual behavior, but there still remained that open threat in his nature, however hidden by whatever shard of 'civilness' he maintained for the sake of such comments made. "Being alone hardly bothers me at all, but I suppose I shall be quite happy come sometime soon." Yes, he supposed he would as soon as he got a hold of Aitumn again. The pompus Jala fool.
PostPosted: Sat Feb 16, 2008 10:36 am

Utena stopped when he turned his head back to look at her. It made her feel a little uneasy, the sudden nature of him looking at her. She frowned and trotted to catch up, coming directly alongside him this time, but still far over to the right. She wouldn't be caught unawares by anyone until she was sure she knew them.

She was increasingly losing her hold of knowledge on this one.

"Your loss," she answered, tossing her pink locks out of her eyes. If he wanted to be sad, so be it, but some of them had lives to live. Nothing was going to be done by stewing over this and that.

Obsession, she was beginning to find, tore you up from the inside. Even now it tried to bubble out her throat and choke her words. She gave an angry snort and slammed her hoof down. 'Stop it, Utena.' She told herself mentally, but gave no look to Zaknafien to say it was he who caused the strange outburst.

"You're very odd, you know that?" she answered with the quirk of her eyebrow. "You make no sense at all, and I don't see how going to see the ocean would make you happy. How long will it be until you get bored of the ocean? And then, well, there won't be any places in D'ob left to go. Kind of setting yourself up for failure, aren't you?" What a very, sad Nequus. Maybe if she showed him some things in D'ob that were still beautiful, but he didn't seem the time. Well damn. This didn't fall into the prince-must-solve category did it? Because she rather didn't think she could.

No, it couldn't. He wasn't trying to die, or kill anything. Well, not that she knew of. 'Stop it, you're thinking to hard.' Oh well.

Of course he was an odd sort, and he didn't mind the unease of the mare, in fact he rather prefered it to her thinking herself attatched or held in good graces upon his mind. Fairly well though, considering the clingingness of others, and though she followed him still she had the mind to keep a good distance between them.

"Fairly aware of my oddness, yes. And yet you're odd yourself. A nequus without wings, hardly heard of such a thing before." Okay, never heard of such a thing before, but who knows, there could be another one walking around like that. It just possibly took some time to find. Maybe that's what he should do after- and there the great green stallion stopped in his place. What would he do once he was through with Aitumn? Miss Utena had brought up quite an interesting point, and one he hadn't bothered to think about for quite awhile. "I wouldn't so much call it failure, it'd be right after all. And I could always coming back for frequent visits", that last part was more of an add on than anything to cover up his first sentiment. Best not let his guard down too much, something may slip.

Once more, he returned to his slow plodding pace, however quite perplexed on what it was he would do after his goal was accomplished.
